Dr. Arabelle McNamara or Dr. Mac grew up in Jersey City but is originally from the Philippines. After having extensive dental work done on herself; including root canals, external sinus lift, implant placements, and many fillings she can confidently say, I know what some of my patients are going through.
The most valuable takeaway from her personal experience is her heightened motivation in educating patients about oral health and functional dentistry. Dr. McNamara considers herself as a dental physician who focuses on detecting underlying root causes and abnormalities that may have led to a patients dental concern. When meeting her you will find that Dr. McNamara delivers a strong dose of humanity, recognizing that compassion and empathy are of equal importance with the care she delivers.
Dr. McNamara graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Biology and received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Rutgers School of Dentistry. Upon graduation she completed a General Dentist Residency in Jersey City Medical Center. She continues to enhance her knowledge through continuous education frequently.
Dr. McNamara is married to her college sweetheart, Dennis. When not in the office, she is out looking for hiking trails with her son Manny. Her hobbies include spending time with her family, eating, singing, riding her peloton, and cooking.

I was very happy when i left the clinic today, and very satisfied for their service. All the staff were all pleasant to talk to. Jonathan, the receptionist, helped me schedule my next appointment and picked the best time to my convenience. Dr. McNamara is very professional, knowledgeable, and she answered all my questions and concerns. Her assistant is very good and very patient. The hygienist, Amy, is very gentle. I will definitely recommend her, the clinic is very clean. I love my new dentist. See you in 6 months.

The office was so inviting. All procedures for covid19 were excellent. Of course, Dr.D'amica runs an office well above par. He makes me so relaxed and confident of my visit.

Don't let the physical attributes of the dentist fool you. While she might outwardly look like a young girl ( she might well be that) she knows her stuff and handles herself very professionally. In a dental atmosphere one feels comfortable just as soon as she starts talking to a patient. I did feel that way. The staff is very friendly. No pressure here compared to my previous dentist. I recommend this dental practice anytime.

When we went to Sunset Dental, I expected that my son would see Dr. Sebastian. But it was a different dentist. It took her 3 tries (that's 3 shots) of novocaine before my son was comfortable and not feeling the drilling. Those 3 shots resulted in him being in great pain after the novocaine wore off. This lasted throughout the night. The dentist also recommended that a previous filling be replaced even though it was not that old. My son is only 17, the filling should not need to be replaced already. So my confidence in this dentist is pretty low right now. Only good thing was everyone seemed very nice and friendly but the dentist which is the important factor did not give a good feeling after the pain my son went through.

I went with my 2 children and I had a wonderful experience at Sunset dental. The staff was pleasant, the office was spotless, comfortable and they took all precautions necessary to keep everyone safe. The dental work was great and they are very gentle. Highly recommend!

My first time here and I'm very happy with my first cleaning/check-up experience! The staff, Carmela, Karen, Nia and Dr. Mac are super friendly and accommodating. The office is clean, modern and all precautions are taken during this pandemic. There's no long wait either. Dr. Mac, was very personable and thorough in her detailed explanations regarding my exam. She answered any questions that I had and did the cleaning/ gum assessment herself. She and Nia were very concerned about my comfort throughout the entire process. They even took the time to find out about me personally! I can't say enough good things about my experience here! I was very impressed! This was the first time I didn't absolutely hate having my teeth cleaned! I have finally found my dentist! I would highly recommend this practice to family and friends!

I really appreciate my first visit at Sunset Dental with Dr. Mac, Nia, and Carmela. The positive experience started with scheduling an appointment with Carmela to ending with a great check up and cleaning. I cannot get over how kind and warm everyone was. It was the most informative and thorough dental appointment I've ever had. I'm 35 years older so that says a lot. Thank you Sunset Dental for the awesome experience!
