Dentist cleaned my teeth and got water behind a molar. I was in excruciating pain all weekend. Showed up at 7 like it says on the door and it was locked. Said they don't open till 730 and the doctor doesn't come in till 930 since they only have one today. Really on a Monday when people have been in pain since Friday thinking the cleaning was just a little rough. I have never had a cavity or tooth ache in my life but these guys showed me what it feels like. FYI they suggested I go to urgent care or the emergency room. Wow! Switching family to Dr. Jones see how that goes. BTW my wife has had a cracked tooth for 6 weeks. They scheduled her an appointment 6 weeks ago and she had to wait until or semi annual cleaning to be seen. Now they have referred her to a specialist for a surgery. Really consider this when choo swing a dentist. Edit the dentist extracted wife's tooth after seeing 2 specialists first taking 6 weeks of discomfort. She did not delay and seen referral specialist as soon as they could schedule her. So everybody got paid before extracting the tooth. Plus note they saw her on the same afternoon the last specialist said to extract. As for me still have constant discomfort after cleaning and am nearly done with the antibiotics that my family doctor prescribed. To be 1000% clear I was told the doctor wouldn't be in until 930 and the techs couldn't do anything. X-rays showed where the problem that was created was Later that day. Very thankful to a manager who assisted in all issues. the check out clerk was where my issues began by telling me the doctor wasn't coming in until 930 or maybe couldn't see my EMERGENCY until 930 and to go to the ER. FYI the dentist is exceptional no problems there.

Dr. Wheeler and the staff at Sumter Family Dental were amazing and far exceeded my expectations! After having a poor experience at another dentist, I was nervous to try a new dentist. This place doesnt just treat your family, they become your family.

I went and had five erupted infections teeth. I was EXPECTING DR DURANT. ANOTHER DENIST. Came in in. He said I will be doing the extraction. ANYWAYS HE DID A DECENT JOB BUT NOT LIKE DURANT.I ASKED AT CHECK OUT FOR PAIN MEDICINE AND ANTIBIOTICS. I WAS TOLD THE COMPUTER WAS DOWN.SO I WENT HOME IN GREAT PAIN. I WENT BACK THE NEXT DAY TO ASK FOR PAIN MEDS A ANTIBIOTICS. WAS TOLD DR IS AT LUNCH WHEN HE CAME BACK SHE WOULD ASK AND CALL BACK.MUST BE A LONG LUNCH THAT WAS NOV 12 2021.

The entire staff is friendly and keeps it CLEAN at all times. Great Service! I was a patient as a kid. Moved back to Sumter from Charlotte after 25 years and googled a local dentist to resume care and found out I was standing in the same spot as a kid; just a newer version. Made it even more special! Happy Customer- Romeka L Billie

Dr Bad Breath broke a drill off in my child's jaw right before the holidays and sent her home since he could not remove the broken off drill bit and no other dentist or surgeons wanted to again repair his handiwork, we had a miserable, painful Thanksgiving! Thanks "doctor", would you want your daughter treated like this? Something is seriously wrong with you.

Let me just say the day of my cleaning went really well and the environment was inviting as well. I was a new patient here and this was my very first visit. I went in for my first cleaning for the year. My hygienist brushed down my teeth but only cleaned (Flossed, scaling, etc) the bottom. She said she wanted me to return to have the top done because she didn't want my mouth to be sore. This was odd to me because I've never had to come back to have a cleaning done to finish one visit. Everything was always done in one visit else where. But I listened thinking she's the professional here and I assumed she was offering me what she considered to be best for me. So moving on... I meet with the doctor, checked out, they scheduled "another visit" and I went on my way. Two weeks later, days before my next visit I called to asked what exactly would be done at this particular visit. Knowing with my state insurance I'm offered only two cleanings per year. I was told that this particular visit was a "special visit" that my insurance would not cover and that I would be spending $200 out of pocket for this visit. I mentioned to the person over the phone that my hygienist did not clean my top teeth that day and that I was told she would have me come back to finish because she didn't want my mouth to be sore. I honestly feel like they were trying to get over just to get additional money. Not for the better of the client. I will not be returning and I would hope that this review helps the next person.

This place was amazing. I highly recommend this dentist to everyone. They took great care of us. It was worth the two hour plus drive.
