Dr. Hiru Mathur is a Board Certified Periodontist practicing since 1999 specializing in Periodontal & Implant Surgery. She is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Texas, Houston since she graduated. Dedicated to improving clinical skills and better patient care, Dr. Mathur takes several continuing education courses and has founded her own study club to help dentists and their staff members improve their patient care. Our office receives regular and advanced training in lasers, dental implants and other state of the art dental procedures to ensure the highest quality of care.
She is a member of numerous prestigious organizations, including the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, Texas Dental Association, Greater Houston Dental Society, International Congress of Oral Implantology & the Indian Doctors Association.
Dr. Mathur also works with several community organizations and just recently got appointed as Luminary Ambassador of the Asian American Family Services (AAFS). AAFS is dedicated to serving the mental health needs of the Asian American community. Dr. Mathur is also a member of Operation Smile.
She is fluent in five languages including Hindi and Spanish. Dr. Mathur is also an avid reader and enjoys traveling. She and her husband reside in the Sugar Land with their two children. They have been actively involved with the Fort Bend Boys Choir and Soccer.

Dr Mathur' staff is so friendly, professional and helpful everytime I call or come in. I had a large bill procedure last year and a year later the insurance tried to stick me with the portion they originally agreed upon. But Dr Mathur's assistant went to bat for me in a 3 way conversation and took care of that insurance company to get them to fulfill what they were supposed to have paid. Very professional an attention to every detail of your oral hygiene or dental needs! Highly recommend you give them a call!

Place is clean and staff are professional. My hygienist did a good job cleaning my teeth. I really like my hygienist, Crystal, who worked very hard to ensure my teeth are clean. She put in a lot of work and always did a great job.

I rarely give reviews, but in this case I feel like I need to reach out to any perhaps nervous patients that are on the fence about a periodontics' procedure, or trying to decide on a good periodontist. Recently I had a dental implant done at Sugar Land Periodontics by Dr. Mathur. At my first appointment the entire staff was very kind, courteous, and professional. On the initial appointment Dr. Mathur took a lot of time to explain the problem, diagram, show pictures, etc., of the area and what the procedure would accomplish. She was in NO hurry. Then after much consideration and a second opinion from another periodontist I scheduled the implant procedure with Dr. Mathur. The day of my procedure I was of course very nervous, however, the staff quickly put me at ease. I did the conscious sedation and I can not say enough good and positive things about it. I felt absolutely nothing, and only really remember being gently nudged by Dr. Mathur with her saying that "we were all finished and it was time to go home". Wow! All those sleepless nights leading up to the procedure were all for nothing. I hope I do not need another implant in the future, however if I do, or if I need any other periodontics work then I would ONLY go to Dr. Mathur. Ron Scharn

They are efficient yet give me all the time I need to get questions answered. An excellent place of care for next level teeth issues above what your dentist can provide. I highly recommend the team at SL Periodontics! Their office runs on time. Everyone is nice and professional.

It was a very warm experience. I was nervous when I called, but the lady who answered the phone had a very calming voice. This continued to my visit. I was welcomed when I got to the office and everything was handled very professionally. Main thing is they seemed to feel my anxiety and they dealt with it extremely well.
