Dr. Alan Liu is a native of the Bay Area having spent most of his life in El Cerrito. He graduated from University of California at Davis in 1993 and received his Dental training from State University of New York at Buffalo in 2000. Dr. Liu studied abroad in Japan during his junior year in college at Tokyos International Christian University from 1991 to 1992. Prior to his dental training in 1995, Dr. Liu was employed by the Japanese Government in Gifu Prefecture and worked as an International Coordinator where he acquired valuable skills in communication.
Dr. Alan Liu worked as an associate dentist for several years in the East Bay before establishing his own practice Sweet Home Dental Care in 2006 in El Cerrito. He educates himself with continuing education in order to continue providing excellent care to his patients.
Dr. Jennifer J. Liu, DDS, MD was born in Taiwan and is the youngest of six girls. She received her Bachelors of Science degree from The Ohio State University in 1996 and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan in 2001. She attended the University of Florida where she graduated from the College of Medicine and received her MD degree in 2004. Dr. Liu completed an internship in General Surgery and her residency in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery with anesthesiology training, at the University of Florida and its affiliated hospitals.
Dr. Liu enjoys all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery and focuses on the removal/management of impacted teeth, dental implants and bone grafts, facial trauma and reconstruction, management of pathologic conditions of the jaw or face, correction jaw surgery, treatment of OSA and surgical management of TMJ disorders.
Board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Liu is uniquely qualified to treat facial and oral disorders. She has an active California medical license and maintains hospital privileges at Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley and Valley Care Medical Center in Pleasanton.
She is also a member of American Association of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons, California Association of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, American Medical Association and California Dental Association. She is committed to providing excellent patient care and community service as well as to a process of lifelong learning to meet the changing needs of a diverse patient population.

We use the highest standard of sterilization in our office for the patients well being and comfort. All our instruments are cleaned with high temperature steam sterilization ensuring that all bacteria are killed. The instruments are then packaged individually. Each patient gets a brand new set of clean instruments opened from a fresh package each time they are seen at our office.
Our office is equipped with 100% digital radiography which provides better resolution for treatment diagnosis along with minimum radiation dosage compared to traditional filmed radiographs. Our x-rays are ready to be reviewed by the doctor and patient on monitors within seconds after they are taken.

The first time experience was great. Dr. Liu and his staff are very caring and efficient. Dr Liu is very thorough in the cleaning and overall check process and no pain at all.

Everything went perfectly. Dr. Lieu made me a new crown in 2 hours - no waiting for a lab to make the crown. He also explained to this software engineer how the scanner made photos of my jaw to get the data for milling the crown.

Dr. Liu squeezed me in after I called about a toothache I'm experiencing. I was actually able to see him before any of the other dentist's I'd contacted even had a chance to return my calls. He quickly performed an X-ray and was able to give me a referral to an endodontist and prescribe some medication for the meantime. Everyone in his office was friendly and efficient. I highly recommend Dr. Lou's practice.

Dr. Liu, is the best dentist I've had in 10 years. He is very thorough with his cleanings and cavities. He helped me with an Inlay that was not fitting correctly. I watched him make the Inlay right in his office on a water mill. Very cool and it fit perfectly afterward. Have not had an issue since. No sensitivity or anything at all.

Wonderful office, cannot recommend more highly. Easy to schedule as a first time patient. Christine, the hygienist, was excellent, as was Dr. Liu -- very low stress, down to earth, and no pressure. Very happy to have found them.

Dr. Alan and his staff are so great and so accommodating! He did a great job on my crown and I loved that he was able to do it all in one visit so I didn't have to go back, worked out perfectly since I do not live in town, would definitely recommend Dr. Alan Liu, thanks again guys!!!

I have been going to Sweet Home Dental Care for at least 8 years--probably more. I LOVE this place. Dr. Liu is extremely friendly, thorough in his work & sensitive to the needs of his patients. Most importantly, he never hurts you! If you need a pricey procedure, he will work with you to try to find ways to do it in stages. The support staff is super-competent & friendly, too. I actually LOOK FORWARD to going in for my cleanings/check-ups; it's a chance to visit people who have become my friends. I've never had to wait to be seen & the office atmosphere is always calm. Vicki at the front desk handles all the insurance--I just show up. I cannot recommend Sweet Home Dental enough. It is a little treasure here in El Cerrito. Update in 2019--Sweet Home remains awesome. Vicki has moved on but the support staff is still excellent & I still highly recommend this dental office. Always a FUN experience Update on 11/30/21--This place only improves with age, just like me. It's still a pleasure to see everyone there and the service is state of the art. So awesome!
