Dr. Julie SpanielDr. Julie Spaniel graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1991. After her residency at the Portland VA Medical Center and group private practice in Portland, she moved with her family to Burlington, Vermont. A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Julie has returned to the Portland area. Dr. Spaniel owned and operated a large General Dental practice in the Burlington area in Vermont for almost 25 years. She has 4 adult children, and loves spending time with her horses. Dr. Julie Spaniel has opened Summerwood Family Dental of Bridgeport Village under the same philosophy as her former practice: Establishing trust, one patient at a time. People have options and their own priorities in healthcare. Each person has individual needs and expectations about their dental care. Highly recommend Dr. Spaniel and Summerwood Dental! I was a patient at the former dental practice of several members of the staff and followed them here to Dr. Spaniel - and I'm so happy I did! I feel completely safe going into the office due to the state of the art safety and cleanliness equipment and procedures in place. Dr. Spaniel and team are excellent at their work - wouldn't hesitate to recommend the practice for general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and Invisalign.
Impressive, to say the least. Not only did Summerwood Family Dental accommodate my schedule while traveling full-time in an RV, but each and every person impressed me with their competence and friendly disposition. I'd characterize them as big city dentistry with a small town spirit.

Sarah, Karen, Alyssa, and of course Dr Spaniel are super knowledgeable and experienced - not only that, they're lovely people too. It is so wonderful to find a dentist's office that is taking Covid precautions seriously. The clean room HEPA filtration is state of the art and much appreciated. I felt totally safe bringing my child for dental care there, and it was overall a great experience. Dr. Spaniel very clearly and compassionately explained all of the procedures and options, making everyone feel comfortable. I will be switching to this office as well as my other family members, and recommending it to all of my friends.

Amazing!!! Dr. Julie Spaniel and her entire team are incredible! I have experienced high quality care and compassion during every visit. The staff was great. Very friendly and kind. I felt very comfortable and relaxed during my visit. Dr. Spaniel took the time to explain procedures that needed to be done in away that was easy to understand. I would highly recommend Summerwood Family Dental.

Just finished my cleaning and check up, the staff with Dr. Spaniel really went out of there way to make me feel comfortable during my appointment. They took the time to explain and educate me on the new technology of the office and the new equipment being used for my treatment. Thank you again for the extra effort during my visit. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Spaniel and her staff at Summerwood Family Dental. Visiting her office has been the best medical/dental care I have ever received. I get my twice a year cleanings, did invisalign, and got an implant all at her office. The cleaning process is so much less anxiety inducing than other offices. This is because they have a fancy "power washer" for your teeth. It breaks apart all the built up gunk and uses water and erythrothol and blasts it away. Totally painless and left my teeth with that squeaky-clean dentist feeling. When it comes to invisalign, wow! With the high-tech scans there were no pans of goo in my mouth. The only time I had the pans was to have an implant made. Now for the implant. The time it took to get the actual tooth made was only a few weeks, and this was during covid. The installation was painless and they took their time making sure I was comfortable. I know going to the dentist can be scary, especially during covid. But her office has an amazing covid protocol and some stuff you can imagine out of Men in Black to keep you safe. Please do not forgo dental care simply out of fear. Rather that fear be because of covid or general anxiety about going to the dentist, Dr. Spaniel will make you feel comfortable and safe.
