Dr. Boogren was born and raised in the Detroit area. He attended Detroit Catholic Central High School and then went on to receive a biology degree from Albion College. He received his doctor of dental surgery degree from The University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in 2006
He is an active member in the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Detroit District Dental Society, and the Academy for Sports Dentistry. He attends multiple continuing education courses each year to learn the latest advanced dental techniques.
Dr. Boogren was an avid soccer player, where he played both in high school and in college. He enjoys spending time with his family at their cottage in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and in his free time, he also enjoys running, fishing, and boating. Dr. Boogren's wife Julie is a school teacher. Together they have a son named Jensen and a daughter named Elin.
A native of Southeast Michigan, Dr. Randy Freij was raised in Livonia. Dr. Freij graduated from Detroit Catholic Central High School in 1994. He received his undergraduate degree from Wayne State University and Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University in 2004. Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Freij completed a general practice residency at the VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Dr. Freij is active in a number of professional dental organizations including the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, the Academy for Sports Dentistry, and the Detroit District Dental Society. In 2006, Dr. Freij was appointed by Governor Jennifer Granholm to the Michigan State Board of Dentistry.
Dr. Freij is dedicated to keeping his skills current and staying informed of the most advanced dental procedures. He has completed numerous post-graduate courses in cosmetic dentistry, sports dentistry, and dental implants. Outside of the office, Dr. Freij enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys sports, reading, and cooking.
Dr. Mallory grew up in Farmington Hills and resides in Ann Arbor. Growing up, she attended Detroit Country Day School and the University of Michigan for her undergraduate studies. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Had an unexpected problem with a tooth. The staff was very accommodating and responded with an immediate solution. It was reassuring to be serviced by such a professional team. Dr. Boogren explained all procedures and gave helpful recommendations. Thanks to the entire organization!

I've been going to this office & Dr. Freij for a few year's now. He is gentle, efficient & skilled. You will never be "sold" or pushed to do a procedure that is not needed for dental health. Hygienist's, Maggie & Gracie are wonderful and do their best to keep you comfortable during the cleaning process. Front desk is friendly and helpful. I'm very glad I found this dental practice.

My previous dentist was no longer accepting my insurance. So the search began to find a new dentist. After looking over the dentists that my insurance provided me with I went with Superior Family Dental primarily because it was close to my job. I went in for my cleaning and the office staff were friendly and welcoming same with the hygienist. Looking forward to going back for my next cleaning!

Best dentist office EVER! Everyone is kind and helpful. The dentists are always thorough and super friendly! The hygienists are gentle and positive. They have the best, updated equipment and procedures. Makes going to the dentist so much less stressful if you go to a great place that's name says it all!

I came here for the first time for my anual checkup and they were just amazing, so I found out they see kids as well. I brought my 6yo son in and Miss Carolyn was soooo amazing with him. She talked with him a lot, let him feel comfortable and she did a perfect cleaning in his teeth. I really recommend this place!

I have been to a lot of dentists but my experience with Dr. Freij today was exceptional, he made sure I was numb and felt comfortable the entire time! His office staff is super friendly, they really welcome you and make you feel like family!!! I won't go anywhere else, I think I found my hero!

Up until today I would have rated SFD a 5. I have been bringing my sons for years and most recently began going myself. They have always been very kind and professional. However, and I can not stress this enough do not bring your kids here. The last time my kids were in for an exam/cleaning was in February 2020. Upon them taking my then 7 year old back, I told them he had complained of left upper tooth pain roughly a week earlier. Once the exam was completed they informed me that "everything looked fine". I even specifically asked if they saw anything in the area he complained about.... the response was "no, nothing". Today I had to sit through my son having to get not one but two teeth extracted due to both having an abscess and the cavities being too large to repair. One of the teeth extracted was the one he complained about that was mentioned at their last appointment, again, roughly two months ago. The pediatric dentist that performed the extractions said these cavities had to have been there for well over a year. My boys are seen regularly by SFD. I do NOT understand how this could have possibly not been seen and treated/ filled so that he could have avoided this traumatic experience. He never complained of pain except that one time and him being in my lap earlier this week laughing is what led me to see one abscess, the other one was discovered at his appointment today by X-ray. However, upon me noticing the abscess and looking around in his mouth both cavities were partially visible with my naked/untrained eye. Thankfully the teeth extracted are not permanent teeth however they are upper molars on opposite sides. So now he has to wait without those molars for approximately 2 years before his permanent teeth erupt. Please take your children somewhere else. Regular checkups SHOULD catch things like this. Unfortunately, and at an 8 year olds expense... this was not.
