Sunshine Family Dentistry was established in 1974 and has been serving customer's dental needs for over 39 years! Dr. Oxer joined Dr. Shriner in 1999 and in 2018, Dr. Veronee became part of the Sunshine Family Dentistry team. Dr. Shriner retired in 2011 after 35 years of service to Lake Placid and is now enjoying his retirement with his grandkids.
We are extremely fortunate to have a staff as talented as ours. Delivering excellence in dental care is truly a team effort that requires technical skills and 'people skills' that result in the best patient experience possible.
Our technical team includes three dental assistants andthree dental hygienists, licensed and registered with the State of Florida. All of our dental assistants achieve the Certification for Expanded Duties which gives our practice the capability to accomplish the most difficult cases, while at the same time making the patients feel comfortable during their visits.
Our hygienistsare highly trained and board certified to practice dental hygiene. The Preventive Oral Health Program is administered by our hygienists and is dedicated to keeping your dental health at the highest level possible by customizing your preventive plan to your needs.
Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant, where he served eight years as a helicopter instructor pilot. He departed the Army in June 1995 as a Captain to enter dental school at the University of Florida. He graduated with honors in 1999 with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and returned to Lake Placid to practice.
After a year of work experience in Tallahassee he entered dental school at Nova Southeastern University. He graduated in the top 20 in his class in 2018 with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and joined his family in Lake Placid, Florida to practice dentistry.

I came down from another state helping victims of hurricane Ian. I broke a tooth,and I called sunshine family dentist,they got me in right away, in front of other patients, and removed what was left of my tooth,I did not feel a thing ,first time ever,upon checking out ,I was not charged for this service. The dentist and all the nurses took the best care of me I have ever had and I thank them for that and appreciate what they did. THANK YOU Sunshine Family Dentist,u are the best,from the bottom of my heart

From the initial phone call, to make my first appointment after moving to Lake Placid, this dental practice exceeding my expectations, and I don't impress easily. The Receptionist, Doctor and Hygienist made me feel important and comfortable throughout both the initial and followup appointment. If you want the dental experience you think you deserve, make an appointment there.

I am visiting from out of state and needed to see a dentist for an emergency appointment. They got me in within an hour and were very friendly. I am terrified of dentists and can say that Dr Oxer and his staff went above and beyond to make it a pleasant experience. I have very minimal pain now after my tooth extraction and am shocked how painless everything was. I cannot recommend this dentist enough.

I was left hanging by Designer Dental. I had a broken tooth and then it absessed. Dr Leslie Celestina's office called and cancelled my broken tooth removal. I was in a lot of pain and needed an antibiotic. Designer Dental told me to call with my pharmacy of choice which I did and it was never sent over. Office hrs were until 5 and at 3:30 the doors were locked and no lights inside. Called the emergency number and now 3.5 hrs later no response. I googled dentists in my area and Sunshine Family Dentistry was listed. Called them and within 1.5 hrs u was on my way back home with broken tooth removed. Thank you so very much Dr Oxer. You and your staff were amazing!!! I will recommended everyone to you. I already called Designer Dental and cancelled my husband's cleaning for Monday and I wanted our latest x'rays.

2 years ago I had an impacted tooth. We didn't have a dentist here and at 7:50 a.m. on a Monday I called. Tedra answered the phone and told me to get there as soon as I could. Dr. Oxer saw me and got me started on antibiotics and EVEN CALLED a day or so later to check on me. We have had several major dental things done since, along with cleanings with Lauren. Both doctors and staff are friendly and go above and beyond. Love them all! Have used them ever since and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new dentist office.

I read many reviews before going here and what a relief that all of the 5 star comments are really true! It's obvious from when you first set foot in the office that they take great pride in their business and patients. The entire place was spotless, all of the employees were extremely nice and helpful. I saw Dr. Veronee after a traumatic fall 2 months ago. Going to the dentist for me is usually traumatic in itself but I was immediately put at ease. The doctor couldn't have been more thorough in his exam and went out of his way to explain everything in detail. He also gave me a few options to consider and made sure I wasn't left with any questions to the visit or future treatments. While my treatment is not over, I feel a lot of relief from my visit knowing that I'm in good hands. I rarely do reviews but when a place stands out like this it's well worth the time to do. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sunshine Dental.

Sharing this for my husband who doesn't do reviews or posts. He asked me specifically to write this. He was recently fitted and received a new crown by Dr. Oxer. He has had several crowns in his lifetime and this crown is the best fitting ever. He is completely satisfied and hopes he continues to serve our comunity for a long time.

I'm petrified of the dentist, and I had the most amazing experience with Dr. Veronee. I didn't even know dentists like him existed. It was such a completely different experience than ANY time I've been to a dentist. 24 hours after extraction, and I need no pain meds. Highly recommend seeing him specifically if you're afraid.
