Suffolk Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics treats all children, including any kids who may have special needs like autism, cerebral palsy, and varying levels of cognitive ability. Being a pediatric dentist isn't just caring for teeth. It also means being aware of the most important components of child psychology in order to keep visits friendly, fun, and enjoyable.
In 1976, Dr. Stephen Gold started one of the first pediatric dental practices in Suffolk County with a staff of 6 people. The colors of the time were blue, green, and bright yellow. A 4-year-old boy commented that the yellow chair looked like a giant banana. Hence the banana chair was born. Since then, our pediatric patients have taken over one million rides on the iconic banana chair. Suffolk Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics has grown from that small office to 5 busy locations in Port Jefferson Station, Wading River, Sayville, and Medford, NY.
Dr. Coniglio grew up in Bethpage, NY. After graduating with a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, he received his D.D.S. degree from Case Western Reserve University and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He earned his specialty degree in Pediatric Dentistry at Lutheran Medical Center where he was Chief Resident.
In addition to being president of the Suffolk Pediatric Dentistry Study Club, Dr. Coniglio is also on the attending staff of St. Charles Hospital and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Suffolk County Pediatric Dental Society, the New York Dental Society, and the American Dental Association. He is happily married and a devoted father to his 3 young daughters, Bridgette, Gillen, Tess, and his son, Finn.
Dr. Eliades graduated from Seton Hall University with a B.S. in Biology and earned a degree in Physiology from Fairleigh Dickenson University. She was awarded her D.M.D. degree and graduated with honors from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Dental School. She was also honored with the New Jersey Society of Dentistry for Children Award and inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.
She served as Chief Resident in Pediatric Dentistry at Long Island Jewish Medical Center-Schneider Childrens Hospital where she also received specialty training. Currently, she is on the attending dental staff at St. Charles Hospital, a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and has practiced Pediatric Dentistry in Suffolk County since 1994.

This place is one of the best pediatric dentists there is. My son was terrified of the dentist for the longest time and Miss Ally the hygienist makes him comfortable and is so great with kids. Recently he had 4 teeth removed and another great experience that my son barely flinched. The entire office from front end staff to dentists orthodontics hygienists and dental assistants are FANTASTIC. I wish I could give more then 5 stars because they truly are a great office.

My two daughters (3 and 2) just recently had their first appointment at the Port Jeffeson office. I cannot thank the staff enough for their caring and compassion. They were great with handling two little girls who never had cleanings or examinations before. The staff accommodated us with a double appointment, which was great for us. Dr. Coniglio was so gentle, friendly, and my oldest says he is her favorite doctor! Both girls left with age appropriate prizes for good behavior.

Had such a great first experience at the dentist! Office is very kid friendly and clean. There was almost no wait. The hygienist was so sweet and so patient with my son and my son loved the banana chair. Would definitely highly recommend!

After bringing multiple children for simultaneous appointments a few times now, I can say the excellent care and bedside manner of each dentist, hygienist, office associate are not flukes. Especially regarding the hygienists and dentists, their ability to perform on a level that keeps kids calm and happy is simply stunning. All the while, they truly seem happy themselves. It's a refreshingly nice environment, and as a result, all 3 of my kids love going to "the dentist with the banana chairs." To top it all off for a working mom, any service for the kids that can be done thoroughly and in less than an hour is nothing short of miraculous. My kiddo had to have a cavity treatment and we couldn't have had a better experience with Dr. Joe. She didn't have pain, she did cry a little with the noise and water from the drill but after I asked her what did the dentist do and she said he cleaned her teeth. I asked did it hurt and she said no. Dr. Joe was very quick and also very good at multi tasking between monitoring how she responded to the sweet air and performing the procedure. Kudos!
