Dr. Sultan utilizes cutting edge technology, including Cone Beam CT & 3D Imaging and Computer Guided Surgery. The Center is a state-of-the-art, office-based, outpatient surgical facility, assuring the highest level of safety and quality of care.

In May 2014 Dr. Sultan delivered the Commencement Keynote Speech at the University at Albany. A true honor and distinction to be chosen among his peers, Dr. Sultan was invited to return to his alma mater and share his thoughts on how his undergraduate experience helped guide him towards his chosen profession.

Dr. Sultan was honored in a feature biographical article in the University at Albany Magazine.Picture a profession where you 're 'upside down and backward, working through a mirror and conceptualizing how things go together, from the beginning to the end,' and you 'll have a vague idea of the intricacies ofDr. Leslie Sultan 'sspecialty: diagnosing and treating defects of the face, jaws and mouth. 'Many of my patients present with problems that are congenital or traumatic in origin,' explains the founder of the Sultan Center for Oral Facial Surgery in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. 'The scope of my practice includes everything from the removal of impacted teeth to facial reconstruction' that addresses 'both form and function, improving aesthetics and ensuring my patients ' ability to breathe, speak and chew properly.'

Sultan 's subspecialties include surgery to correct obstructive sleep apnea, the design and placement of custom computer-designed dental and facial implants, and temporomandibular joint replacement. Much of his work 'is based on computer design' and recalls Sultan 's years at the University at Albany, where he took one of the first computer science courses offered. 'A lot of what I do now is also based on my training in organic chemistry. Even the development of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), integral to my diagnoses, is based on research using early Nuclear Magnetic Resonance technology developed in the chemistry department when I was an undergrad,' the Brooklyn, N.Y., native notes. 'At the time I graduated, I was gung ho on research and planned to obtain a Ph.D.,' remembers Dr. Sultan, a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in private practice since 1989.

'I worked for one of my professors, Dr. Henry G. Kuivila, an organic chemist. I was interested in being an industrial research chemist, so I took the graduate school entrance exam and got accepted to seven organic chemistry Ph.D. programs across the country.' After a year at Penn State, 'I realized that research was not the right path for me. I was more of a people person.' Dr. Sultan 's people skills led him to dentistry, and eventually to a career in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

He graduated in the top 5 percent of his class at the University of Maryland Dental School, and completed an internship at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and his residency at New York City 's Mount Sinai Medical Center. Licensed in both Florida and New York, Dr. Sultan is affiliated with Broward General Medical Center, where he performs the majority of his surgeries and is a member of the Trauma and Sleep Disorders Teams. A past director of Broward 's Cleft Palate Program, he also cares for the county 's indigent population and volunteers for surgical missions to underdeveloped countries. Away from the surgical suite, Sultan runs; does Pilates; plays guitar and tennis; and is 'the proud dad' to his rescue dog and cat.

Sultan, a Nova Southeastern University assistant adjunct clinical professor who supervises the training of future surgeons, enrolled at Albany because 'it was a great school with a great reputation. I had a lot of friends who were going there, and it was very affordable. Plus, Albany had a really good health sciences program.' Dr. Sultan still keeps in touch with many fellow alumni.

In addition to educational training and clinical experience, oral & maxillofacial surgeons choose to undergo a rigorous written and oral examination given by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to become Board Certified and achieve Diplomate status. Although board certification is not required to practice oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Sultan has completed these examinations and earned Board Certification in 1992. In addition, Dr. Sultan passed the re-credentialing process of his board certification in 2001 and again in 2012.

The South Florida woman ended up with a deformed jawand no lower teeth because of a gun shot wound three years ago. Dr. Sultan offered her a priceless gift to perform her last surgery pro bono as a Holiday gift.

I chose Dr Leslie Sultan for Jawbone and Facial Surgery, and this turned out to be one of the WORST Decisions I have Ever Made! Over the course of 3 years, I have had 9 Infections, spent over $20 Thousand Dollars, and now look Deformed!! Not only have my Implants been removed, but this Dr Accepts ZERO Responsibility for his Actions! Don't be Fooled by his Website, for his Practice is just him, a girl that answers the phone, and a part time worker! For those reading this REVIEW, Please take the time to read other Reviews posted by Me, and YOU will see I have Posted many Positive 5 Star Reviews about Others! If you RESEARCH this Dr (wish I had), You will see, that Several of his past Patients Always End up with INFECTIONS!! Also, Very Greedy and way overcharged my Florida Blue Insurance Company, and most of his 5 Star reviews are from Local Guides (are these even real patients?

Dr. Sultan is amazing. He performed my bilateral TMJ replacement nearly six months ago and I couldn't be happier with the results. The pain is gone, I'm able to open my mouth again, and my quality of life is infinitely better. He is kind, patient, and an overall excellent surgeon. You are in the best hands with him. His staff are wonderful, as well. I'm forever grateful. Thank you, Dr. Sultan! Also, "John Del Grande" continually refreshes his negative review on Google to make it appear as though he's a new patient. He has been doing this for over a year. He also repeatedly "likes" his own review (9+ times now) in an attempt to appear valid. Clearly he's a very sad individual who has nothing better to do with his time than to make up lies about a surgeon.

very skilled, knowledgeable, and caring surgeon, my scars from tmj surgery are nearly invisible and the surgery was very successful, and everyone who works with Dr. Sultan is very nice and caring also :) surgery of course is never fun but dr sultan and his team go the extra mile to make it a successful experience, lots of check-ups and care-instructions.

