We are a no secrets orthodontic practice, so family members are always allowed and welcomed to join our patients in the treatment area. Its more important than ever to brush and floss regularly when you have braces, so the teeth and gums are healthy during orthodontic treatment. Patients who do not keep their teeth clean may require more frequent visits to the dentist for a professional cleaning. Adults who have a history of gum disease should also see a periodontist during orthodontic treatment. Watch the two videos below on the proper care of braces during orthodontic treatment.
What can you eat? Lets talk about what you shouldnt eat! For the first day or so, stick to soft foods. Avoid tough meats, hard breads, and raw vegetables. Before long, youll be able to bite a cucumber again. But youll need to protect your orthodontic appliances when you eat for as long as youre wearing braces.
When you get your braces on, you may feel general soreness in your mouth and teeth may be tender to biting pressures for 3 5 days. Take Tylenol or whatever you normally take for headache or discomfort. The lips, cheeks and tongue may also become irritated for one to two weeks as they toughen and become accustomed to the braces. We will supply wax to put on the braces in irritated areas to lessen discomfort.
To successfully complete orthodontic treatment, the patient must work together with the orthodontist. The teeth and jaws can only move toward their corrected positions if the patient consistently wears the rubber bands or other appliances as prescribed. Lack of cooperation following instructions and damaged appliances lengthen the treatment time so please follow instructions.

I chose Sullivan Orthodontics to have work done to correct my bite and enhance my smile. Dr. Sullivan was very thorough from the start regarding the process needed to attain my goals. Dr. Sullivan and his entire staff have always been very professional, personable and informative and I always felt very relaxed attending my appointments. I highly recommend Sullivan Orthodontics- super nice people and I am very pleased with my results!

Sullivan Orthodontics has provided me with an amazing smile and perfectly straight teeth. I received great service and the staff was always extremely friendly and helpful. My appointments were always right on schedule which was very convenient so I could get back to school on time.

Dr. Sullivan and all the staff are awesome!! He and his assistants are so great with their patients, and so friendly/personable. My girls request to see the same assistant each time. They love them (Megan and Lindsey rock). We couldn't imagine going anywhere else for braces, and we wouldn't! Seriously the best!!!

Dr. Sullivan and his staff are highly professional and knowledgeable. My daughter has completed phase one of her treatment and my son is currently in his last 4 months of treatment. From establishing rapport, to information sharing with our general dentist, to my kids feeling comfortable with the service, to pricing and billing, I have zero complaints. I'm not just satisfied, I am so happy with the choice of having Dr. Sullivan for my children's orthodontist.

I posted a review on his Pittsford location, but I love this location too. I stand by what I mentioned in my other post: Dr. Sullivan always treats his patients with kindness, respect, and is great at making patients feel comfortable. I love this location because it's close to home, but the Pittsford location is absolutely wonderful too. He and his team are extremely eager and willing to work with a patient to help them achieve their perfect smile, as well as more than willing to work with someone about payment methods as well. Great family-oriented environment, everyone is so nice, I always feel welcome! Highly recommend.

I chose to go to Sullivan Orthodontics because his office is very close to my house. Luckily, this is a great office and the doctor is great! Dr. Sullivan has been overseeing my Invisalign treatment since I decided to make an appointment to talk to him about it a little over a year ago. He told me the pros and cons and really seemed to care that I made the right decision, and not just the most costly one. All of the staff have been wonderful as well :) I have a few more months with my aligners and the change has been incredible so far! I visit the doctor every couple of months and he always makes sure everything is tracking right. I'm very happy with Sullivan Orthodontics!
