Dr. James Thompson is a third-generation orthodontist, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, who have served their communities combined for more than 70 years. He is honored to carry on their legacy. His mission is to continue to serve his community and to transform lives by creating beautiful smiles.
Dr. Thompson successfully completed the Orthodontics graduate program from Indiana University School of Dentistry, earning his Master of Science in Dentistry (M.S.D.). He has conducted research in the field of orthodontic bio-mechanical sciences.

I was delighted with the simple process of getting our son going with his braces. Each staff member was friendly. The recommended services seemed to be more reasonable and moderate than other places.

It's OK. The doctor is always nice and helpful. The woman at the front desk seems to have a perpetual attitude problem, and the tech I have had to deal with leaves something to be desired. They could both use some customer service training. They don't communicate with the parent. We started in the middle of Covid, I waited in the car with my toddler during my older sons appointments, as they suggested, but never got any updates. I started going in to wait thinking I would be updated, but no. I had to mention more than a few times that I was not being informed about what was going on, and that got me attitude and argument. I was told there was never anyone here with my son, but I was always available, either in the waiting room or right outside the entrance in the parking lot. I always saw techs or the doctor go to the parent waiting in the cars to give updates. I was never unavailable to them. They also gave him whichever retainer they wanted instead of asking what we wanted.

Dr. Thompson and his staff are amazing. They try really hard to accommodate your schedule. Their payment plans have always been doable. I'm on my 3rd kid with them. I also saw him when I was a teenager for my orthodontic needs.

In my opinion, I think their work is amazing! Every time I walk in, they are always very friendly. They let me know what is going to happen, and Dr. Jim does his work very well. I appreciate all the other technicians as well!! They ask me about my day and like to get to know me. Thank you everyone for making braces easier for me!

My daughters have both had wonderful experiences with Summit Orthodontics, we couldn't have made a better choice when deciding who to count on for fixing our daughter's smiles. They look more beautiful than ever and their confidence has improved tremendously. The staff here is friendly and knowledgeable and thoroughly explain the processes every step of the way.

I came from a separate dentist office that had damaged my teeth and caused me to need braces longer and eventually have surgery. Switching to Summit showed me what an orthodontist office is supposed to look like. Everyone is very kind, on time, and most importantly they are good at their jobs.

I absolutely LOVED Summit Orthodonticts. I was always met with so much kindness from the techs and staff. Dr. Thompson provides exceptional care and gives each patient his direct attention at each visit. Each appointment is typically less than fifteen minutes, but I value the relationships I established in that short time. I would recommend Summit to anyone! They were flexible with appointment times and let me schedule in advance due to my limited availability from being a college student living in Muncie. Yes, I traveled all the way to Fort Wayne every three weeks JUST to see Dr. Thompson. A beautiful smile is only one of the many valuable things I gained from Summit Orthodontics.
