Dr. Laretha Lockhart was born and resides in Columbus, GA where she is a pillar of the community. Dr. Lockhart attended Kendrick High School and graduated with honors. She furthered her education by graduating from Wesleyan College in 2001, where she majored in Chemistry, and minored in Math and Biology. She then went on to complete four years at Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry, where she obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in June 2005. She completed a year residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. After her residency was completed she knew she wanted to return home to Columbus, GA. Dr. Lockhart then worked three years as an associate in two local dental offices. With the knowledge and experience she gained, Dr. Lockhart made the decision to open her own practice, Sweetgums Dental, L.L.C.

I jus LOVE Sweetgum Dental, there's no one particular employee there other then Dr Lockhart (of course) that make the practice amazing its every single employee together as a team make it happen, from the front office to the hygienists to the cleaning crew ( its has been one of the cleanest office yet and and did I mention it small wonderful every visit) It take an entire team to make a practice successful and Sweetgum Dental hit the mark in every way possible. When I am asked for recommendations for a dentist, with out hesitation I YELL OUT Sweetgum Dental with pride and the morjority has visited the office and made Sweetgum the dentist of choice. I have been with Sweetgum for 12 yrs or more and have had my cleaning's every six mos, a couple of extractions and a partial and working on whitening and implants for the very near future. Try Sweetgum Dental for yourself you will not regret it. Thanks Sweetgum Dental for being an amazing and awesome practice and for keeping my Smile intact

I haven't been to the dentist in years. Upon entering the establishment, the receptionists ladies was very welcoming and courteous. My X-ray tech made me feel very calm, felt like family. Dr. Lockhart was very prompt and explained the process and procedures that needed to be done. I'm glad I found a good dental practice that put the care of the patients on the frontline. Would definitely recommend them for future visits.

This dental office is amazing, and the professional care you recieve feels like personal care. The dentist office has always been fear of mine for years. From the moment I explained my reasoning and past history. From the hygienists to the dentist.....they both said, "Mr. Burton we got you, please lay back and be comfortable." I've been loyal customer for over five years. I personally want to thank Dr. Lockhart and her staff for the great work they've done in community and on my German Shepards (by the way, that's what I call teefis).....
