After completing his undergraduate studies at Drury University, Dr. Daniel Gilstrap earned his DDS degree from the UMKC School of Dentistry, graduating Summa Cum Laude in the top 5% of his class. His excellence as a student of dentistry landed him on the Deans List all four years while he was in dental school.
Dr. Gilstrap was born and raised in Kansas City, and he grew up immersed in sports and his church community. He is passionate about his call to service and has a deep personal belief in giving back. In 2010, Dr. Gilstrap made a mission trip to Africa, where he provided dentistry to those in need. Starting in 2012, he established a dental program through a charity clinic in Raytown, MO to meet the dental needs of the needy. On Fridays, Dr Gilstrap works to meet the needs of yet another under-served population by delivering mobile dental care to patients in Assisted Living and Memory Care facilities.
As a dentist, Dr. Gilstrap loves the process of restoration removing the bad and replacing it with the good. He treats every case, even the smallest filling, as a little work of art. He appreciates the fact that his work allows people to smile again with confidence, and hes excited every time a patient who was once fearful or anxious has a positive experience and changes their expectations about what dentistry can be.
Dr. Gilstrap is the oldest of four. He and his wife Sarah have three young sons and a dog named Rooney. Dr. Gilstrap enjoys gourmet cooking, snow skiing, rooting for Kansas City sports teams, and traveling to see friends and family.

Clean office, everyone was so friendly. They make you feel comfortable, which is a big deal being at the dentist! Would recommend.

Absolutely terrible dental appointment. The hygenist typed profusely before repeatedly sticking her fingers in my mouth. I'm not a rocket-scientist but that doesn't sound "hygenic." I only went in for a regular cleaning and they continually pressed for X-rays (for the insurance money) even though I don't need them. If you've ever been treated like a walking paycheck, you know what I mean. I would not recommend this place if it was the only one in town.

Just had a checkup the other day and felt I needed to say what a great job Dr. Gilstrap and his staff did. Very easy to schedule appointments and get multiple reminders (which I desperately need to remember). Front desk and hygienist were both very professional and courteous, Dr. Gilstrap is always friendly and does a great job as does the office. Highly recommend in my opinion.

Great experience. The doctor and staff were very kind and knowledgeable and the office was clean and comfortable. They were prompt to get me in but did a thorough job on my cleaning and exam. Painless. Highly recommend and will most definitely go back.

My first appointment had gone well. I liked the dentist and hygienist. They were very friendly and do their job well. Unfortunately their scheduling is terrible to detail. For my second appointment I had to reschedule due to mandatory overtime at my work. I rescheduled for a later time in case that happened again for the next one and whoever schedule didn't put the time I had ask therefore I wasn't able to get in. Then I scheduled for an appointment today 2/3 weeks ago and when I got there they didn't have me down for an appointment. Later I found out they had put my sister down instead of me so therefore again I didn't get in for my appointment. I had even used PTO for work which was apparently pointless and a waste. I will not go there again.

I haven't seen a doctor in many years, and when a toothache hit me, I had to find one. After some research I went to see Dr. Gilstrap and was so happy with my decision! The crew is fantastic: very professional, and very friendly! I had to show up several times for cleaning and fillings, and they made the experience painless and easy...I don't know why I was so terrified of going to the dentist all these years!

I recently switched to Dr. Gilstrap as my dentist. At my first appointment, Dr. Gilstrap performed an in-depth assessment and discovered I was in need of a couple small fillings. He used a camera to document what he was seeing and explained his approach to resolve the problem. Stephanie, the office manager, was extremely flexible in making my follow-up appointment accommodate my work schedule. During my follow-up appointment, Dr. Gilstrap and his staff worked with precision, efficiency, and great care to ensure I was comfortable at all times. If you're looking for a new dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Gilstrap!
