Dr. Skaates is an Upper Peninsula native originally from Hancock. Her undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College was in mathematics. Dr. Skaates then graduated from University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1999. She completed a 1 year Advanced Educational Residency in General Dentistry with the United States Army in Germany.
She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, and is the past president of the local Superior District Dental Society. Dr. Skaates and her employees have been involved in supporting the dental program at Bay Cliff Health Camp. She also has provided onsite dental care to the residents of the Jacobetti Veteran's Home.

Staff was efficient as I had a pending appointment elsewhere. It was wonderful to meet Dr. Ford. Thanks for making a dental appointment as enjoyable as possible

Dr. Skaates and her office provide the highest level of dental care. She is very professional, competent and goes out of her way to make sure her patient's needs are met. Great dentist!!

For someone who had a lot of anxiety with going to a dentist I can say wholeheartedly that Dr Skaates and her team put me at ease. Not only is this office fun and inviting but the team is very dedicated to making sure you are comfortable every step of the way. I look forward to working with them again in the future! My Experience at Superior Dental on May 4th 2022 went good .My lady Dentist Carla is painless plus she's funny ,humorous ,Jennifer the hygienist is even more funnier .So is Abby at the front desk ,Jill is funny .

Always very accommodating. Appointments are fast and on time. Dr. Skaates and all of her staff are so friendly, nice, and understanding. Brandi & Dr Skaates did a great job with the temporary crown on my front tooth. It matched perfectly. The permanent crown looks even better.

Jill and Brandi are the best. It was my 1st time there and I was so welcomed by them. I felt so comfortable as Dentists are not my favorite. Dr. Skaates was wonderful. It was a pleasant experience and not a bad one as I expected. Thank you Brandi, Jill and Jessica for making me feel at home. And a big thank you to Dr. Skaates! I'm a college student which means my regular dentist is not in Marquette, so when I needed to see a dentist suddenly I had to find someone locally. Despite me not being a patient Superior Dental Care was able to fit me in within an hour of me calling and quickly fixed my issue. All the staff were extremely helpful and kind.
