Dr. Dan Bednarczyk received a Bachelor of Science in Genetics from the University of Kansas. He remained in Lawrence for two more years doing post-graduate teaching and research in Molecular Biology. Dr. Bednarczyk graduated with his Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 2001. Upon graduation from Dental School, Dr. Bednarczyk was awarded the AAOMS Implantology Award for his superior work with the placement and restoration of dental implants. He has since completed advanced training and coursework in the surgical placement of dental implants.

Following graduation, he became a General Practice Resident at the University of Iowa-Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. This program furthered his cosmetic and restorative skills in addition to providing advanced clinical training in oral surgery and intravenous sedation. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Bednarczyk relocated to Denver and was an associate in a large group practice for four years. Very soon after the birth of their first child, the new family of three returned home to Johnson County. Dr. Dan opened Sunnybrook Dental in November of 2006.

Dr. Bednarczyk completed the requirements and became a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2009, recognizing his leadership in the field. He is currently working towards his requirements for the distinction of a Fellowship in the academy. Dr. Dan is a member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and his surgical residency at Iowa and subsequent continuing education has earned him a special sedation certificate, in which he is one of only a few dentists in the state with this level of certification. He is also one of only a handful of dentists in the state that has staff privileges at two local hospitals. Dr. Dans brother is part of the JCDS program and was his main inspiration to obtaining this level of distinction in sedation dentistry - so he can provide him and many other patients with the dental care they need but find it difficult to receive.

He is a member of the American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association and Fifth District Dental Society. Dr. Dan has volunteered his dentistry at free clinics in The Dominican Republic and Venezuela, along with the local organizations of Kansas Mission of Mercy, Missouri Mission of Mercy, and he was one of the founding members of and actively volunteers for TeamSmile in Kansas City.

Dr. Dan loves traveling with family and experiencing the outdoors. Skiing is his true sports passion, but he dabbles in golf and fishing as well! He is a private pilot and loves to fly and as luck would have it, his oldest has the aviation bug too. Most of his spare time is spent with his wife and kids, and youngest and newest daughter Birdie the Sheep-a-Doodle. With two active high-school drivers in the home and the demand for chauffeuring diminishing, there is more time to get Birdie to her various activities! As a family, they try to get to Colorado or Montana for camping, fishing, and skiing each year, but due to the middle-childs demands are pledging to take more trips to the ocean in the coming years.

Dr. Jeremy is originally from Denver, Colorado. He attended The University of Colorado at Boulder for his Undergraduate Degree in Integrative Physiology and then remained in Denver for a year performing Cancer research. From there, his professional aspirations took him to Kirksville, MO for his Doctorate at the A.T. Still Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health. Upon graduation, Dr. Johnston was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honors Society in recognition of his Academic accomplishments. After completion of his D.M.D., Dr. Johnston began practicing in the Kansas City area. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association and Fifth District Dental Society. He also volunteers for Kansas Mission of Mercy and Missouri Mission of Mercy, local organizations that provide dentistry for those in need of dental care without the resources to access it.

Dr. Johnston is passionate about the clinical practice of General Dentistry and being able to provide his best oral health care to patients. With an excellent chairside manner and friendly demeanor, he has the ability to deliver that care in a low-stress and comfortable setting.

Outside of Dentistry, Dr. Jeremy is a fan of all things Colorado sports - especially the Broncos and the Rockies. In his free time, he likes to read, watch sports, and travel. He has a passion for golf, skiing in his native Colorado, and hiking with his Fiance and their Golden Lab, Tucker.

Dr. Kayla Hanna grew up in rural Kansas before relocating to Missouri to attend college. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Central Missouri, during which time she spent a semester abroad studying business in Athens, Greece and Groningen, Netherlands. Dr. Hanna then pursued her aspirations of dental school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry, where she graduated with her Doctor of Dental Surgery. During her time at UMKC School of Dentistry, she received numerous awards for her achievements there, including graduating Magna Cum Laude and being inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.

