In order to most effectively determine a diagnosis, these Henderson/Las Vegas endodontists use CBCT scanning and digital radiography in order to acquire the most information about your oral condition. Digital radiography renders and stores traditional x-ray images accurately and effectively with minimal radiation while CBCT scanning creates a 3-D image of your dentition and surrounding areas. Root canal procedures are always performed under microscopes for the best internal visualization possible. Routine utilization of automated rotary instrumentation allows for controlled and conservative yet more thorough preparations which in turn equates to less tooth removal, more residual strength, and, importantly, better disinfection and success. In addition, Dr. Dougherty and Dr. Biggs were the first in Nevada to incorporate the GentleWave Procedure, a technology that has revolutionized the cleansing and disinfection process.
Dr. William J. Dougherty, Jr. has been practicing endodontics in Las Vegas as a specialist since 1996 following a successful career as a general dentist in eastern Pennsylvania. He earned his DMD at University of Pittsburgh and his certificate as an endodontic specialist from Oregon Health Sciences University. Always looking to improve treatment outcomes, Dr. Dougherty was the first in Nevada to utilize the latest technological advancement in canal cleansing, GentleWave.
I really enjoy what I do. Returning to the graduate program at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland during a renaissance in endodontic research, theory, and technique made for an exciting time in the field. This period enjoyed a surge new in both thought and delivery modalities primarily due to the incorporation of novel technologies in the lab and clinical setting. The frontiers of what seemed to be a limited landscape expanded dramatically as forward thinking researchers and clinicians developed ideas, materials, and instruments for the next wave of endodontic care that continues still. Dr. Scott Biggs, DDS, grew up in Northern Arizona and the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas. After high school, Dr. Biggs attended Brigham Young University and earned a bachelors degree in microbiology. He continued his studies at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Dental School, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. After dental school, he entered the U.S. Navy and was a naval dentist for four years. During that time, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program and also was distinguished as a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, a distinction that fewer than 5% of general dentists earn. After practicing general dentistry for four years, Dr. Biggs continued his education by entering an endodontics residency at the Veterans Administration Endodontics Program in Long Beach, California. He has been practicing endodontics in Las Vegas since 2008.
Dr. Biggs loves his patient interaction and loves learning about his patients. Dr. Biggs is married to Christie and has five amazing children. In the precious little free time he has, he loves the outdoors. He can be found mountain biking, running, hiking, skiing, playing tennis, pickleball or racquetball, or pretty much anything active.

I will highly recommend Dr. Biggs at Sunset Endodontics. He was able to diagnose the gum problem I was suffering with and avoided root canal surgery. I was delighted!! His assistant Stephanie is charming and Alicia the office manager has the greatest personality!! Thank you so much to you all!

I just recently had a root canal and it was not at all like the horror stories I've heard about them. Since this was my first one I was scared but Dr. Biggs and his assistant put me at ease right away. The whole experience was a positive one and I will be going back for three more!!!

Both Dr. Biggs and Dr. Stout helped me, they and their amazing team went above and beyond to battle my pains! I'm from the Netherlands and my first dentist experience here in the USA wasn't the best. I didn't want to go back but after recommendation from other military spouses and when the pain got unbearable, I finally went to a new practice, Hillcrest Dental, where Dr Kasimi immediately recognised I needed to go to an endodontist asap. He arranged for me to see Dr. Stout that same day and he and the team were lovely, comforting and understanding of my pain. Did a rootcanal treatment on tooth 15 and I was so relieved to be treated! Sadly another tooth, tooth 12, decided to act up just 24 hours later, and this time the pain was even worse to the point I was crying and screaming at home, trying too many painkillers that did nothing. After batteling severe pain for over 6 hours in my entire left side of my face, my poor husband called Dr. Biggs and in the late hours he relieved my pain with locally numbing my mouth. The next morning he saw me in his practice called Sunset Endodontics and did a rootcanal treatment. Again, he and his team are amazing and hard working people that I felt safe with and well taken care of. I hope my teeth will behave from now on and that I will never need another appointment for crazy pains like this, because damn, this week has been a WILD ride so far. But if for some reason my teeth act up again, I know I'll be in great hands at Hillcrest Dental, Sunset Endodontics and Micro Endodontics! Thank you everyone!!!

Fantastic experience from start to finish! Everyone was knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. They made sure I was comfortable from start to finish. I have had other root canals before but this technology was amazing. Very little discomfort that day, and zero the following day. Definitely will recommend to people I know.
