Dr. Stephen Deal, a graduate of the University of Arkansas and the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, first started his practice in 2003. His practice emphasizes proper facial growth, orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, TMD and Sleep Dentistry. He has completed extensive post graduate training in orthodontics, craniofacial pain, TMD and sleep. Dr. Deal is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. A Fellow of the International Association for Orthodontics, the American Orthodontic Society and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Deal is also a Diplomate of the Facial Beauty Institute. Dr. Deal shares his passion and expertise as a Senior Instructor for the International Association for Orthodontics and a Master Senior Instructor at the Facial Beauty Institute. Dr. Deal has lectured internationally on the biology of facial growth and incorporating the ControlledArch System into clinical practice.
Staying current with modern advancements in dental technology has always been a cornerstone of Dr. Deal's practice. Dr. Deal has engaged himself in hundreds of hours of additional advanced education. In 2010, Dr. Deal became a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry after accumulating 700 hours of advanced education and passing a rigorous examination encompassing all areas of general dentistry. Dr. Deal received his fellowship from the American Orthodontic Society in 2011 after completing 300 additional hours of orthodontic training. He is a graduate of the famous Dawson Academy of Advanced Dental Education in St. Petersburg, Florida; where he was mentored by one of the true experts in dentistry, Dr. Pete Dawson. Dr. Deal carries on the concept of complete dentistry taught by Dr. Dawson and employs those concepts daily. Dr. Deal is also a member of the International Association for Orthodontics and the American Dental Association. Because learning never ends and he values giving his patients the highest caliber of treatment, Dr. Deal constantly continues his efforts in achieving higher education. Dr. Deal is currently pursuing fellowship status with the International Association for Orthodontics and Mastership Status with the Academy of General Dentistry.

Man, had I known and understood what I know now about dentistry I wouldn't be on my 3rd set of braces at the age of 44. I heard how awesome Dr. Deal and his team was from a friend, so I made an appointment for a consultation to see for myself. One of my main complaints for the past 3-4 years has been sheer exhaustion and headaches. It was Dr. Deal who suggested a sleep study after looking in my mouth. Weird, huh? I kind of thought so too. Turns out I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, waking up 38.1 times an hour. How did he know???? I am now being treated to move my jaws forward to make more room for my tongue. It all makes complete sense now! I do have a CPAP now too and OH MY GOODNESS!! I feel like a million bucks! I'm just a month into the process of moving my jaws but I can already tell a difference in my face. I'm telling you, it's bizarre! So, my type of mouth has to do with grinding teeth, not sleeping well & bed wetting. I mean, I don't grind anymore or wet the bed... BUT, I have two mini me's that do these things. My daughter wakes up with her lips bleeding because she sleeps with her mouth open allllll the time. And they both look like my side of the family, so I took them into see Dr. Deal too. Yep, they have the same mouth problems that I do,, which is basically and under developed jaw. I am in the process of treating them both right this moment as well. Sleep apnea can mess with your heart, your kidney's (bed wetting) and cause sever depression. I don't want any of these problems for my kids, so as their Mom it's my job to set them up for success, not failure. Their health is not a joke to me. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Deal, Haley & KIm... Everybody in this office. They go WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND to help their patients. I just wish I had met this amazing team years ago. They will help you and your family any way they can. They are professional, kind, caring & so dang friendly. I love them!! I say go see them. You will wish you had!!!

Dr Deal and his team are amazing! He was able to not only correct my child's smile but also address jaw and face issues that will improve quality of life forever. Symmetry dentistry addresses the facial structure as a whole and gets to the root of the issues - not just quick fixing the teeth. So grateful for this team of professionals!

I haven't known Dr. Deal long but the time I have he's been awesome. He's very informative and humorous. He squeezed me in a few days prior to my wedding to remove my braces. I was overjoyed! The staff there is just as awesome!

