Dr. Funk is actually a 3rd generation dentist (his brother is one too!), and he grew up watching the strong relationships that both his dad and his grandpa developed over the years with local families. He wanted to build those same lasting relationships and help people not only experience healthier smiles but feel better about their appearances too through dedicated oral healthcare.

After attending Brigham Young University for his undergraduate, Dr. Funks college career took him to the UCLA School of Dentistry, where he received the merit-based Deans scholarship. After graduating with his doctorate, he has continued to pursue advanced training at an exceptional level and currently has 100+ continuing education hours logged in dental implant and oral surgery, orthodontics, and the latest techniques regarding dentures, cosmetic care, and restorative care. He has studied at the Academy of GP Orthodontics and completed the AGD MasterTrack program. He is currently a member of the following organizations:

Whenever he isnt busy at work, you can likely find Dr. Funk with his wife Krista and their four beautiful children family is truly his #1 priority! He enjoys doing all sorts of activities with the kids, such as riding bikes, swimming, and playing sports. He has coached their soccer and baseball teams and also enjoys volunteering at his local church and as an adult leader for the local Boy Scout troop. When it comes to his own personal hobbies, he is passionate about cycling, especially mountain biking.

Karrons career in dentistry spans an impressive 35 years. She has her AAS degree from Brazosport College and studied dentistry at Tulsa Tech. In addition to her managerial duties, she is a Certified Dental Assistant and regularly attends continuing education courses to stay current with the latest techniques. She loves being able to help folks in the community find affordable ways to achieve dental health. Working and serving people in the town she lives in is such as a blessing!

Karron has been a Brazoria County resident for 34 years. She is married and has two wonderful sons and an amazing grandson. She spends her free time listening to music, camping, gardening, and being with good friends.

Megans career in the dental field covers five years so far. Originally from Alvin, she studied at Alvin Community College and has also received military training at Fort Sam Houston. She is certified in CPR and BLS through the American Heart Association. Shes so proud to be part of such an awesome team of coworkers here at Sweeny Family Dental, and the patients are great too!

When she isnt busy at work, you can usually find Megan spending lots of quality time with her family. She loves the outdoors and animals, particularly horses. She has a chicken farm and is a volunteer for the SPCA, regularly fostering baby kittens. Shes also a happy dog mom and an avid book reader.

Samantha has worked in the dental field for four years so far, and she genuinely enjoys being able to help patients feel great about their smiles and also stay comfortable in the treatment chair. She earned her education from Victoria College.

Originally from Victoria, Samantha is married with a beautiful daughter. Her hobbies include traveling, fishing, reading, and shopping at Hobby Lobby. Something interesting about her: she actually lived in Alaska for four years after high school!

Dana hails from right here in Sweeny, and shes worked in dentistry for nearly 15 years so far. She attended Wharton County Junior College for her education and is certified in CPR. She really enjoys that her job allows her to stay close to home and regularly interact with people she already knows from the community.

Dana is the proud mother of twin daughters and has been married for almost 13 years. When she has free time, she enjoys cheering on her twins at their softball games, hunting, and spending quality time with family. Shes actually a twin herself, and all of her sisters (including her sister-in-law) are dental hygienists too!

Donnas career in the dental field covers over 15 years so far in fact, she decided in the 7th grade that she wanted to be a hygienist! Her aunt and two of her sisters also have the same job, so it must run in the family. She completed her degree at Wharton County Junior College. What she loves most about her role at Sweeny Family Dental is getting to work in her local community and take such good care of patients!

Outside of work, Donna and her husband have two sons who both play baseball, so a lot of their free time is spent watching their games. They also love cheering on the Astros and doing various activities around their land.

When caught early, gum disease can usually be taken care of using a special kind of dental cleaning called scaling and root planing.
