Dr. Angela Sullivan was raised in Wichita, KS. She then attended Washburn University and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with her emphasis in genetics. Following graduation, Dr. Sullivan moved to Kansas City to work for Children's Mercy Hospital studying genetic abnormalities. It was working in research that she realized how much she missed working with and helping people. Dr. Sullivan then completed four years of dental training at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry and graduated in 2008. She has been in private practice since and has worked with many skilled dentists and specialists, enabling her to gain valuable experience in many areas of dentistry and patient care.

Dr. Sullivan values education and routinely attends classes and seminars to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and technology. Her emphasis on prevention and patient comfort enables her to provide the highest quality of care. She will get to know you on a personal level, thoroughly discussing your needs and goals before designing a treatment plan specific to you. Dr. Sullivan is associated with the American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association, Spear Study Club, and Great Plains Study Club (Seattle Study Club).

Dr. Sullivan and her family are excited to be a part of the Westwood and surrounding communities. Outside of dentistry, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Sean, and their two daughters, Teagan and Ireland, and her mini golden doodle named Seamus. She enjoys spending her free time doing CrossFit, running, and reading.

On a more personal note, I was born and spent part of my childhood in a country south of Russia. I am fluent in Russian and understand several other languages. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my two kids and fianc. We love to swim, run, dance, go for a bike ride, bake, and simply act silly. I also love to travel. Hi, My name is Carmen. I joined Sullivan Family Dental in June of 2017 and am a dental hygienist. It is exciting to work with a group of dedicated individuals who are committed to providing dental care that exceeds the expectations of our patients. It is a pleasure to meet our patients to help each person maintain a healthy smile. I graduated from Rockhurst University in 2009 with a degree in Molecular Biology. While attending Rochurst, I was a member of the Women's Golf Team. Following graduation, I attended the University of Missouri Kansas City, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. A fun fact is that my sister, Megan, and I were both students of the dental hygiene program graduating together in 2011. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, friends, and family. I am an avid sports fan, and my morning show is typically Sports Center. Being outside is one of my favorite places to be Especially if it is walking down the fairway on any golf course. I have an opportunity to continue playing golf and love to compete competitively in amateur golf events around the country. One other fun activity is assisting the Women's Golf Team at Rockhurst. Hello, my name is Erica. I am Dr. Sullivan's dental assistant. Born and raised in KCK, I attended Turner High School, graduating in 2005. Before assisting, I worked as a conference support specialist for five years. Due to the recession, I was forced to examine my career path. As I pondered the path I wanted to take, I was reminded of the remarkable experiences I had with both my childhood dentist and orthodontist. In September 2010, I attended Concorde Career College for dental assisting. Looking back, I see the recession was a blessing in disguise. It's a pleasure to work alongside such a kind and caring dentist like Dr. Sullivan. One of the greatest feelings is when we have helped a patient achieve their best oral health, and they become confident with their beautiful smile. When I'm not at work, I spend time with my three beautiful children: Eva, age 14, Jacob, age 12, and Jeremiah, age 6. Nothing brings me more joy than spending time with my family and friends. When I do have free time, my favorite thing to do is sing karaoke. I would like to leave you with some wise advice: floss, floss, floss!

Hi, my name is Bailey. I am the scheduling coordinator and the newest team member at Sullivan Family Dental. I moved to KC in 2013 and instantly fell in love with the city. I spend most of my free time with my family, boyfriend, friends, and Shih-Tzu named Franklin. When I'm not working, you can find me reading, traveling, and trying new recipes. I graduated from UMKC in 2017 with a Bachelors in Sociology with the intention of becoming a social worker. After trying a few jobs in social work, I realized it wasn't the right fit and fell into dentistry. The same reason I wanted to be a social worker is the same reason I enjoy being in the dental world - helping people. I love getting to know our patients and making them feel at home. My favorite part of working at Sullivan Family Dental is being surrounded by positive women that care so much about our patients, each other, and the practice.

We take great pride in creating a safe, comfortable space for kids to get the dental care they need. As a mother herself, Dr. Sullivan understands that it's not uncommon for children to feel nervous or uneasy about visiting the dentist or any doctor for that matter. That's why we go above and beyond to ensure they have a great time while they're with us and learn just how fun and rewarding taking care of their smiles can be!

Children should begin visiting the dentist regularly by the time they turn one year old or around the time their first tooth comes in, whichever happens first. Even if your child only has a few teeth, we can still clean and examine them and ensure that everything looks normal and healthy or provide treatment if necessary. Dont worry if your child has passed these milestones and hasnt seen a dentist yet we would be happy to work with them when you are able to bring them in!

Even though kids lose all of their baby teeth, usually by the time they turn eleven, they are still important. Children should visit the dentist at least twice per year for routine cleanings and exams just like adults to keep their teeth squeaky clean, and to take care of any dental issues as they arise. Tooth decay in a baby tooth can affect the adult tooth below it, so if your child needs a filling or a baby root canal, we recommend scheduling treatment as soon as possible to prevent further damage from occurring.

We always recommend that parents speak to their children in a positive way when discussing the importance of dentistry and oral health care. If its their first time visiting our office, you can tell them about the toys and books in our lobby and the cartoons they can watch while we work on their smile. If your child always experiences dental anxiety no matter what, our office offers nitrous oxide sedation, which can relieve their racing thoughts and help them relax during their dental treatments.