I had a pretty severe underbite and years of joint damage from tmj and arthritis. My normal pain level was an 8 or 9 daily. Dr. Sultan put together a great treatment plan that involved bilateral joint replacement. My pain is manageable and I have my life back. The surgery was an absolute success and I owe it all to Dr. Sultan!

You're definitely paying for quality. I had double jaw surgery back in Dec 2021 with Dr. Sultan to fix my underbite. Here's the overview: - $16k out of pocket with Florida Blue Health Insurance - Near flawless procedure. Minimal swelling, no bruising, back to normal within 7 weeks besides still waiting for nerve on my chin to regain feeling - Open communication with the office assistants and Dr. Sultan's personal number to contact him incase of any questions before and after the surgery - $5 Copays every office visit (I've had about 8), and purchasing various supplements and tools after the surgery along with braces (~$3k) came out to another roughly $3.5k cost for the full procedure equaling almost $20k out of pocket Procedure: - Moved my upper jaw forward, lower jaw backward, reduced my chin, and opened up my septum. This resulted in: - Improved breathing, no more mouth breathing while I sleep - No more weekly headaches from the bite imbalance - All teeth now align (went from Class 3 to Class 1 Occlusion) when I bite down, making it much easier to chew on things - Much more attractive side profile (nose, lips, and chin are now better aligned)

Starting out my experience with Dr. Sultan was positive as he was very through and passionate about helping me with tmj pain. It caught me by surprise that when it came down to surgery , he tried to charge me over 1000 for an assistant to assist him during surgery. I asked multiple times nicely for the name of the assistant who will be helping during surgery to put an out of network claim in with my insurance. He refused to allow me to try to put this under my insurance and stated that assistant does not accept insurance or out of network benefits . I received an email by the doctor canceling my surgery and discharging me as his patient all because I asked for the name of an assitant . Dr. Sultan took my Aetna insurance but not sure what the issue was with me trying to file a claim with an assitant . The insurance representative said in 17 years of working in the field he has never heard of a doctor refusing to provide a patient with the name of the assistant assisting in surgery . Sounds like he is money greedy at this point and does not really care about me and how I am suffering .

Dr. Sultan is an amazing doctor. My husband recently fractured his jaw, which was a scary experience. Dr. Sultan is incredibly kind and patient. Immediately after meeting him I felt like we were in the right hands. He explained all the procedures and post-op instructions to us in detail and made himself available if I had any questions or concerns. His office staff is very helpful as well and called to check on my husband after his procedures. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Sultan or his office staff. I highly recommend him if you or a loved one are in need of oral surgery.

Dr. Sultan helped alot, my pain was so severe since the jaw affected my neck. I was in so much pain I couldn't drive, socialize, work, study, or even simply sit up in a chair. My pain was so severe I was at a 8 to 9/10 on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst from the moment I opened my eyes in the morning to the moment I went to sleep every single day for 7 months. My throat was so raspy I couldn't even speak properly and I couldn't walk since I'd become so dizzy I'd step over and almost fall. I was losing all hope going doctor to doctor when they wouldn't understand my situation or even seem to care. I had a doctor tell me my pain wasn't from my jaw even though I've gone to spine doctors and everything checked out, that doctor refused me surgery even though I'm completely disabled. When I went to dr. Sultan he really understood my perspective and immediately suggested surgery. I did the surgery and it went very smoothly. My pain went from a 9/10 to a 3/10, got better. Pain even has gone to 1 or 2 out of ten only 24 hours after surgery!

I don't know how this Practice got so high of a rating. I am not a wealthy man. I am a retired Senior Citizen living on a modest fixed income. I have a 5 Star Medicare Advantage Plan HMO. When I drove all the way crosstown I was amazed and then a bit teed off when the receptionist told me my co- payment would be $255! My health insurance plan only requires a $5 co-payment for any specialist. But here is the main kicker, I only needed a mouth piece to protect the side of my tongue from my 4 implants and because I use a CPAP full mask. Now I did register online filling out a form that was more of a legal contract then a simple registration form asking for my personal medical histories and current medications, etc. This "legal document" did announce that they have a diagnostic procedure that costs $250 and is not covered by ANY Insurance, but I did not see any "provision language" that any procedure requires this diagnostic. I have had several mouth pieces done over the years, and all my previous Oral Surgeons just had to make a simple impression of my mouth and teeth which of course most health insurances cover. Needless to say, I reported this incident to the CMS and to my Health Insurance Company. If you are not a wealthy person like me you should ask them on the first telephone appt. call to ask what the total co-payment shall be.
