Dr. Sweeney grew up in Youngstown, Ohio. Like his father, he completed his bachelors degree at John Carroll University. Following in the footsteps of both his father and grandfather before him, he graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Continuing his formal dental education, Dr. Sweeney completed an elective year of advanced training through the hospital based General Practice Residency at the Medical College of Ohio. The next 13 years were spent practicing comprehensive general family dentistry with an emphasis on cosmetics and complex restorative and prosthetic treatments.
Continuing his formal education has always been important, and Dr. Sweeney has been active with The Spear Institute, The Center for Exceptional Practices and multiple study clubs. Additionally, he participated in the surgical and restorative implant fellowship with The Midwest Implant Institute. The desire to continually advance his education led to the decision to return to academics and earn a masters degree while completing an orthodontic specialty residency. Dr. Sweeneys research regarding patient satisfaction with Invisalign was published in a leading orthodontic journal.
Time with his wife, Beth, and three children is what Dr. Sweeney cherishes most. He also enjoys golfing, fly-fishing, sailing, traveling and cooking. Dr. Sweeney and his family reside on the west side of Cleveland, where they enjoy being active members of the community.

Dr. Sweeney's office is the best! My son had braces on for 2-1/2 yrs and had to have a tooth pulled up with a chain. It seemed overwhelming for me at the time but all went smooth. Dr. Sweeney and his whole staff are very friendly, professional and did an amazing job on his teeth. He experienced no problems, appointments were quick and he really enjoyed his monthly visits with this team! I recommend to anyone who asks and will continue to do so.

I cannot say enough good things about Sweeney Orthodontics. My daughter has been coming to Dr Sweeney for about 5 years now (lots of work to be done) and we just got her top braces off. I think we all cried a little at the beautiful smile he gave her. I know that we will see him until the bottoms come off, but it was a little sad, we are about to "lose" our 2nd family - that is how good they are, they are family! You will not be disappointed taking your child to Dr Sweeney and his team, you are literally in the best hands ever!!

It's been such a fantastic experience for my son and me with Dr. Sweeney and his staff! Dr. Sweeney is extremely attentive, thorough and experienced. After our family moved to the Cleveland area almost two years ago, we searched for an orthodontist to continue orthodontic care for our two teenagers. After consulting with several other orthodontists, we decided to choose Dr. Sweeney. It was the best decision. Dr. Sweeney communicates with us at each appointment regarding their current treatment and next steps. If you're deciding on an orthodontist, I highly recommend Dr.Sweeney. He did an amazing job on my teeth and all the office workers make you feel at home. Not to mention how well they work with you if any issues come up. That includes problems with your treatment, after treatment or any money issues. I'm very glad I chose his office!
