Philip R. Sprague, Jason L. Richards, Courtney A. Greenwood, Boley J. Greenwood and Ashley l. Paulus are pediatric dentists in Sylvania, Ohio, who specialize in providing quality care to patients from infancy through young adulthood. Each doctor maintains professional memberships with the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Toledo Dental Society and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Each doctor is committed to maintaining the standards of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry in our community. They are all associate clinical professors at the University of Toledo Medical Center, where they teach in the post graduate general practice and pediatric dental residencies.
Dr. Sprague attended dental school at The Ohio State University. He earned a post-graduate certificate at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He completed his specialty training in pediatric residency at Childrens Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Sprague is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Sprague joined Sylvania Pediatric Dental care in July, 2000. When away from the office, he enjoys being with his family, spending time outdoors, rooting for his hometown Cleveland sports teams, and vacationing at the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
After obtaining his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The Ohio State University, Dr. Richards completed a general practice residency at Medical College of Ohio and a pediatric dental residency at Childrens Hospital of Pittsburgh. He has hospital privileges at The Toledo Hospital and St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, where he provides dental treatment in the operating room with general anesthesia.
Dr. Courtney Greenwood attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After dental school, she returned to Toledo to complete a general practice residency at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Dr. Greenwood completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the Children's Hospital of Buffalo. Since joining the practice in 2009, she has become A Diplomate of the Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She has hospital priveilges at the Toledo Hospital and St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, which allows her to provide dental treatment in the operating room under general anesthesia. Dr. Courtney is excited to be back in her hometown, close to family and friends. She is looking forward to Mud Hens baseball and Michigan football games.
Boley Greenwood received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry in 2006. After dental school, Dr. Greenwood practiced as a general dentist for three years, in both Utah and New York, before entering his pediatric dental residency at the University of Toledo, Medical Center. While completing his residency, Dr. Greenwood also earned a Masters degree in Oral Biology from the University of Toledo. Dr. Greenwood has hospital privileges at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center and the Toledo Hospital, and is able to provide dental treatment under general anesthesia.
Dr. Ashley Paulus obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The Ohio State University. After dental school, she completed a pediatric residency at Case Western Reserve University's Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital in Cleveland. Dr. Paulus is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Paulus is a former patient who grew up in Sylvania and attended Southview. She is excited to be back home, closer to her family and friends. She has hospital privileges at the Toledo Hospital and St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, which allows her to provide dental treatment under general anesthesia. Ashley and her husband, Brent, an orthodontist, enjoy skiing, being outdoors, traveling, and cheering on the Buckeyes.

Had our visit today with my nervous 12 yr old. And it was absolute fantastic visit. Cindy the hygienist is now one my daughter's favorite people lol Dr. Sprague was great too and explains everything so you feel comfortable.

As a mom of a child with special needs this place is a blessing! Brittany talked to my son like he needed, very soft and calm and at one point during the visit he retreated to Brittany over MOM! (kudos to her) Dr. Greenwood was so patient and understanding to my sons needs. He went at my sons pace and was honestly a wonderful experience. I cannot explain enough how much it means that they didn't treat or expect the same from my son as a neurotypical child like a normal dentistry. I can not explain the amount of anxiety you have taken off of this mom's plate, and I am sooo excited to sleep tonight! Thank you !

My son has been going here and everyone is so kind. They explain everything to you and make sure your child is calm and know everything they are doing. He loves his hygienist and she made sure he was ok before proceeding with anything. Staff is amazing!!! With his sensory issues they allow head phones as well and very accommodating!! Highly recommend

Brought my son for a tooth extraction and could not have asked for a better experience. He was VERY nervous and scared and always has lots of questions for the dentist/doctor and our dentist here was beyond helpful and amazing. He got the extraction done and my son barely realized it was happening. Would HIGHLY recommend this dentist to anyone looking for one. The nurse was amazing as well. All around great experience.