Following graduation, Dr. Kayla completed an Advanced Education of General Dentistry Residency at Wichita State University, where she learned state of the art techniques in Implants, Endodontics, Periodontics and Oral Surgery. Upon completion of her residency, Dr. Hanna relocated to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she joined a private practice in general dentistry as an Associate Doctor there. Very soon after the birth of their first daughter, the Hanna family moved back home to Kansas City to be closer to family and friends, and she joined our Sunnybrook Dental team at that time.

Dr. Hanna is a member of the American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. She has volunteered in Cuzco, Peru providing dental treatment to the underserved, and she continues to be actively involved in the Missouri Mission of Mercy, Kansas Mission of Mercy, TeamSmile and other local community events.

Audrey started her college experience by playing softball at Neosho County Community college for two years, while she worked on prerequisites for Dental Hygiene School. She graduated from Johnson County Community College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Audrey has been with Sunnybrook Dental since the doors were opened in November 2006.As a Dental Hygienist, she enjoys helping people understand the importance of a healthy mouth and how that connects to our total health. She values the relationships she has built with our patients over the years.Additionally, Audreys natural leadership skills and years of experience at Sunnybrook have made her an excellent director of our Dental Hygiene team and philosophy.

Audrey has a little girl and little boy. They love spending time with family and friends and getting outdoors as much as possible. March Madness is one of her favorite times of the year, but she is also unapologetically a fan of the Bachelor Franchise. Audrey vows to get back to the volleyball courts once her kids get a little older!

Rachel received her Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology from the University of Kansas in 2009 and joined our front administrative team upon graduation. Although she enjoyed her time on the 'business' side of dentistry, she knew that she really wanted to be in direct patient care. While still a part of our team, she continued on to receive her second degree, a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from UMKCs School of Dentistry. With her initial roots at Sunnybrook Dental from the front office, Rachel remains involved in that aspect of our practice and directs our marketing efforts, among other things. She is fascinated by science and loves to read the most current research on anything and everything health related.

Rachel and her husband have three young children - a son and a daughter, and a baby boy. They spend as much time with their families as possible, with frequent get togethers. They love getting outdoors with their kids and are having fun watching them dive into sports and dance activities. You can also find them watching / supporting anything related to their alma mater (Rock Chalk!) and all Kansas City sports teams, for that matter!

Paula has been in the dental field since 2010, starting as a receptionist and becoming inspired to work more with patients directly. She began dental assisting, completed her Certified Dental Assisting studies, and then continued on to follow her goals to become a Dental Hygienist. She received her Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene through Johnson County Community College in 2016. Paula loves all aspects of the dental practice, but she has definitely found her niche in direct patient care, as a dental hygienist, where she has the most time to get to know her patients one-on-one.

Paula and her husband, her high school sweetheart, have been married since 2012. They have two sons, Mack and Gareth. She loves all things soccer - she and her boys are Sporting KC's biggest fans, and they go to as many games as they can. She also loves binge watching any great series on Netflix!

Erin received her Bachelor of Science in Community Health, with a minor in Psychology, from the University of Kansas in 2011. Shortly after, she joined our Sunnybrook team as a dental assistant. After a year with us, Erin furthered her education and receivedan Associate of Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene from Johnson County Community College in 2014. She loves herrole asone of our hygienists and getting to know all her patients!

Erin and her husband, Brandon, just had their first baby! Theyre quickly learning how fast the days go by, as they watch their son, Riggs, grow before their eyes. They enjoy spending time with family, friends, and their two dogs, Koda and Django. They love watching all the professional Kansas City sports teams be successful!

Taylor started her professional career completing her prerequisites for Dental Hygiene school at Johnson County Community College. She then graduated at the top of her class from Concorde Career College, with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Taylor loves building relationships with her patients, while also educating them on the importance of their overall oral health.

Taylor was born in Kansas, but she grew up in Northern Kentucky until moving back to Kansas to play softball for Johnson County Community College. She has called Kansas City her home since 2010. Taylor and her husband, Justin, enjoy spending time outdoors with family, friends, and their two dogs, Millie and Ruby. They both enjoy football season and cheering on the Chiefs and Kansas State!

