I have been married since 2001, and have two wonderful boys. I love my family and the adventures we find ourselves in on the weekends. Nicole, Hygienist I am a native Oregonian, born and raised in the greater Portland area. I graduated from the Mt. Hood Community College Dental Hygiene Program in 1993 after spending a few years studying at Portland State University. I have been privileged enough to work with Dr. Hikade and an amazing staff for over 2 decades. It has also been a pleasure taking care of wonderful patients that have become dear friends in that time. Because of that, I have the unique experience to take care of three generations of families. What a blessing! My children and I live in Oregon City where we enjoy its rich history, fabulous library and lots of adventures. Added bonus there are two Dutch Bros within walking distance and great hills for many a productive walk!

Kelley, Hygienist I was born and raised in Southern Oregon, but I have been in Portland since 1997 where I attended Portland State University and Mt. Hood Community College. I have been a hygienist since 2002 and have been working with Dr. Hikade since 2006. In my spare time I love going for long runs, or taking my kids to the park anything outside.

Deanna, Hygienist I was born and raised here. I have worked in the dental field since 1998. I am very fortunate to be part of the team at Sunnyside Dentistry. My family and I live in Happy Valley, and in my spare time I enjoy spending time with them.

Kimberly, Hygienist I am a Portland native and love taking advantage of all the outdoor adventures this area has to offer, camping, hiking, biking, and kayaking. Although I really love spending time with my grandchildren, Kaylee and Emmet. When Im not spending time with them you can find me with my wonderful family and friends.

I have been in Dental Hygiene for over 32 years now and I truly enjoy building strong bonds with my patients. I want to provide all of my patients with the opportunity to be healthier and I feel honored to be able to help them with the preventative and maintenance aspect of dentistry.

I have belonged to the Gum Gardener's Study Club for many years where I'm updated with the most current education and techniques in dentistry. Not only do I have a very gentle technique, but I also have access to the most current hygiene technology available in dentistry.

I am in awe of both Dr. Dick and Dr. Brooke's very caring level of work, and I think the utmost of their beautiful dentistry! I pride myself in going above and beyond to provide the highest level of quality for each and every patient. I enjoy my life outside of the office, but Dental Hygiene is my passion! I feel such gratitude for the trust my patients give, and having such an impact on their health holds so much meaning to me!

Stephanie, Hygienist I was raised in Southern Oregon and graduated with my dental hygiene degree in 1986 from Oregon Tech. I met my husband Mike there and we have been married since 1989. We have a daughter Danielle and son Ryan who also graduated from Oregon Tech, so we 're a 'Hustin Owl' family.

Cleanings and ExamsIn addition to daily brushing and flossing, it is recommended that you have your teeth professionally cleaned and examined every six months. Cleanings are performed to help you prevent the formation of oral health issues like cavities and gum disease by removing all buildup from the surfaces of your teeth, including plaque, bacteria, and stubborn tartar. We can access all areas of your teeth, including those you cannot easily access at home. Exams are performed to help detect the presence of oral health issues in their earliest stages before symptoms begin to appear. By detecting issues early, we can provide you with minimally invasive treatment to prevent more serious consequences later

Fluoride and SealantsFluoride and sealants are two treatments that we provide to help you prevent cavities. They are designed to work in conjunction with good oral hygiene practices. Fluoride is a topical treatment that we apply to the surfaces of your teeth. The fluoride absorbs into your tooth enamel, where it helps to remineralize your teeth, strengthening them and helping them to fight off acid attacks. Sealants are a treatment that is applied to the surfaces of your molars. They are meant to cover over the deep crevices on the surfaces of these teeth, preventing food particles and bacteria from getting trapped. They also help to make the molars easier to keep clean

Periodontal DiseasePeriodontal disease, commonly called gum disease, is a progressive oral health issue that affects your gums, your teeth, and their supporting structures. It begins when plaque and bacteria accumulate on your teeth. These substances irritate your gums, causing inflammation. Swollen gums pull away from your teeth, leading to the formation of periodontal pockets. Bacteria can get into these pockets, where they begin to attack your periodontal ligaments and jawbone. Advanced stages of periodontal disease can lead to gum recession, loose teeth, and tooth loss. With preventative treatment, we can help to prevent the formation of periodontal disease. Scaling and Root PlaningScaling and root planing is a common periodontal treatment performed to prevent periodontal disease from worsening. This particular treatment is a deep cleaning of all surfaces of your teeth both above and below the gum line. Scaling involves the cleaning of the visible surfaces of your teeth, with special attention paid around and just under the gum line. Root planing involves the smoothing of your root surfaces. By removing buildup, we help to eliminate gum irritation, which enables your tissues to begin healing
