Suffolk Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics treats all children, including any kids who may have special needs like autism, cerebral palsy, and varying levels of cognitive ability. Being a pediatric dentist isn't just caring for teeth. It also means being aware of the most important components of child psychology in order to keep visits friendly, fun, and enjoyable.
In 1976, Dr. Stephen Gold started one of the first pediatric dental practices in Suffolk County with a staff of 6 people. The colors of the time were blue, green, and bright yellow. A 4-year-old boy commented that the yellow chair looked like a giant banana. Hence the banana chair was born. Since then, our pediatric patients have taken over one million rides on the iconic banana chair. Suffolk Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics has grown from that small office to 5 busy locations in Port Jefferson Station, Wading River, Sayville, and Medford, NY.
Dr. Coniglio grew up in Bethpage, NY. After graduating with a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, he received his D.D.S. degree from Case Western Reserve University and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He earned his specialty degree in Pediatric Dentistry at Lutheran Medical Center where he was Chief Resident.
In addition to being president of the Suffolk Pediatric Dentistry Study Club, Dr. Coniglio is also on the attending staff of St. Charles Hospital and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Suffolk County Pediatric Dental Society, the New York Dental Society, and the American Dental Association. He is happily married and a devoted father to his 3 young daughters, Bridgette, Gillen, Tess, and his son, Finn.
Dr. Eliades graduated from Seton Hall University with a B.S. in Biology and earned a degree in Physiology from Fairleigh Dickenson University. She was awarded her D.M.D. degree and graduated with honors from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Dental School. She was also honored with the New Jersey Society of Dentistry for Children Award and inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.
She served as Chief Resident in Pediatric Dentistry at Long Island Jewish Medical Center-Schneider Childrens Hospital where she also received specialty training. Currently, she is on the attending dental staff at St. Charles Hospital, a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and has practiced Pediatric Dentistry in Suffolk County since 1994.

FANtastic first experience at Suffolk Pediatric Dentistry in Wading River after several questionable visits to Sunny Smiles in Riverhead with my now 3 & 5yos. A world of difference... night and day when comparing to Sunny Smiles. We were greeted with a warm welcome at reception, followed by a welcoming and relaxed cleaning with Sheila - so friendly, kind, and gentle, like a friend you've always known, which immediately put my son at ease - and a personable check-up with Dr. Tom himself. My child was cooperative and happy because he felt respected and safe, and we all left happy - I didn't know this outcome would be possible after a few VERY unsavory visits to Sunny Smiles in Riverhead. I'm never looking back and wish I had made the switch sooner! Thank you Suffolk Pediatric Dentistry!!

Our son (3 years old) had his first visit with this practice today and absolutely loved it! He couldn't wait to go into the banana chair. Everyone was so kind and patient making him comfortable and it made his experience even better than expected. Highly recommend

Brought both my children here today. The staff was excellent. They were kind, personable, and patient. My oldest is always so nervous about going to the dentist, and he was reassured by his hygienist and did everything he was asked to do with no crying. He immediately told me this was the best dentist he has ever gone to!

Love, love, LOVE!!! Everyone in the office is super friendly and informative. You can't go wrong with any dentist or assistant you see. But my kids do have a special place in their heart for Dr.C. He is absolutely amazing. My little one smiles every time he sees him which says a lot, since he's been seeing dentists since he was born (Yes, he was born with teeth). My little guy was not a fan of anyone prior. I am so glad we made a switch to SPD&O. Dr.C did full mouth surgery on my little guy and he was up and ready to go the following day. Loving his new "robot teeth" lol. Christa his assistant, is an absolute blessing. She reassured me and answered every question I had up until the day of surgery. 5++++++++ stars!

Recently switched to the Wading River office and I am so glad I did. The receptionist is amazing and so nice and helpful, she went above and beyond helping me get switched over and the dentist and hygienist are great as well! I only wish I had changed dentists sooner!

I have a sensory kid and this practice welcomed her with open arms. Dr. C has a friendly warm demeanor- and was able to extract a tooth on our first visit- so he's basically a magician. Dan the hygienist is a champ and gave my daughter a cleaning on second visit making sure she was comfortable every step- and handling all of her demands with a breeze. Worth the trip for us from sag harbor. Couldn't be happier.

What an amazing experience! It was my 3yr old daughters first time. Dr. Dan brought us in and made Eliana feel so special and made sure she understood everything! She was such a good girl and Dr. Dan was excellent at navigateing her through the entire visit! Totally recommend Dr. Dan and the entire practice! We went to the wading river office! Thank you guys everyone there from the front desk girls to the doctors were absolutely fabulous
