Summer Enlow, DDS PC - General dentist in Nacogdoches, TX

Dr. Summer Enlow studied chemistry at Texas A&M in Commerce for her undergraduate degree before attending Baylor College of Dentistry, where she graduated with her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2007. She attends several continuing education courses each year to stay up-to-date on the latest advances in dentistry. She has received advanced training in conscious sedation and implantology. Prior to beginning her practice here, Dr. Enlow served in the U.S. Navy. She was stationed at Parris Island in South Carolina, Camp Foster in Okinawa, Japan, and Naval Base Kitsap in Bremerton, Washington. Dr. Enlow has practiced in the Nacogdoches, Texas, area since July 2013.

The team at Summer Enlow, DDS PC believe in the importance of preventative care. We focus on keeping patients in good oral health so that they can live a full, healthy, and enjoyable life that is free from oral pain. This starts by educating our patients on what they can do to stay healthy at home. In our family dentist office we recommend that patients eat a healthy diet that consists of green leafy vegetables, lean protein, nuts, dairy products, and crunchy fruits and veggies. Eating these foods along with drinking water can help to keep teeth healthy and make them stronger. By simultaneously reducing sugar intake, patients can also reduce their risk of cavities.

It is also important to brush and floss throughout the day. Instead of waiting for bedtime to brush teeth, carry a small toothbrush and use it after meals and snacks. This makes it possible to remove sugar and bacteria from the teeth and gums before it has the opportunity to turn into acid that can attack the teeth. This preventative step can greatly reduce a persons' risk of getting a cavity or gum disease. We understand the importance of taking these steps at home and will spend the time necessary to educate and inform patients so that they can stay healthy overall. Education, after all, is essential for living a long and healthy life.

Understanding the importance of these regular dental exams, the staff at Summer Enlow, DDS PC work to make each patient extremely comfortable. This includes being welcoming and kind while performing dental treatments in a way that is painless and relaxing. Patients visit our dentist office because they trust us to do just that take care of their teeth and gums, gently. The majority of our patients are local and come from the greater Nacogdoches area, we also see patients that are looking for gentle dental care.

Seniors, on the other hand, often struggle with gum disease and oral infections. As people age, their teeth can become weaker and infected more easily. Bone loss is incredibly common with seniors and by conducting regular dental exams, the team at Summer Enlow, DDS PC can help seniors to have strong teeth and reduce the risk of them falling out. Since over seventy percent of U.S. adults suffer from tooth loss, preventative care is important.

A. Primary, or 'baby,' teeth are important for many reasons. Not only do they help children speak clearly and chew naturally, they also aid in forming a path that permanent teeth can follow when they are ready to come in.

A. First, rinse the irritated area with warm salt water and place a cold compress on the face if it is swollen. Give the child acetaminophen for any pain, rather than placing aspirin on the teeth or gums. Finally, see a dentist as soon as possible.

A. Sealants work by filling in the crevasses on the chewing surfaces of the teeth. This shuts out food particles that could get caught in the teeth, causing cavities. The application is fast and comfortable and can effectively protect teeth for many years.

A. Have your family dentist evaluate the fluoride level of your child's primary source of drinking water. If your child is not getting enough fluoride internally through water (especially if the fluoride level is deficient or if your child drinks bottled water without fluoride), then we may prescribe fluoride supplements.

A. Soft plastic mouthguards can be used to protect teeth, lips, cheeks and gums from sport related injuries. A custom-fitted mouthguard will protect your teeth from injuries and even provide protection from severe injuries to the head.

A. There is very little risk in dental X-rays. Family dentists are especially careful to limit the amount of radiation to which you and your family are exposed. Lead aprons and high-speed film are used to ensure safety and minimize the amount of radiation. Digital x-rays provide an even greater level of protection by using up to 90 percent less radiation.

Dentist did an incomplete extraction for dental work intently sabotage referral to oral surgeon for completion of extraction of full mouth for denture prep has Place intentional hurt and humiliation and an attempt to prove her position of power after I stated uncomfortability during extraction and has been responding in the manner of retaliation by involving law enforcement falsely reporting criminal activity

Summer and the entire staff here are the best. Dental work is never fun but when the people with their hands in your mouth genuinely care about your comfort instead of being condescending, grumpy, or judgmental it makes a world of difference. I've never felt more at ease in any type of medical setting, and especially not in a dentist's office. They have made me actually *want* to address the problems I have with my teeth instead of ignoring them and pretending they'd go away like I've always done. I can't recommend this practice enough!

I've been going to Dr. Enlow for many years and have been very satisfied with her practice. Would highly recommend. Also, if you are having any especially complicated work done - ask for the gas - it's worth it!

I love this dental practice, not only Dr. Enlow, but also the hygienists. I never thought a dental visit could be fun, but after 3-4 years of seeing these ladies 4 times a year, it's more like going to visit friends than visiting the dentist. I highly recommend them!

I really enjoyed my experience. I had to have x-rays done and for the first time ever, I felt no pain. The hygienist was very thorough yet gentle. Both Dr. Enlow and the hygienist wanted to make sure I was not in any pain. I would recommend her to anyone seeking a dentist who focuses on the patient at all times.Pain Free!

This place is laid back and Dr.Enlow and her staff top notch. If you like a dentist that cares about you and does not overcharge I would recommended her to anyone. Yes there is only 1 person working the office so you have to be patience. She is really nice and this is keeping your cost down. I would take this place any day over some fancy place full of rude people. How can you go wrong when the dentist owns horses...lol After 5 years of living in the area I finally found a dentist that I pray here a long time because she truly amazing.

Dr Summer Enlow is an excellent dentist. I have been going to years after she had taken over the practice from Dr. Alexander. The staff is courteous and friendly. They greet you upon entrance and while leaving. She and her staff are al about the care and well being of each patient. You can feel the compassion she has and from her staff as well. I will continue to keep her as my dentist. Thank you. Wardell S Miller, Jr

I am terrified of dental visits. Even just getting my teeth cleaned makes me anxious. I had put off getting my teeth cleaned for over 5 years because I was so afraid. Being so overdue for a visit, I decided it was time to just go and I'm so, so glad I came to Dr Enlow's office. No dentist office I've ever been to has been so kind, fun, and accommodating. For the first time EVER my teeth cleaning was easy and painless. I'm not kidding. Their hygienists are fantastic, to say the least, as is Dr Enlow. She did exams for my 1 and 3 year olds and it went so well. If you're looking for a dentist, this is the place to go.
