My name is Yunyan (Tracy) Shen. I am an American Board Certified Orthodontist. I truly enjoy in creating beautiful, confident, and healthy smiles with braces and Invisalign! I completed my doctor of dental surgery degree and advanced post-doctoral specialty training in Orthodontics at Columbia University. I feel very fortunate to be able to work in a profession that is rewarding to my patients, my team members, and me. My favorite aspect of orthodontics isestablishing a personal relationship with talented young individuals, remarkable adults, and fascinating families.Since we are going to spend the next one to three years together, let me share a little about myself so that we can get to know one another.
After graduating with B.A. from City University of New York, I began to pursue my education at Columbia University. I spent seven years studying and then teaching at Columbia University. There I obtained a doctorate of dental surgery (DDS). I also completed a post-doctoral program specializing in orthodontics leading to a master of science degree (MS) and a certificate in orthodontics. Born and raised in China,I speak fluent Chinese (Mandarin) and English.
I enjoy keeping up with current research and staying abreast of new orthodontic techniques and advancements. Through continued learning, I desire to improve daily. It is a thrill to transform patients smiles and to see the positive impact it has on their self-esteem, attitude and dental health.
I am married to a very supportive husband. We have two lovely children Victor and Annie. Our family, including my parents, enjoys traveling and participating in outdoor activities. We love working in our very first garden.

Each member of ourclinical team is a registered assistant (RDA), and our office staff has years of experience in treating patients with the highest level of care. I am a North Carolinian with Pharaonic Egyptian Roots. Following my passion to work in the dental field,I attended Vernon College to complete my coursework to become a registered dental assistant. I joinedDr. Shen'steam in 2017. I enjoy working along side Dr. Shen, and love working with patients of all ages.I truly care about the wants and needs of each patient and always do my best to help wherever needed. My favorite part of Orthodontics is seeing the patients' reaction to their new smiles after treatment. When I am not in the office, Ienjoy spending time with family, traveling and working out at the gym.
Born and raised in Southern California but relocated to Dallas in 2006, I started my dental career as an assistant in 2003 and joined Dr. Shens team in 2015 where I assist Dr. Shen to achieve the best possible smile for her patients. The best part about my job is that every day I get to see the confidence that a wonderful new smile can build. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and taking mini vacations.
Coming from a family of 7 (3 sisters and1 brother), Iwas born and raised in Chicago, Illinois.I attended Richland Colleyiate High School, Collin College, and University of Texas in Dallas. I joined Dr. Shen's team in 2015 where I work at front desk. I truly love to greet and establish close rapport with patients! I love so much about dentistry that I am working towards my RDA license and hygienist program. In my spare time, I love to go out with friends, watch movies, and try different kinds of food! And I dabble in a little bit of singing.
I am from a small town, Farmersville TX. Istarted working in a family businesswhen I was 15 years old. Once I graduated High School in 2018, I wanted to start my dental career right away because I always have a passion in dental field. In the fall, I attended Collin College in McKinney, TX to become a Registered Dental Assistant. I happilyjoined Dr. Shen's team after I gradudated from Collin College. I really enjoy working witha team that is well organized and outgoing.

My son broke some orthodontics during a flag football game on a Saturday morning and was in pain. We were not able to fix it at home and his normal orthodontist is closed on Saturday. Fortunately Dr. Shen was able to get him in on short notice despite not being her patient, and she quickly corrected the issue. I am extremely grateful and appreciative - thank you Dr. Shen!

I took my pre-teen daughter to Dr. Shen for a consultation for some concerns that I had for her teeth. Dr. Shen took a comprehensive X-ray of her teeth and explained everything to me in such a thorough way. I was impressed by Dr. Shen 's knowledge and professionalism. She told me there was nothing to worry about at this time, and suggest us come back next year to monitor the teeth growth. Her front desk staff is super friendly too (which is hard to find nowadays). And to make the trip even better, the first consultation with Dr. Shen is free! I would recommend her to all my friends who need Orthodontic service!

I started my Invisalign in my late 20s and it took about 9months, 30 Invisalign trays to get it done in phase I. It magically reshaped my face, teeth and bite. I can't say how much I appreciate Dr. Shen and her team's professional work. I also highly recommend those who are in their adulthood like me doubting whether it's worth wearing trays as we may not gain the same good effect as kids. You should try this technology and take Dr.Shen's advice and it does work very well.

I'm in my late 40s. I'm super happy to get my brackets off today thanks to Dr. Shen and her amazing staff! Actually, I sometimes don't trust reviews on Yelp or Google about doctors so much; however, I bet you will definitely see what I said about Suncteek Orthopedics. Dr. Shen is a highly competent orthodontist. My crowded teeth have changed dramatically even though I asked her not to have my teeth out. She kindly and honestly told me pros and cons when I didn't have my teeth out, and even explained a possibility of the wrinkles on my face to me when I had my teeth out as well, so I could start without worrying. During the pandemic, there're lots of unsure things, but whenever I asked her some questions by email (because I'm not good at speaking in English), she answered and solved it very responsibly and friendly. Her staff is also very friendly and organized. I really appreciate that I met such a wonderful doctor and amazing staff. Thank you very much for everything....!!

Dr. Shen was first recommended by our pediatric dentist in 2018. I have visited her clinic twice before I made the decision to have Dr. Shen to be my son's Orthodontist. My son started the Invisalign treatment in early 2019 and just removed recently. We are very happy with the result and the pain-free experience for past one whole year for my young boy. The 5 stars rating comes with reasons. Dr. Shen is impressively patient with kids. I am a parent with lots of questions, and usually anything related to dental is not welcomed for my young boy. Dr. Shen has done a great job in explaining every single question my boy was asking and was worried about. I encourage my boy to ask his own questions, which will ease his worry when he gets answer directly from Dr. Shen. I would like to express my biggest gratitude for Dr. Shen's patience to my boy. Also, Dr. Shen always does her very best to accommodate our requests. We did zoom meeting last year when I wasn't comfortable to visit the clinic due to the pandemic. Financial plan is our big concern too when comes to any service related to dental. In Dr. Shen's clinic, you are clear with what you are paying for. Anyway, we are now in retainer stage; my boy and I are very happy with the experience so far. I have recommended Dr. Shen to my neighbor for her little girl. Thank you and take care, all staffs from Dr. Shen's clinic.

I highly recommend Suncreek Orthodontics! Dr. Shen and her team are the best. She listened to every concerns I had, and took care immediately. They always welcomed with big smiles with no waiting time. I got pregnant during the treatment, and I had bad morning sickness. The staff was so nice, and she asked me if I was feeling ok while I got the adjustment. I wish I could have done all of my treatment here, but I had to move to the other state. Dr. Shen sent my medical records to me via email after the last appointment, so I was able to transfer smoothly with my new orthodontist. I can't thank you enough to Dr. Shen and all of them who are working there.
