She earned her bachelors degree from UCLA, and her dental degree from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine in 2009. In dental school, she volunteered for a service trip to Costa Rica and Nicaragua to treat the under-served population. She also worked with several after-school programs that provide dental education for Philadelphia inner-city children.
After dental school, Dr. Sugar received advanced training from a year-long residency in general dentistry at the Sepulveda Veteran Affairs Hospital in North Hills, California. She stayed on to become chief resident for a second year to gain additional experience with implants, cosmetic dentistry, and advanced prosthodontics.
Dr. Sugar has a continued love for learning. To stay current with the latest in dentistry, she is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Santa Barbara/Ventura Dental Society, and Spear Study Club.

The entire office is such a positive place. I was there to get the final step of tooth implants! Everyone seemed as excited as I was! They were very professional but also relaxed and friendly. My children are grown but I imagine they are great with kids also! They offer amenities knowing dental visits can be scary... if you're looking for an adult or family dentist, I highly recommend Sugar Family Dental!

I hate going to the dentist, but this place is different. The entire staff is so friendly and energetic, you can feel the compassion and it relaxes you. Dr Sugar makes you feel at ease. Mary does a great job, and I recommend her to all my friends and co-workers. Great place!!!

I really can't thank all of the staff enough for how great they've been to not only my teeth but to me! From up front at the desk, assistants and Dr. Sugar herself. They've all been so kind and patient with me throughout all my appointments and made sure I'm comfortable at each one. I was finally able to get Invisalign and the team worked with me to help me get my teeth where I wanted them to be before my wedding. A week before my wedding I was right at the end of my trays. I looked back at the wedding day photos and realized I would not have been showing my teeth if it weren't for them. I can't thank this team enough!!

From the moment you walk in everyone is kind and welcoming. This dentist office breaks all of the negative stereotypes that you normally associate with going to the dentist. They offer you so many amenities along the way and strive to make sure you're comfortable, and the procedure was painless. They were gentle and accommodating, and my daughter left with a big shining smile!

I would like to start off thanking the staff for being so sweet and welcoming. I had such a great experience. it is such a nice feeling knowing that I could trust Dr. Sugar with my children's dental work and knowing they are in good hands. With the current Covid situation going on they were so good in taking the extra precautions in the Office. I felt very safe through the whole appointment.
