Dr. Matthew Johnson is noticeably passionate about serving patients and ensuring their comfort. Through attending significant continuing education events, Dr. Johnson provides his patients with the most up-to-date technology and techniques that produce amazing results.
Dr. Johnson graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1988, where he was also a NCAA Division I, 4 year letterman in soccer. He received his DDS from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio in 1993 and went on to complete his residency at Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC. Dr. Johnson then served as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Public Health Service for the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation in Lame Deer, MT from 1994-1997.
A Sulphur Springs resident since 1999, Dr. Johnson remains an active member of the community. He is married to Karla and they have two children, Kye and Alaina. Dr. Johnsons hobbies include backpacking, running, biking, history and spending time with family.
Dr. Jaynes commitment to excellence has been evident throughout her studies and dental health career. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Mississippi in 1988, she obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Tennessee Medical Center graduating in the top ten percent in 1992. She earned the oral medicine award as well from Tennessee. In 1995, she graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry Periodontics simultaneously earning her periodontics graduate certification and Master of Science Degree. She is a Board Certified Periodontist and Diplomate of American Academy of Periodontology. Since then she has completed an average of 30 hours per year in continuing education studies with a heavy emphasis on implantology and cosmetics. Dr. Jaynes is an associate professor in the hygiene department at Collin College. She is very active in the Dallas County Dental Society where she was awarded the young dentist award early in her career.

Dr. Don Huffstetler was born and raised in Sulphur Springs. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1978 and received his DDS from the university of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1983. He is a member of the ADA, Texas Dental Association and the First District Dental Society.
He owned and operated a solo dental practice in Mt. Vernon for 34 years, providing dental treatment to all ages and involving all types of dental services. Dr. Huffstetler began his association with Summit Dental in May, 2019 allowing him to continue to use his skill and experience to provide dental care on a part time basis.
Dr. Huffstetler has resided in Mt. Vernon with his wife, Kim since 1983. They have three married children: Andi Pickering(Chad), Haley Puryear (Austin) and John(Cynthia) and Five grandchildren. His interests include singing with various groups at First Baptist Church, Hunting, and high school and collegiate sports. He enjoys spending time with his family, raising cross breed cattle and piloting his Cessna 182 on the days he is not treating patients at Summit Dental in Sulphur Springs TX.

We moved from Sulphur Springs to Rockwall 4 years ago and I still drive back to SS to Summit Dental. Matt Johnson and his staff are the best.

Very good experience today at Summit Dental. Front office was friendly and helpful. Waited maybe five minutes before being taken back. Ali was so nice and explained everything she was doing, very good cleaning and offered good advice. Dr. Matt spent a good amount of time talking with me and he and Ali seemed very interested in getting to know me, which made me feel very welcome. Even checking out was a nice experience. Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome.

Staff is friendly and accommodating. Routine cleanings are fast and efficient. Dr Johnson is professional and any work done by him has been exemplary. Truly a compassionate dental practice.

People=5. Quality of care=5. Quality of work=5. Whatever it is that you need done, go here! They're incredibly sweet and kind, very accomodating, thorough, and exceptionally competent. I had orapharyngeal cancer. Dr. Johnson removed all of my teeth to prevent future complications due to aggressive radiation treatment. Gina and Steph assisted, even holding my hand; Bless them! The 2 day process was not unduly painful. Recovery was fast with no issues. They actually called to check on me as I healed from that, and even during my months of treatment! I've always been informed of what to expect and given options/choices. I don't dread the office visits; I actually look forward to seeing these wonderful people! That's saying a lot, because I don't much like many people...ha! HIGHLY recommend!!

Loved the doctors and staff! Very professional, sweet and understanding! Without being disrespectful to my old dentist, they fixed some of his mistakes. They do everything right in their office, without sending me to another appointment. They are resonabily priced as well. I highly recommend Summit if you are looking for a change!

Everyone here is most friendly. The are considerate of my time getting me in when I am scheduled. The ambiance of the office is soothing and comfortable, fireplace nice this time of year. They treat me like a person not a customer by their friendly conversations.

Absolutely hands down the best dental care I've ever received The staff and doctors are professional and friendly. And all seemed to be dedicated to the painless resolution of my dental dilemma of the moment. As well as a professional and persistent focus on setting the priorities of a plan to get me from a mouthfull of toothache all the way to a healthy mouth and a great smile. This was my first visit to Summit Dental and I found it to be efficient, pleasant, and painless. The staff is outstanding. Sherry, the Office Manager, patiently answered my questions. Due to the holidays, they were very busy, but the same day I called, a patient cancelled and I was on my way to their office. The lady who performed my initial exam was very professional throughout the oral exam and x-rays. The Doctor was personable, and not rushed as he examined me. We discussed a treatment plan, and he recommended that a broken crown be replaced, but not a perfectly good one above it. I believe I made the right decision to go to Summit Dental.

This was my first trip to Summit Dental. The office was comfortable, the staff was cordial, and the overall experience was good. Dr. Huffstetler has been my dentist for many years in Mt Vernon, and his work on filling my tooth was relatively pain free and quick.
