She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The College of Charleston, and then obtained a degree of dentistry at MUSC College of Dental Medicine in 2002. After practicing general dentistry for three years, she received her Pediatric Dental Specialty license from The Childrens Hospital in Denver, Colorado in 2007. She is trained in conscious sedation, pediatric oral and maxillofacial trauma, general anesthesia and patients with special medical conditions. She is a member of the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Cleft-Palate Craniofacial Association, Charleston Dental Society and the Greater Summerville Dorchester Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Baker was the past Dental Director at the Coastal Center, Department of Disabilities and Special Needs and continues to provide dental care to special needs individuals. She serves on faculty at the MUSC College of Dental Medicine and supervised dental student rotation through the facility. She feels strongly in promoting training awareness for student dentists in both pediatric dentistry and individuals with special health care needs.
Dr. Baker lives in Summerville with her son Josh and daughter Emma, who are the light of her life. She enjoys playing at the beach, hiking, and spending time with friends and family. She feels very thankful that God has blessed her with the ability to practice in the Lowcountry, and seeks to glorify Him through the care she provides all of her patient families.

My name is W. Asher Wright, and I am a General Dentist who just retired from the USAF (20yrs). I am extremely excited to join the team of Summerville Pediatric Dentistry. I am thrilled to have an opportunity to see kids of all ages while maintaining an enthusiastic approach to adults with same-day crowns, bridges, and esthetics associated with the restoration of adult dentition. I will be seeing moms, dads, and their children along with Dr. Dorothy Baker here in Summerville and on a limited basis in Walterboro.
I have been married for 22yrs and we have five daughters. My mother and father are originally from Summerville/North Charleston area. I recently moved back in Aug 2021 during my retirement from the Air Force. I enjoy doing what my wife tells me, playing video games in my free time, and I am a pseudo artist. I like to draw many various subjects with a pencil and pen. While overseas in the Air Force, I learned to speak and write rudimentary level Japanese. I can order off a menu and get around town if needed.

We have been coming here for a while now and my daughter loves it. Today she had her tooth pulled and there was no tears. I was so nervous! They made me and my daughter feel so comfortable and it was over before Ihad time to really think about it.

My 5yo has gone to them since she was a year old, and my now 2.5 year old is on his 3rd visit with them. They both LOVE it there! Despite my youngest being a bit scared when having his teeth cleaned, they were so patient and allowed my daughter to finish first so he could watch her. Then, they let her be by his side and that reassured him enough to allow them to continue the cleaning. Efficient, and I even as an adult like to go their for cleanings myself (after having a hard time with dentists as a kid).

We have exclusively used Dr. Baker for our kids' dentistry needs and couldn't be more pleased with the relationships we have formed over the years. She and her staff are timely, professional, kind, compassionate, and really understand how to communicate with both the kids and parents. The office is amazing for kids and sets them at ease as soon as they walk in the door. They offer a range of services for kids of all ages and now appear to offer some adult care while the kids are getting their teeth cleaned. This is by far the best dentistry practice we've ever had. Starting on the environment, the place is friendly, fun and awesomely decorated. Any child that comes in feels welcomed and entertain, which my ease any nervousness. The staff is amazing. We have never receive anything but smiles and friendly faces. My daughters are seen by doctor Baker and me and my mom are seen by doctor Wright, and they are both wonderful, caring and committed doctors.

The most friendly staff you will find! They were able to work my kids in after I accidentally arrived at the wrong time, which was above and beyond of them to do. They were very understanding and gentle with my 3 & 6 yr old. My kids actually get excited to go to the dentist!

My 8 year old chipped his tooth and he was in a lot of pain. I usually take him to Coastel Kids but was able to get him in here same day so I jumped at the opportunity. Some of the staff was really nice. However the doctor was impatient and threatened to make us (the parents) leave of my son didn't calm down. Many negative comments were made to my son (you're scaring other children, we'll refer you to a hospital that will give you shots, we'll make your parents leave the room). There was a lot of eye rolling and my sons panic and I was told that I was not allowed to hold his hand and comfort him. The staff argued with him while he was in a very uncomfortable and scary situation. I was going to let it go but he begged me to leave a review explaining that they lied to him when they said it wouldn't hurt. I would have to agree with him because in 8 year of countless accidents and painful situations; I have never heard him scream the way he did when they pulled his tooth. It was traumatic.
