Being a part of so many peoples lives, and a part of the community that they live in, is an absolute honor. The trust parents and patients place in our team is born from continued diligence to treat them like family. The difference in terms of patients health and well-being can be tangible, but the immeasurable impact of orthodontic care on a patients lifetime makes this profession stand out.
I am most passionate about creating the most beautiful smile possible for each patient. Moving teeth is important, but creating a beautifully balanced face and smile are what gives my patients their confidence and positive self-image.
What I love about my patients is their growth. Watching young kids grow and develop into young adults and being a part of their personal journey is very rewarding. The changes adolescent children go through into young adults are nothing short of amazing. For adults, their growth in self-confidence and the appreciation for achieving improvement in something they have lived with for so long is equally gratifying.
Continuing education is extremely important to me professionally, because as an orthodontist I never quit learning, applying, and perfecting my abilities to provide the best orthodontic care for my patients I can. Todays technological advancements have vastly improved orthodontics for our patients, making the experience more comfortable and less time consuming, while making their smiles even better.
I participate in local and national continuing education classes offered by organized dentistry and dental manufactures every year. Additionally, I belong to an orthodontic study club of 11 regional orthodontists who meet approximately seven times during the year. Distance learning through journal reviews offer service of over more than half a dozen dental related professional publications.
I have been practicing orthodontics for over 20 years, since 1994. My choice for this profession was made very early in life, as my father was an orthodontist, and I worked in his office starting in high school. I had the honor of taking over his practice in 1994 and combined, we were able to provide orthodontic services at that location for 48 years. I have been also providing orthodontic care at my present location since 2003.
We strive to provide outstanding orthodontic service in a fun, family-friendly setting. Through in-office games, patient rewards, theme days and more, we are committed to making this experience the best it can be.
I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and have lived in Happy Valley since 2005. My wife, Shelly, and I have two children, Noelle and Jaeden, two granddaughters, Addison and Bryden, and a dog named Ziggy. When Im not working I enjoy family time, being outdoors, skiing, fishing, and traveling in our RV. I am passionate about travel, music, and the adventure of going new places. I find beauty in all things natural.
I have been active in the community helping with community sports, spending 12 years coaching my kids childhood teams and clubs to help promote their experience. I believe a commitment to the community is a strong character value, and showing the kids my commitment to them helps reinforce this attitude.
As treatment coordinator, I get meet every new patient and their families, help them plan their treatment journey, and work with a great team everyday! Seeing patients grow from the first time they walk into our office until the day they finish their treatment is so rewarding. I live in the area with my husband, two boys, and two dogs.
Hi there, Im Susie! Ive been a financial coordinator in orthodontics since 2003. My journey is a unique one, I worked at Sunnyside Orthodontics for 6 years, then worked at Dr Browns old office in SE Portland for 12 years for his former partner, and now Ive found myself back here again! I enjoy getting to know patient families and watching smiles transform over treatment. Just excellent. Cannot possibly express how grateful we are. Interpersonally, this whole office is unmatched. But the work is also stellar. Feeling pretty blessed to have found them and Dr. Brown. Bringing my third kiddo in now! Thank you All so much.

Amazing experience and comfortable, friendly atmosphere. Everything is explained to you prior to procedures so, there are no surprises. I usually feel very apprehensive when going to the dentist but, felt very much at ease with Dr. Brown and his staff. I would highly recommend them!!!

Dr. Michael Brown and his team here are amazing! Always available to help. My son broke his band and his wire was cutting the inside of his mouth and they had someone on call for him to go get it taken care of over the weekend! Michael has great patience with his patients and makes smiles look great for years!!! The cost is very reasonable and you get above and beyond service with him and his team!!!

My son and I are both really happy we chose Sunnyside Orthodontics. The entire staff is so wonderful and friendly. My son had to have significant movement of several of his teeth and the results with Invasalign have been amazing.

Dr. Brown and his staff are fantastic! If you are looking for the best in orthodontic care, look no further. Dr. Brown is an expert in the field! He takes the time to thoroughly explain the treatment plan every step of the way. His office staff is amazing beginning with the receptionist to the extremely knowledgeable and skilled technicians. Everyone at this office is so caring and professional.

The entire team at Sunnyside Orthodontics has been warm, welcoming and professional. Tami is a GEM! I'm on my 2nd kid's braces and **communication as to progress has been very clear and direct** They are always on time with the appointments. We've only waited a few minutes longer when there was an emergency. Their reminder system is very effective and is extremely helpful if you have a busy schedule. Lastly, I would recommend Dr. Brown because he is an expert in his field and his team seems cohesive, very knowledgeable and very organized. If you follow directions, the outcome is fantastic.

No one enjoys getting any kind of dental work done, but Dr. Brown & team make it a little easier. From start to end, you're greeted with smiling faces and are treated like family. Highly recommend if you're looking for some new friends who happen to specialize in ortho!! ;)

Love Love LOVE Dr. Brown & the Entire Sunnyside staff. If you can, go here! They are so sweet and personable. I wish they had a regular dental office too (not just ortho). I'd go here for everything if I could. From reception, to accounting, to assistants, they are AMAZING!!! I was referred by two of my cousins. Now about four members of our family have been to Dr. Brown for braces. My husband comes to my appointments from time to time just say hello. We Love everyone at Sunnyside Ortho!