Danielle has been in the dental field since 2013. She started her career in the field as a dental assistant, until she was then accepted into Johnson County Community Colleges Dental Hygiene Program in 2015. Upon graduation in 2017, she started working in a Periodontal specialty practice. Although she loved working in Periodontics for those four years, she decided it was time for a change, and were lucky that change was to join our team here at Sunnybrook Dental. Danielles favorite aspect of working in general dentistry is being able to utilize her specialized skills in periodontics, while also seeing a wider range of patient need. She loves getting to know her patients and building relationships with them through the years!

Danielle is originally from Wichita, but she has lived in Kansas City since 2013. She fell in love with this area and met her husband here, making this her home. Danielle and her husband have four dogs and a cat. They are their children, and if they aren't playing in their backyard with them, then youll find them, at the gym, hiking, traveling, or binge-watching their favorite shows.

Emily received her first Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Missouri Valley College in 2010. She then decided to continue her education and attended UMKCs School of Dentistry, where she received a second Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. Emily has been working in the private practice setting since getting her dental hygiene degree in 2013. She joined our practice in January 2019 and loves spending her Fridays working with us, just as much as we love having her here!

Emily grew up in a small farm town in central Missouri, but she has called downtown Kansas City home since 2011. In her free time, youll find Emily visiting family and friends, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, MIZZOU Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals and traveling as much as she can!

Abby received her Dental Assistingand CPR Certifications in May of 2013, and she joined our team shortly after completing those. Her bright personality and passion for helping others have made her the perfect fit as one of our chairside dental assistants. On top of that, her natural organization abilities, years of experience, and wonderful ideas on how implement our systems and approach to clinical care have made her the perfect fit for our Dental Clinic Coordinator position.

Jessica graduated from Summit Dental Assisting Academy in 2013. She is a Certified Dental Assistant, Expanded Functions Orthodontic Assistant, Certified in Sedation, CPR Certified, and OSHA Certified. Jessica started her life journey in dentistry by specializing in Orthodontics. Following this, she expanded her knowledge into General Dentistry, where she gained experience in different specialties of dentistry. Jessicas upbeat and outgoing personality are comforting to our patients, and she has quickly become a fantastic addition to our team!

Jessica was born and raised in Kansas City, MO, but dont let her start in the city fool you. She is a country girl at heart. In her free time, she devotes her time to her beautiful 6-year-old daughter and her family. Jessica loves to travel, enjoys crafting, and spending time outdoors.

Cassie began her career in the dental field in 2007, bringing 14 years of experience to Sunnybrook Dental. After graduating from cosmetology school in 2006, she earned her Associate of Applied Science at Maple Woods Community College. Soon after that, Cassie became a Certified Dental Assistant. She is Expanded Function Certified in Orthodontics, and she spent 10 of her 14 years in dentistry specializing in Orthodontics. Cassies orthodontic expertise has made her the perfect addition to our team, taking the lead on our clear orthodontic aligner treatments at Sunnybrook Dental. She is also OSHA and CPR certified. Although Cassie has experience in all aspects of a dental office, she loves being a clinician the most, so she is able to get to know her patients and build relationships with them. Cassie is very outgoing and loves to talk she wants to make sure our patients enjoy coming to see us.

Cassie was raised in a small, country town in Northwest Missouri, but has called The Northland of Kansas City her home for the last few years. Cassie and her husband have two daughters, who keep them very busy with all of their sports and extracurricular activities. In her spare time, you will find her at Target, Starbucks, or back up north enjoying time with her family, hunting, fishing, camping, or spending time with friends.

Jayme has been in the dental field for over two years. She knew she wanted to enter the field because of her love for teeth, teamwork and caring for people. After starting in Dental Assisting, she knew she had found her career in taking care of people and their smiles. Jayme helps patients enjoy their dental experience with her exceptional chairside assisting skills and tender touch.