They took great care of my son regarding his tooth extraction (or wiggle as they call it in children friendly language). Dr. Sprague took time to explain all of my concerns regarding conscious sedation in great detail and made me feel very comfortable. I was on the fence about it because of all the horror stories I've read about regarding dental tragedies. Dr. Sprague's assurance and taking time to explain every detail was the reason I decided to go ahead and have my son get the procedure in office. Dr. Richards performed the procedure on my son along with his assistant Delaney, they were great! Dr. Richards was also very engaging with my son, my husband and I. I really appreciated the warm friendliness that he gave. The treatment coordinator Sara was also wonderful as she took time to answer and address my concerns many times over the phone days prior to my son's procedure. She was very kind, patient and knowledgeable. During my son's procedure I received at least four updates, which was very comforting. They were fast and efficient! The treatment that my son and my family received at this dental office made me very comfortable and pleased. My children will continue to go to Sylvania Pediatric Dentist for their needs. For any parents out there that are very cautious, I highly recommend Sylvania Pediatric Dental!

This is a great dentist office! Just took my two year old and what I thought was going to be a stressful visit was actually very easy and my daughter loved our dental assistant Courtney. She made her experience fun and tearless! I would definitely recommend. We also got a new client gift that includes a book and a T-Shirt.

Told us worst case scenario for bill and then surprise another $750. And crown fell off right away. Had to go to another dentist. Other work they did also looked horrible.

My daughter had her first dentist appt today and I can't thank this office enough for how well everything went! She was so comfortable and they even gave her a little welcome bag which was the icing on the cake for her! We will be recommending to all our friends and family and she will certainly be a long term patient. Thank you!!!

Dr. Courtney Greenwood is such a genuinely amazing dentist. She's one of the good ones. We couldn't be more appreciative of her bedside manner and over all care of our son while we went through a very difficult time of having him undergo dental surgery. She took the time before and after the procedure to answer any and all questions kindly and lovingly. I would also love to give a shout out to all of the hygienists we encountered here every single one of them were so sweet! Sarah in the office who I believe sets up the appointments for procedures, also took over 30 mins to talk to me about my concerns over the phone and was also so kind and loving and comforting!! We believe this team did what's best for our son and truly appreciate their hearts in all of this going through something so big with our little guy. Can't thank them enough!

I had to bring my son in to have some work done today. He was a little apprehensive upon arrival, but those fears subsided when we were greeted by Marian who took us back. She took the time to carefully xray his teeth, as well as talk to my boy and explain to him the procedure that was getting ready to occur. (We were thinking a filling, but turns out, an extraction) She spoke to him calmly and reassuredly, letting him know that he would be fine. She also took the time to calm my nerves and explain to me the procedure as well as an overview of the xrays. Marian is definitely an asset to the company! Thank you!

My 11-year-old, three-year-old and myself waited for 45 minutes to be seen. We were right on time for our appointment. This was only for a cleaning. I walked out of the office at 1 o'clock. Completely unacceptable for merely a cleaning. How are you supposed to keep a 3 1/2 year-old at all content for that amount of time? Way over booked. I will not be back.

The visit start out fabulous. The dental hygienist we had was phenomenal. The Dentist came in and said my child had a couple cavities he would like to fill, I was agreeable until I spoke with the care coordinator. She lacked empathy. She initially told me that I could not be in the room during the fillings. That changed when I said we wouldn't be following through then. Next I asked what the dentist and hygienist do to help toddlers if they are frightened during the fillings since they use laughing gas and don't sedate. Her response to me was " well your child will be aware of everything that's going on because she will be awake". I tried to explain to her that doesn't answer my question then the coordinator for an attitude. I called the next day and said we won't be back and explained why. They must have relayed the message to the coordinator because she called me and left a voicemail stating "I'm sorry you didn't understand what I was saying ". Complete lack of customer service.

My children loved this dentist but when it comes to billing and payments, obsolutely terrible. I paid for an appointment prior to my daughter having her dental work done so her dad could take my debit card to get our son food while they waited for us to get done. Guess I should have paid after service because when I called to schedule her next appointment they told me I had a balance that wasn't paid. After arguing that it was paid they told me they would not see her until it was paid which would be the 2nd time I would have paid for the services.. We my daughter needs emergency dental work so I called and was just going to pay it, mind you I NEVER received a bill. They told me it was sent to collections but I could still pay the bill on the phone, they just won't see her back in their office. That was not the only time I had billing issues there. I've never received a bill from that office or a discharge letter.
