Dr. Michael Browning grew up in Winfield, Kansas, where he graduated from Winfield High School. He attended Kansas State and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. While at Kansas State, Dr. Browning started the KSU pre-dental club. He was its president for two years before graduating.
Then, Dr. Browning attended dental school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in Lincoln, Nebraska. Between his third and fourth years of dental school, he married Sarah, a dental school classmate. In 2005, both graduated from Nebraska withDoctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degrees.
Dr. Michael has always enjoyed working with children, which naturally led him into the field of pediatric dentistry. Immediately after completing dental school, Dr. Browning was accepted into the two-year pediatric dental residency at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. This residency is partnered with two Dallas hospitals: Childrens Medical Center and the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. In addition to his training at the dental school and in community dental clinics, he gained valuable experience at these hospitals, which are both recognized nationally for their childrens medical care.He graduated in the summer of 2007, receiving his certificate in pediatric dentistry. Then,he and Dr. Sarahmoved to Fort Collins, Colorado, to work in private practice.
While in private practice, Dr. Michael undertook the board certification process with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He successfully completed the two-part board certification process in March of 2008, at which point he became a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Browning received national recognition from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry as a recipient of the Pugh Award. This is an annual award given to candidateswho scored in the top 3 percent on the written qualifying examination. Additionally, Dr. Browning has been recognized as an active member with fellow status within the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD).
Both doctors, Michael and Sarah, are Kansas natives. Naturally, they were drawn back to Kansas when Dr. Michael decided it was time to open his own office. After moving back to Kansas Dr. Browning worked with the Douglas County Dental Clinics pediatric patients while he waited forthe construction to be completed on Sunflower Smiles.
They have also been blessed with two wonderful children Carina and Miles. Other than spending time with his family, his interests include photography, traveling, archery, hunting, scuba diving, backpacking, and camping.Doctors Michael and Sarah have also enjoyed volunteering their dental skills. They have volunteered at nine of the Kansas Mission of Mercys (KMOM) dental projects. Most recently volunteering with the Sunflower Smiles staff at the KMOM in Kansas City, KS. The couple has also volunteered with five international dental missions: twicein Honduras, oncein Guatemala, and twice in the Dominican Republic.

Noticed a small cavity forming on my daughters molar, called to schedule an appointment and explained what was going on and they got us in the very next day! My daughter has previously had a lot of anxiety around dentists but they did such an amazing job at walking her through everything they were going to do and showing her before they did it that she felt at ease while they cleaned and got x-rays. They did such a great job at explaining everything to me in full detail and printed out the treatment plan as well as costs so I have a clear view of what to expect. Definitely well worth the long drive across town and very thankful for all of the kindness and patience the staff showed. 10/10 would recommend!

I took my 3yo for an emergency issue. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I had terrible experiences elsewhere. However, coming to Sunflower was a breath of fresh air. It was so lovely to be treated with respect and kindness while not compromising professionalism. Wonderful job. Thanks Dr Browning and staff!

Office staff super helpful and efficient! Paige is my fav :)Dr. B came out to the waiting room 3 different times updating me on how my kiddo was doing and where they were at in the process. The cost of the services were transparent all the way thru the process ! Have never had a bad experience here !

My youngest 2 sons of five children has been here they both had a lot of work that needed done my youngest who was five at the time had seven teeth removed multiple cavities filled and more than one crown and spacer put in we were very hesitant about putting him under but knew it all needed done at once they made us feel comfortable with the whole procedure and kept us informed the whole time this was especially important when my seven-year-old went after that because he had had issues in the past with being sedated and not waking up in his oxygen levels dropping we voiced these concerns to the nurses and they went over everything with this again even though we had been in and done close to the same thing with our other son couple of months before that both boys went to sleep easily woke up and were at the local Shopping Centre for their prize within 40 minutes of waking up it is a little bit of a drive for us but it's worth it we felt that the drive was worth our peace of mind they have a lot of experience and went over everything and every detail with us I wish the waiting room had a little more toys or something but with the pandemic going on I understand why they probably does not there is video games in the waiting room you do have to stay on site if your child is sedated will one parent does which I believe is understandable from their point of view in case something would happen it would be nice if they had more of a private area to rest in for those parents who are there 4 or 5 hours naughty bed just not is out in the open Maybe all in all very impressed with this place the nurses and Doctor are super friendly go over everything with you they call and check on your child that evening or the next day explain everything the nurses are great with the littler ones about not letting them know what's coming about keeping them comfortable and feeling safe it was extremely stressful time for me and my husband just because of all the what ifs but the nurse has made us feel so much better I feel my child children were in good hands and you will too now I only wish I could find some place I could be put to sleep and wake up with all my dental work done

Dr. Browning is very kind and helps to ensure my kids have a positive experience at the dentist. He always remembers their names and what procedure they've gone through even after extended times of not seeing them. I trust his judgment and appreciate the way he explains any issues he finds with me! We highly recommend this office for children!

My 6 year daughter has been coming here for a couple of years and we both LOVE it! She actually wishes she could go more often then every 6 months! The staff is wonderful, always polite to everyone, including my overly dramatic mother who about lost it when "her baby" had to have some pretty major dental work. Dr. Browning was and is so patient and explains everything that is going on and when necessary goes over all of our options. He's also very proactive about things we need to watch out for so we can get ahead of any potential issues. They're no longer in-network with my dental carrier but they (A) let everyone know months in advance so we could make proper arrangements if need-be (B) they still bill my insurance so I pay upfront and get some reimbursement from my carrier. For the level of care my daughter receives I feel their fees are well worth it!

Appreciate the staff being so patient and helpful with my child. She started coming here when she was 1 and over time developed a fear of doctors like many kids do. But I appreciate the extra mile the staff and doctors go with their patients to make them feel comfortable.

Will not be coming back here. I have a 1 year old, 4 year old, and 7 year old that I have to take with me to each appointment. Not only did they not give us an actual room to do the dental exam in, the dentist acted like it was absurd that I even ask for a room next time. We also waited while one hygienist did both my youngest and oldest while the one who started with my oldest literally stopped half way through and had to get someone else to do the rest...? No explanation as to why was given. Not only that, but I was asked around 5 times if they could x- rays. I had requested the girls' prior dentist to send records, but of course they didn't, and I let them know I was paying out of pocket for X-rays since I already pay outrageous amounts for insurance itself. They did not offer to call Delta and check, like most would have. Throughly unimpressed is an understatement.
