Dr. Peter W. Karian is originally from Sudbury, Massachusetts. He earned a Bachelor's of Arts in Biology from Carleton College. Dr. Karian graduated from the University of Maryland, and then he pursued further training through a General Practice Residency at Christiana Care Health System. As a resident, he received extensive training in all aspects of general dentistry with a focus on complex medical and dental patients as well as implant restorations.
Dr. Karian believes in treating you as a person and not just your teeth. Whether that means a full cosmetic makeover, transitioning to a new set of teeth or dentures or keeping your smile healthy with routine care, you can be sure Dr. Karian will work hard to find the best treatment for YOU.
When Dr. Karian is not taking care of patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Kaitlin and their tuxedo cat, Heinz. You might also find him playing ultimate frisbee, cooking, hiking, mountain biking and traveling.
JoAnn is highly skilled and brings with her more than 40 years of experience in the dental field. She has worked as a dental assistant, receptionist, and office manager. Her expertise and knowledge are invaluable to patients. She can handle any question or concern you may have about our office. JoAnn moved to Delaware from New Jersey with her husband. Her interests include riding motorcycles, crafts, and spending time with her family.
Shelli is a dental hygienist and has been with our practice since 1998! She received her training from Delaware Technical Community College. Shelli loves her patients, and being a dental hygienist has allowed her to promote oral health. She likes to help ease dental anxiety for many of our patients and loves meeting so many great people in her community.
Liz was born and raised in Delaware. She has been a dental assistant for over 30 years and loves it! Liz enjoys working with patients of all ages with a warm and friendly smile. She spends her spare time with her family at the beach and working in her garden with her dog, Luna.
Dawn has over 34 years of experience as a dental hygienist. You will notice her calm demeanor and exceptional ability to put fearful patients at ease in the dental chair. She is an expert on oral health and the impact it can have on overall health. In Dawn's free time she enjoys going to the beach, bike riding, and spending time with her family.
Lizzy grew up in Delaware and has been a dental assistant for 6 years. Her favorite part of her job is making sure patients are comfortable during their treatment. She loves spending time with her 3 daughters and 2 German Shepards Kirra and Ruger. She enjoys listening to music, going to the beach, and cooking.

Having been traumatized by dentists I have seen in the past, I avoided today's appointment for two months because I thought it was going to be another long torture session. This was far different than my precious dental encounters. I was told at the end of summer that I needed a filling next to the gum line on a tooth, today I went in expecting the worst was about to happen. As I was waiting for the injection to begin to numb my mouth, I realized that my lip was starting to feel anesthetized. Dr. Karian had already finished that part while I was still waiting to feel the stab of the needle. There was no stab, no burn, just numb; I thought he was still just taking a look. I had a pain free filling today and I could not be happier. I was done from front door and back to my car in 30 minutes. If you're looking for an amazing experience and have been avoiding dentists because of terrible past experiences, look no further. This is your new home.

As someone who DREADS going to the dentist I can easily say Dr Karian and his staff have made me feel comfortable and cared for every visit. From your greeting and fun banter with JoAnn on arrival to all the hygienists and doc himself, the entire visit each time is light and even entertaining. Thank you for helping this dramatic, dentist hating woman get over herself and get her pearly whites shining again! :)

I had a bad toothache. They fit me in the same day. The staff was very pleasant to me a new patient which is not so common these days. It was very clean. Dr. Karian made sure I was very comfortable and I didn't even know my teeth was out. Mind you he had to pull one and cut the other. I had discomfort a few days later and he got me right in. The issue was assessed and handled. Highly recommend this dentist.

I was experiencing pain with a tooth ache and had call multiple dentist in my area, all had no vacancies. Summit Dental was able to get me in the same day. The office staff was wonderful and Dr. Karian's manner and skills were excellent. Dr. Karian even called later in the evening to check on how I was doing. I highly recommend Summit Dental for any dental services you may require.

love the staff, they make you feel comfortable, welcome and thier number one priority is you. I was deathly afraid of going to the dentist, but not anymore. Dr. Peter Karian and the staff at Summit Dental always make me feel safe and they take care of me. In the past 3 years, I've had cleanings, emergency fillings, repairs to my front teeth (they literally gave me my smile back) and emergency extractions at Summit Dental. all good experiences. They have the latest technology in thier office and it amazes me.

Dr. Peter Karian is an excellent dentist. His team at Summit Dental are a tribute to his excellence. After moving to Middletown DE from Manhattan, my husband and I were looking for a dentist in the area. We could not be happier with our choice of Summit Dental. Dr. Karian is smart, articulate, proficient, and caring. He takes the time to explain everything to his patients with up-to-date technological imaging. His office staff are friendly and efficient. Joanne at the front desk is wonderful as are Cindy his dental assistant and Dawn the dental hygienist. I recommend Dr. Peter Karian and Summit Dental very highly.

My first filling was a success. I would give Dr. Karian 10 stars but the system only allows 5. I am always nervous when it comes to dental work but feel pretty secure with him. As always, the staff is super great

Never had such a great experience at a dental office. From scheduling my initial appointment until I walked out of the door, I felt like I was cared for. Jo Ann was extremely helpful and kind in the front, and Dr. Karian was extremely knowledgeable and professional. The girl who took my X-rays was also incredibly sweet and proficient. All around exceptional experience for great, affordable care.

He said I can fix it. $$$ fell out 7 weeks later. Went to another dentist, first I had to pick more money off the tree in the back yard. Had it fixed properly still in my mouth

Was THE best dental experience I have ever had. It was my first time visiting and I work right there in the same plaza! So very happy I called to have my work done here. Needed a tooth pulled which is never fun but Dr. Karian made it a very smooth procedure. And now he has a new customer! Excellent customer service as well from the moment I walked in. Great support staff. Thanks for getting me in so quickly. Highly recommend!

Dr. Karian was able to get me in ASAP. He was so compassionate and caring about my concerns. After my visit, later in the evening, he called to check on me to make sure I wasn't experiencing any more pain. My visit was 100% pain free. I love this dentist office

I had a dental emergency that was causing me a lot of pain. I called summit dental and they were awesome about squeezing me in the next day! Staff was so nice, office was very clean, and the dentist was great! He explained all of my options and talked me through the whole process. I will definitely be returning for future dental work!
