February has been designated Gum Disease Awareness Month! Initially launched by the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry, its purpose is to raise awareness about gum disease and encourage healthy dental habits to prevent it.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), gum disease, also referred to as periodontitis, is the result of infections and inflammation of the gums and bone that surround and support the teeth. In the early stages, the gums can become swollen and red, and they may bleed. As it progresses, the gums can pull away from the tooth, which can eventually result in bone and tooth loss. Not only does gum disease affect your mouth, it can affect your body as well. Regular check-ups and good oral hygiene are important to ensure everything is healthy.

Periodontal disease is mostly seen in adults, with 47.2% of those aged 30 years and older having some form of it. This risk only increases with age. On top of age, there are many other risk factors that can increase your chance of developing gum disease. One of the primary risk factors is smoking, followed by poor oral hygiene, diabetes, stress, hormonal changes and medications that cause dry mouth.

While gum disease starts in the mouth, when left untreated, it can start affecting many other parts of the body as well. This includes respiratory disease, rheumatoid arthritis, coronary artery disease and diabetes.

Set an appointment and they will follow up 6+ times to confirm. I find that rather annoying. They also canceled my last appointment the day before for no reason

Made my appointment months in advance went in today finally to have a tooth pulled and the lady tells me she gave me appointment to someone else and ask why I was there. To top it off they had me down as a cleaning so she tells me they wouldn't have been able to pull my tooth either way. If I could give 0 stars I would

I appreciated the team reaching out to me when they had an earlier opening for me. Everyone was pleasant and listened to me, when I described my issues. I left feeling happy and excited about my dental plans for the future. Dr. Greg Davis is so caring, honest and offers realistic solutions. He plays great music in his office.

A great first experience and I look forward to working with them soon. I was in and out in just about an hour with a plan of what happens next. Very impressed

They do not answer the phone. I get a third party answering service and I am not able to leave a voice mail for them to call back. I called multiple times and even the 3rd party after originally stating she would leave a message asked me if I wanted her to leave a message. I said you should have already. She said you never talked to me. I said yes you did. She said oh yes you did. Did not apologize. Then I get a phone call after hours about my problem. I had Dr. Ward. She previously three weeks ago filled 2 fillings on my left side. I finally had enough. I got in and said it hurts, they looked around and said all is good, we'll see you in December with your regular appointment. I don't think pain should last for 3 weeks after a procedure. But they were ready to get me out. Think the dentist was right out of college, yet doesn't care that I know how my teeth should feel. Never going back. Already found another one that will at least try and care for my well being. Very inconsiderate staff. Also when I called back to request my records release a guy answered and said he would email it to me and I could sign and send it back. I waited over two hours and nothing. I called again and got someone else. Told them I still hadn't received the form I needed to release records. She said she doesn't know why he didn't do it, but I guess she at least sent the form in a couple seconds. However now we shall see if they actually process it as I have asked them too.

It is very unprofessional and poor representation of patient satisfaction that you have the audacity to respond on a negative review with a generic copy paste " Thank you for telling us about your experience we strive to create a positive patient experience and sincerely regret that yours was not as you had hoped... blah blah BS." If a patient comes in with severe mouth pain and you just previously have seen said patient, you should be doing everything in your power to fix or find out what happened. You do not fill cavities and have severe pain 3 weeks later without there being an issue that needs immediate attention. Your patients should not have to scramble to find another dentist that will help ease their pain. You could have legal problems real quick if your practice disregards patient pain and do nothing about it.

Every time I have gone into summit they have made me feel confident and not ashamed with the shape of my teeth. They explained in depth the plans to get my teeth back to where they should be and always had a non judgmental attitude. Highly recommend

After making a appointment after my last one, I get there and they let me know I'm a week early. Hopefully insurance will pay, as appointment times are hard to get. I had bought teeth whitening for life and they would not give it to be as said back in 2019 I was not seen every 6 months, have gotten it since then. If you need to reschedule they say they are very short staffed so will be 6 months out.

Their horrible at this location. Don't care about nothing but running your insurance bill. I had a serious problem and they didn't care. Took them 5 mins and I was out the door! Won't go back.

The people at Summit on Center Street are so kind and helpful. Dr. Davis has been my dentist for over 10 years. I won't see any other dentist until he retires and gives me a recommendation. Love this place.

Rude, Tonya was a rude dental assistant. I will never go there again. My bp was to high to remove a tooth, which is fine, but the way she delivered her information was scary and unprofessional. I dont recommend getting her as a dental assistant. Awful! She was short and abrupt. You dont say that to someone already struggling with tooth pain. What is wrong with people?
