Attended Ferris State University for 1 year. Graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree with honors in Zoology. Graduated from University of Michigan in 1978 with a Degree of Dentistry. In 1976 Dr Hensel was commissioned as an Ensign in United States Naval Reserve. Served 2 years active duty as a Navy Dentist with rotations in Oral Surgery, Periodontics Surgery and Endodontics. In June of 1980 Promoted to Lieutenant commander. His commission was deactivated in 1991.