Dr. Deal was able to find the root cause of my son's breathing problems almost immediately! My son was tongue tied and was not able to breath correctly. I took him to doctor after doctor, and Dr. Deal was the only one to diagnose his problem. Kalei, our Myofunctional Therapist, has been doing therapy with my son through Dr. Deal's office. It has made all the difference in the world. She is AMAZING and has helped my son improve his tongue movements and breathing, especially after his tongue clip. I highly recommend Dr. Deal and his Myofunctional Therapist. They are both top notch!

Having our son go through MYO functional therapy At Symmetry Modern Dentistry has been an absolute life saver and changer. Our son is FINALLY (after 7 years) sleeping though the night. Also, his demeanor during the day is much better, he's sick less often and he can breathe so much better through his nose AND that's only after 3 MONTHS of therapy. I am beyond excited to see what the next several months brings. This therapy has also saved his tonsils. The staff is amazing and Dr. Z really knows his craft. He's extremely knowledgeable and answers all your questions. They are GREAT with kids. I really can't say enough good things about Symmetry. If your kiddo is having sleeping issues, sick often, swollen tonsils, dark circles under their eyes, etc, I HIGHLY suggest seeing the professionals at Symmetry. What a blessing they have all been to our family. Thank you Symmetry!!

I really enjoy the level of service I receive from Dr. Deal & his staff. When I first saw Dr. Deal, my trust was broken from previous providers making promises but failing to keep them as it relates to reducing my TMJ related symptoms but this was not the case with Dr. Deal. Since I've started treatment, I've had a reduction in tension/migraine headaches, facial and neck pain. Dr. Deal is patient, he likes your honesty if you're in pain, and he's very empathic! Went today for the first time to address lingering TMJ pain. The office is clean and modern and the staff is helpful and friendly. I felt listened to every step of the way and everyone took the time to explain to me what each machine was doing/what they were checking for/etc. I'm the kind of person who wants to understand what's going on, so that means a lot to me. What genuinely impressed me (and will have me referring everyone I know to Symmetry) is the honesty of Dr. Deal. After checking out my xrays and examining my jaw, he told me my case was fairly minor and actually recommended no treatment for right now. ...A doctor who could've put me on a treatment plan, but didn't, and truly recommended what was best for the patient?! That honesty instantly led to the kind of trust that will have me 100% coming back if I experience another flare up. Thanks for the great experience, yall!

I came to Symmetry Modern Dentistry a little over a year ago. My TMJ had been causing me pain for awhile. My jaw had gotten to the point that it was locking up about twice a day. It ached constantly and I wasn't sleeping well. There was ringing in my ears and also a very loud whooshing sound from how inflamed it had become. I tried Ibuprofen, soft diet, multiple mouth guards, ice packs, steroids and injections into the joint. These would give me temporary relief but nothing helped me heal. I felt like I was stuck in a cycle of pain and I just about gave up hope until my PCP (when I was asking to try another injection) suggested I try the Dentist his sister went to that she absolutely loved. I am so thankful he sent me to Symmetry. Dr. Deal and his staff are amazing! They are very informative and focused on patient care. Within a month of treatment my pain was almost completely gone and my jaw no longer locked up! The ringing in my ears and whooshing were greatly reduced and I was sleeping much better. I'm in braces now and I could not be happier with my experience here, not only am I pain free but I feel like I am healing. I highly recommend!

Very impressed with the staff and the dentist's professionalism at this place of business. They made sure I was comfortable at every stage, they made sure I knew what they were talking about when they would use dental terms, and they were just really a great team. I would highly recommend this specialist. UPDATE 10/20/21 - Well, I've gone through their whole program, and I could describe the experience in one word : impressive. I just got my braces off today, they've been there for me every step of the way throughout the whole shebang. If something broke, whether it was my fault or not, they were there to fix it. They are professionals through and through. Dr Z is very helpful and accessible whenever you need him. They are very conscious about your comfort, and make adjustments to fit your needs. While getting braces in and of itself is not the most pleasant experience in the world, they make it as easy for you as possible. And they don't JUST do braces, they do your dental cleanings every 6 months, too. All of that being said, I would still highly recommend Symmetry for all of your dental needs.
