Dr. John LaJoy was born and raised in Sylmar, California. He attended St. Didacus Grammar School and Alemany High School. He spent three years in the U.S Army as a dental assistant attaining the rank of Sergeant. After his time in the Army he went on to attend and graduate from Cal State University, Northridge in 1979 with a BA in Biology. Soon after, he attended dental school at UCLA and graduated in 1983. He started Sylmar Family Dental Group in 1985 and has been proudly serving the community for over 30 years. He is a proud member of the American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), and the San Fernando Valley Dental Society. Dr. LaJoy has been married to his wife, JoAnn for over 38 years and has two beautiful daughters.
Dr. Valafar attended University of Southern California (USC) for her undergraduate education, where she excelled in two majors and earned her degrees in Biological Sciences and Psychology. Thereafter, she attended University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Dentistry. She has been pursuing her career in dentistry ever since, and takes pride in providing her patients with quality care and a great office experience. On her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, water sports, and reading.
Dr. Christine White is a Graduate of University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) where she recieved a Bachelors of Science in Physiological Science. She completed her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at University Southern California (USC) in 2005. Dr. White has been caring for patients of Sylmar Family Dental Group for almost 10 years. She has a passion for community dentistry and spent many years participating in volunteer community dental service groups. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her young son and daughter, social ballroom dancing, and reading interior design magazines.
