Dr. Surbeck, a Tacoma native, grew up in a dental environment; his father practiced general dentistry in Federal Way for over 35 years. This experience allowed him to see the fulfillment that comes from serving people and providing excellent dental care.

Early on, Dr. Surbeck attended the Charles Wright Academy. After this excellent primary education, he began his journey at Claremont McKenna College and transferred to the University of Washington. During his ten years at UW, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology, a Doctorate in Dental Surgery with honors, and a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics. He has continued his involvement with the University of Washington, serving as a faculty member in the School of Dentistry and on the board of directors for both the UW Orthodontic Alumni Association and UW Dental School Alumni Association. Dr. Surbeck is also a member of many other leading dental and orthodontic organizations, including the:

Dr. Surbeck, his wife Katie (a Bellevue native), their daughters Claire and Caroline, and their son Will reside in Bellevue. When not practicing orthodontics, Dr. Surbeck enjoys outdoor adventures throughout Washington and spending time with his family in the back yard. He also avidly enjoys saltwater fishing for salmon and halibut, fly fishing for steelhead, vegetable gardening and cheering on the Huskies.

We know that our office is only as effective and as welcoming as the people who work in it, which is why we take pride in our friendly and well-trained team members! As a team, we are especially interested in making all our patients feel right at home! We put your needs first to achieve efficient and comprehensive treatment in a supportive and nurturing environment. We promise to speak candidly with you about possible treatments as well as any risks and associated costs of treatment, and how treatment can address your individual needs as a patient.

Debbie is our Treatment Coordinator. She has been in the orthodontic field since 1979. What she enjoys most about orthodontics is: 'The opportunity we have to develop great relationships with our patients and their families. Being part of making beautiful smiles is so rewarding.' After having a house full of soccer players, her husband, Rick, and she are now sharing the house with their dogs, Suzy and Leelee and cats, Yoda and Nona. Debbie loves to play with her five grandkids, read, crochet, and travel.

Becky is one of our awesome Orthodontic Assistants. She grew up in Colorado and just moved to WA in 2021 to join her boyfriend Steve(who is also from CO). She has two grown daughters and two grandsons. When not working, she loves to do just about anything that gets her moving outside. Trail running is her fave, but she has also ran three marathons and two 50ks! She is a skier, hiker, snowshoer, and newbie mountain biker too.

Becky has been a Dental Assistant/Ortho Tech since 1987. She spent 20+ years in Pediatric Dentistry (working with the dentist she went to as a child). She also logged a few years in general dentistry, including sedation dentistry and oral surgery, but for her Ortho is her favorite specialty. She loves the mix of adults and children, the fact that patients are choosing Ortho treatment vs. being told they need an often unwelcome procedure (root canal, extraction, etc.). She loves that we get to see our patients often and really get to know them. But the best part is that we get to see the happy endings of not only functional but beautiful smiles.

Erika is our Scheduling Coordinator. She may be new to the orthodontic field but she has worked in healthcare since 2016. She loves helping patients and works to make their visits to the office a pleasant one.

Erika, a California native, has lived in the Seattle area since 2003, with the exception of the three years she spent in Mombasa, Kenya with her family. She has been married to her high school sweetheart since 1997 and they have three college-age children and two rescue dogs, Rockwell and Mara. When not in the clinic, you can find her at a thrift store, antique mall, or an estate sale looking for treasures alongside her mom or in the pool hall playing with her husband in the GSAPA league.

It is our mission to provide you with affordable, high-quality treatment that fits your budget! We offer a variety of payment options to meet your needs. Our office accepts payments by cash, checks, and Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover credit cards. We also offer no-interest financing options through our office. We offer a discount for patients who pay for their treatment in full up front. If you have any questions about financing or payment, ask us! We will thoroughly explain your choices and work hard to accommodate your needs.

If your insurance covers orthodontic treatment, you will receive the benefit of reduced personal costs. Many insurance policies have a lifetime orthodontic benefit that is distinct from regular dental insurance. Insurance policies vary, so we will review your insurance to determine the appropriate course of action. Once treatment has started, we will file your claims.

Please remember that orthodontic insurance is a benefit for you or your child. If, during the course of treatment, your benefits change, the financially responsible party is accountable for all charges.
