Dr. Elaine Sunga is a long-time resident of southern San Diego County and a graduate of Bonita Vista High School. She attended the University of California at Los Angeles, where she received a B.S. in Biology and graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Sunga went on to receive her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from UCLA, one of the top dental institutions in the country. Dr. Sunga continued her education to receive her Certificate of Specialty in Orthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia, a prestigious Ivy League institution. There, she spent two years of specialized academic and clinical instruction on orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. Upon completion, Dr. Sunga returned home to Bonita to begin her career as an orthodontist. Originally located next to the Eastlake post office in Chula Vista, Sunga Orthodonticsfound its current home on Windward Way in 2014.
Dr. Sunga is a board-certified orthodontic specialist and a member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists (PCSO), California Association of Orthodontists American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), San Diego Dental Society, and the American Association of Woman Orthodontists. Dr. Sunga was also featured as one of San Diegos esteemed Top Dentists in the May 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 issues of San Diego Magazine, and also as one of Americas Top Dentists since 2008, awarded by the Consumers Research Council of America. In July of 2010 she was honored with the Rising Star Award by the Phil-Am Bid Association.
Dr. Sunga is married to Brian, a physician specializing in pulmonary and critical care medicine. They have four sons. Dr. Sunga enjoys cooking, baking, reading, hiking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Absolutely the BEST and most affordable place for kids braces! My oldest daughter just finished her treatment (2 years) and her smile is just as AMAZING as the staff and their service have been!! BIG THANK YOU to Jonathan & Trish- both provide consistent exceptional customer service! Thank you so much for being so accommodating when scheduling appointments and for providing excellent customer service! They seem ok for new patients that don't already have braces, nice equip. etc.. but I wouldn't come here if you're a transfer patient..they want to charge me the full price of braces (6k) even tho I've gotten two different opinions now that quoted me around 3-4k and I have under a year left, TWO different doc have told me this, but here at Sunga they said I have a full 18 months! that's what I started off with!! The orthodontist came in and didn't even examine my teeth fully, no scans were taken just pictures, and she didn't even go over those to show my differences like other offices do. I feel like bc I told them I concerned about the money they think I can't afford it so they didn't want to waste their precious rss on me..but I can very well afford it, I'm just not going with a place that's just after my money and can't even give me a proper treatment plan until I give them a down payment?! No other place has done this, at least they tell me the plan, while showing me the issues with my teeth, then talk about money. She came in for 2secs repeating the same stuff over and over, which was nothing. and their financial dude showed me a presentation for braces and how they put them on as if I'm not sitting in their office with a full set of braces already, so overall the entire visit was a waste of time.. he actually is the one that told me, they don't wanna do any scans, in case I choose not to come to them... sooo basically your hungry and greedy at the same time! Once he said that, it was official I wasn't going to them. The office I'm now going to go to, said it was a good decision to get another opinion bc it's clear they're just after more money, and that it seems a little silly to even quote a transfer 6k at 18mo bc that's a typical FIRST TIMER quote, and my alignment doesn't need 18 months to be fixed!! Everyone I've met out here so far has said it sounds stupid and ridiculous and I shouldn't go, so I'm not. The ppl are nice tho, but they're definitely trying to gip

I love sunga orthodontics because the people here are always so welcoming and nice! Everytime i come here im excited to see their smiling faces(even with the masks)! Dr. Sunga and her team always explains and talks to us in detail about what is about to happen and what to expect. Very clean office too!

Been at Dr Sunga's office for my 10 yr old son i can say its been the best ever experience at a Dental office, as parents they make us feel like a family, they go step by step explaining the whole process, they answer all our questions/concerns and worries, they ask my son questions ad well and that means alot. The office is son higiene, super clean and customer service its excellent, they even open the front door for the patients and family. Dr Sunga and her cousin very patient with us and so nice . So happy ti have my son with then. Thank you all for all you do for my son, he loves to come to your office.

Dr. Sunga and her staff are always professional! I love their attention to details. The office is very clean and organized. One thing I absolutely love is the air purifiers. I fell very safe when I'm in the office. The way they manage patients is amazing. I am lol icky that our family found an awesome place for our orthodontic needs.