Jean has been with Sunnybrook Dental as a business consultant and practice management sage since 2010. As a Certified Dentrix Trainer and CPA, her experience has been an invaluable resource to us. Sunnybrook Dental grew tremendously from her counseling with us over the years, and so we were thrilled when she decided that she wanted a shift in her career that would mean significantly less travel for her the stars aligned for us to hire her as our remote Office Manager. She keeps up with her responsibilities from her home in southwest Missouri and travels periodically each month to be on-site with our business team.

Jeans background is in bookkeeping and accounting with Waddell and Reed, until she shifted her career path towards dentistry in 1998. She gained many years of experience as a dental office manager then continued on that path by furthering her education and becoming a Certified Dentrix Trainer. She started a dental office consulting business, which she has been doing for the past 22 years, joining Team Sunnybrook Dental in the summer of 2020.

Stacey joined the Sunnybrook Dental team in 2019 with nearly 25 years of background experience in administration/management, and she has been working in the dental field since 2018. We were happy to have her join us with background knowledge in patient accounts and maintaining an effective patient schedule. She is also CPR certified and has completed numerous continuing education courses since starting at Sunnybrook Dental. Stacey loves the atmosphere of working in a dental practice and has enjoyed getting to know the Sunnybrook Dental family.

Stacey and her husband have six children between them, three boys and three girls. They met and dated in 1990, then reconnected and got married 20 years later! Stacey loves spending time with her family, trying new restaurants, and date nights with her husband and friends. She also enjoys a good home renovation project, when she can find the spare time for it.

Before beginning her career in the dental industry, Becky was a custom framing Manager at Michaels for almost ten years. She was encouraged by a close friend to pursue a career in the dental field, and she is so glad that she did. Becky has been working on the professional side of dentistry since 2018, with her background as Benefits Coordinator. She had extensive knowledge of our dental software and the ins and outs of patient accounts, and we were thrilled to have her join our team in 2020.

Becky grew up in Topeka and went to Kansas State University, where she studied abroad in Italy for a semester. She graduated with her Art History degree in 2008, and then moved to Overland Park. She now lives in Olathe with her three young daughters. In her free time, she enjoys reading and going to her book club every month. She also enjoys baking, which we all benefit from here at the office!

Stephanie was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri. She graduated from Missouri Western State University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and an emphasis in Administration. Prior to joining our team, Stephanie worked in a Cardiology Specialty practice for eleven years as part of their front office staff, medical records and authorization team.

Stephanie and her boyfriend have a dog named Wesley and snapping turtle, Snips. They enjoy doing anything outdoors including gardening, hiking, exploring new trails and parks, and spending time with friends. Stephanie also loves to cook and come up with new, original recipes, but her true passion is fishing! She tries to spend as much time as possible fishing in the Spring and Fall. Theyre avid Chiefs fans and would never miss watching a game!

Malinda graduated from the American institute of Medical and Dental Technology in Utah in May of 1996. She then began her dental assisting career in Idaho and has since worked as a dental assistant in Utah, Washington, and Georgia. Malinda spent ten years in pediatric dentistry, before coming back to general dentistry when joining our team. As her husbands job allowed her to see many different states, we were lucky when it brought her to Kansas in 2020, and she joined our team. Although Malinda loved working in the clinical side of dentistry, she wanted to make the transition to the administration side. Her knowledge of dental assisting has proven to be an asset in the front office.

Birdie was born in Olathe, KS before being adopted and relocating to Fairway, KS in the summer of 2020. She put in numerous hours of hard work training in the home and at various classes to obtain her Canine Good Citizen certificate from the American Kennel Club in the spring of 2021. She officially joined the Sunnybrook Dental team shortly after this, as our hired mascot and friendly greeter of patients. Her calm demeanor, excitement for meeting new people, and unequivocally soft fur coat made her the perfect pup for the job.

When shes not being petted by our patients or our other team members at the office, you can find Birdie watching The Office, fetching balls, or excelling in marathon naps at her home. She also enjoys her regular play-dates at BarKC with her litter-mates.
