Our practice was founded years ago to cater to the increasing population of young families in Surprise and the surrounding region of Maricopa County. Dr. Jensen has lived, studied, and practiced dentistry throughout the mountain west, including Idaho and Utah. However, he and his family settled into Surprise for much the same reason as other families who call Surprise their home. From the beginning, our goal has been to provide a child-focused dental home that will cater to the unique needs and comfort levels of children of all ages.
Founded in 1938, Surprise was named by Flora Mae Statler when she stated that shed be surprised if the town ever amounted to much. She really would be surprised to find that today, its Arizonas 10th-largest city, and one of the fastest-growing cities in the entire United States.
For those of us who call Surprise our home, its not hard to see why its grown so much. Surrounded by beautiful Sonoran desert, within an easy drive to Phoenix, and bursting with recreational and cultural experiences, its the perfect place to live. Our numerous golf courses and senior living communities attest to the large population of retirees who have migrated to the warm region to enjoy their golden years. However, the convenient location, shopping hubs, and safety of the community are increasingly attracting families to settle into the region as well.
We pride ourselves on being the premier resource for pediatric dental care to families in Surprise. A member of the Arizona Dental Association, Dr. Mathew Jensen upholds the high standards and code of ethics set forth by the American Dental Association, which means that you can trust him to give your child the very best care.
Here at Surprise Pediatric Dentistry, we have extra training and specialization in working with children. From the colors to the playful platforms and decorative features, our office encourages play, fun, and creativity in our pediatric patients. Stimulated and distracted, few children even have the chance to feel anxious or worried about dentistry.
The most unique thing about our office is the team of specialists who work each day to ensure that children are happy and healthy. Each team member, from receptionist to dentist to hygienist, is specially trained and experienced to deal with children.
There will always be elements of any kind of healthcare that lead to discomfort. Thats why we offer numerous kinds of sedation and anesthesia in our office. These help eliminate the feelings of pain from a procedure to help keep the body feeling relaxed.

I love the staff at Suprise Pediatric Dentistry! They are so patient with my little one. She does not care for dental offices. She's a screamer! We even got x-rays. I highly recommend this office for your littles. 10 stars.

My 8 year old son is VERY dramatic, & has ZERO pain tolerance!! But with ALL of that, the AMAZING staff was able too get 4 fillings & a crown done, in about an hour!! They didn't put him too sleep, & THEY WERE SO PATIENT & UNDERSTANDING!!!!! I honestly could go on & on. Staff SUPER FRIENDLY! Office is CLEAN, they have lil TVs on the ceilings for the kids too watch while laying down, Dentists & DAs we're all EXTREMELY helpful, knowledgeable, & are GREAT explaining it too the kids!! Very comfortable environment, they work with you!! Not your typical dentist! I will NEVER take my baby ANYWHERE ELSE!!

Everyone in this office is so friendly and helpful and patient. We are so thankful to of found them. My daughter really struggled and was so scared and they were so patient with her and kind. Plus they worked super fast and got everything that needed to get done done. They also were very honest with practical on what was major and what things were minor fixes. Overall a great experience.

Everyone is so good with kids at Surprise Pediatric Dentistry, especially with little ones that have very intense fears. My 4 1/2 yo son was very nervous about having a cavity filled today. When we left he was so happy he said, "I don't know what I was worried about, I wish I had more cavities to fill!" Now... I have lost my way to convince him to brush his teeth, but at least he isn't afraid of the dentist anymore!!!

Dr Jensen had a total lack of regard for my son's pain when the anesthetic wasn't working and seemed annoyed that he didn't just push through the pain and grip the handrails tight. Further, the doctor seemed very lacking in ability or willingness to troubleshoot the pain when a possible root issue was questioned. Don't trust your care to sometime that doesn't care.

Had appointments for 3 of my kids, they accommodated us perfectly. Great atmosphere for the kids (and parents.) Parents are allowed in the back with kids during cleaning etc, and staff is really friendly. We saw Dr Kalamchi, and she was great. She took the time to go over everything with me and answered any questions I had. We moved here from Florida, so we're "starting over" with all our Dr's, it's really convenient that the orthodontist is right upstairs if needed (hopefully the Dr's are just as great!)

Dr Miner is gone. this is no longer a practice for special needs children!!!!!!!!!! Went to my daughter's appointment today expecting Dr Miner. was met with new staff, which was fine. she had a crown that fell off and needed put back on. the staff checked fitting and alignment and in the process my daughter told her it hurt. which she replied "it doesn't hurt". wrong if a child tells you it hurts, stop, think, use the knowledge you learned in school, and figure out what the problem might be. the details are too horrific and long for here. in short as we were about to leave they made comment, " well if the tooth was exposed for 2 days, it may have irritated the nerve and caused pain." Duh, listen to the patient! it's not your tooth. you don't know if it hurts or not. all that happened, they dubed her as uncooperative and wanted to give her gas??? giving one star because of the lack of ability to give negative stars. they need to get their act together or close their doors.
