Dr. Kristin Cavanah Mirda, DMD was born and raised in North Palm Beach, Florida where she grew up in an environment that inspired and paved a way to her career in pediatrics. Her love for kids stems from many years of experience as a swimming instructor, where she developed the confidence to earn the trust and respect of any child regardless of personality type. Her energy and loving personality makes dental visits extremely fun and entertaining for children.
After swimming for the University of Richmond and earning BS degrees in Biology and Communication, Dr. Kristin moved back to sweet home Florida to complete her doctorate of dental medicine at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale. While at Nova, Dr. Kristin participated in various missions, including trips to India and Jamaica where she provided dental support to underprivileged communities. Dr. Kristin would fulfill her dream by attending University of Floridas Pediatric Dentistry residency. During residency, she won the 2008 AAPD Healthy Smiles Healthy Children National Research Award. Today, Dr. Kristin is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD). She is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Florida Dental Association (FDA), American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (FAPD), Central Florida District Dental Association (CFDDA), and the Brevard County Dental Society.
Dr. Kristin lives in Indialantic with her husband, Mike, and their beautiful kids, Sadie, Piper, Jensen, and Briggs. Dr. Kristin loves the beach, surfing, looking for shells, running, and riding bikes. Youll hear about Dr. Kristin in the community as she regularly visits Brevard County schools to teach children about oral hygiene.
Idaigna M. Alvarez, DMD, MS graduated from the University of Puerto Rico Dental School in 1991. After graduating from Dental School she completed her Pediatric/Orthodontics residency at The Childrens Hospital of Alabama at Birmingham, where she was valedictorian and served as Chief Resident. She completed a Fellowship in cerebral palsy patient care and was involved in the care of medically compromised and handicapped children. Her program at the University of Alabama included orthodontics and the study of growth and development patterns in children. She received a Masters in Clinical Dentistry in 1994 and moved to Titusville.
Dr. Alvarez has been involved in childrens dental care in Brevard County since 1995. She joined Sunshine Smiles in 2013 and is excited to share her knowledge and passion in the dental care of children. She believes that any child can love coming to the Dentist if he or she is treated with kindness and compassion and lots of love. Her goal is to help the child develop good dental habits that will last throughout their lifetime, making their teeth stronger and healthier.
Today, Dr. Alvarez is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD). She is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Florida Dental Association (FDA), American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (FAPD), Central Florida District Dental Association (CFDDA), and the Brevard County Dental Society. She regularly volunteers at Brevard Children Services doing dental screenings for children in the Head Start program.
Dr. Alvarez moved to Brevard County with her husband, Dr. Denis Perez, an Ob/Gyn in Titusville. She has two beautiful children, Idans and Gabriel. On her free time, Dr. Alvarez attends her childrens sports events. She loves cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

This place is like no other!! My 7 kids are spoiled and loved every time we go!! No judgement just love and lots of lessons!! They are so full of knowledge and tips. From the doctors who really put their heart in every child's individual needs and personalities, to the team of hygienists who all are SO genuine and hardworking, we actually look forward to going to the dentist!! Those girls in the front though.... are THE BEST and full of laughs!! Pure SUNSHINE & SMILES EVERY TIME 10/10 for sure!

Amazing! Fantastic from the front desk, to the dental hygienists, to the dentist. The waiting room has games to keep the kiddos happy. Almost no wait time both times we've gone in. Once they call you back, they put both kids next to each other, have kid size sunglasses, and headphones with a tv to watch while they're laying down. They are so lighthearted and playful that they keep the kids happy throughout the appointment. Our 2 year old and 5 year old actually look forward to going to the dentist because of this place :-D

We went here for 5 years. Out of nowhere they dropped our insurance. No phone call, no email. Let me drive 45 minutes to my dentist appointment and didn't tell me my insurance would not be accepted.

Best pediatric dentist, Dr Kristin and her staff are like family... She gave my senior extra love for his last appointment and Landon is so excited to come back for his icon appointment so his calcification matches his tooth.

Delta Dental has this place listed as accepting new patients when in reality they are only accepting a portion of the pediatric community that is 4 years old and under. This is not advertised on their website. Don't waste your time filling out an appointment request online or bother calling unless your child is 4 years old or under.

This office and their staff was top notch. Dr. Alvarez was so kind and thorough. The entire staff was sweet and patient with my boys; one of which isn't the most cooperative when having to do something he doesn't want to do. Even at the end when the kids were playing with their prizes and testing my patience, the staff was kind and playful with them. They got to choose their toothbrush and their flavors. They had fun glasses and headphones so they could watch TV. With the design of their office I was able to feel like I was part of both of their appointments, which with bringing two young kids at the same time was important to me. I chose this office because of a recommendation, and I will for sure be telling our family and friends that this is the office to go to!

This is the absolute by far best children's dental office I have ever been to. One of my daughters does not like the experience of the dentis but she loves it there. Both of these female doctors make the children feel safe and welcome. Nothing in this office is scary. Everything is done in a manner to make the child feel as if the entire experience is fun. The amount of effort that they put in to make this happen exceeded my expectations. Sometimes it's hard to get an appointment because this place is so popular I can't even imagine how many customers they must have. I love this dental office and I encourage anyone looking for a dentist especially for children who are hesitant this would be your solution. A true joy!

I read the reviews and thought maybe I should go here and I called but the lady who answered was so rude. A dentist for kids should have employees that are kind of you don't like your job don't do it.

My kids LOVE going to the dentist! Never thought I would say that. Amazing staff and Doctors! They are truly so caring and knowledgeable. Their care is out of this world and always teaching kids and us parents everything related to dental health. Truly is a great experience from beginning to end.

I had been bringing both of my children to this dentist for years and loved it there for them. They were always busy.For a while before the pandemic I hadn't brought my children there.I called finally to get an appointment and was told to find another dentist because of how long it had been.I always paid my bills on time so that wasn't an issue.I have since found an even better dentist for them.I am not sure why they would turn away clients who had been loyal after years .

I called them to confirm this. You and Dr. Alvarez and the staff have always been amazing and I am so grateful for your services and advice and Anthony hasn't had a cavity yet!

I have been taking my daughter here for years and they (dentists, dental hygienists, and front desk staff) are always very accommodating and go out of their way to make her experience as positive as can be for both cleanings and other dental procedures. Both dentists are outstanding, but we are really grateful for Dr. Alvarez.

Dr. Kristin is such a lovely person, and the staff are all so sweet. My two-year-old was a little unsure at first, but everyone was so good to her. During the exam, my baby sat still with her head in Dr. Kristin's lap and let her complete the exam with barely any fuss. I love this place! I wish my older children were young enough to be patients here.

I can't recommend this pediatric dental practice enough. Both of my children go here and LOVE both dentists. My older one has had multiple fillings and he has never been frightened; in fact, he usually looks forward to it because he gets to pick a movie to watch while they are working. Dr. Kristen and Dr. Alvarez have taught me so much when it comes to caring for my little one's teeth; we have been cavity free the last three times we have visited thanks to their knowledge. The staff are caring and make the experience fun; my kids actually look forward to going to the dentist!
