Dr. Liethen received her Doctorate of Dentistry from Marquette University in 1988. After practicing as an associate for three years in Southern California she settled into her current location in Carlsbad. As a Wisconsin native, sunny California was a welcome change. Dr. Liethen is a member of the American Dental Society, the California Dental Society, and the San Diego Dental Society. Dr. Liethen is on the Advisory Board for the Palomar College Dental Assisting Program and has been a teaching office for dental assisting students for the past 26 years.
Dr Liethen enjoyed being a Cub Scout leader, PTA board member, baseball/soccer team mom, and classroom helper for many years. Dr. Liethen enjoys traveling, gardening, and entertaining. She is very proud of her son Tyler who is an aeronautical engineering student at San Jose State University and a private pilot in his spare time.
It is a pleasure to work with Dr. Liethen. She is a wonderful person who is so caring of everyone. I also look forward to seeing our patients. It is my goal to make each and every patient feel comfortable and confident that they are in good hands. I want each patient to feel that they are a part of our dental 'family'.
Peggy is a dental hygienist in Dr. Liethens office. Her dental hygiene degree was earned in 1985 from Delaware Technical College. She has been working with Dr. Liethen for 24 years. Peggys gentle touch keeps her patients comfortable and dedicated to her schedule. Peggy uses the most advanced techniques to treat her patients periodontal needs and closely monitors any changes that may be detrimental to her patients oral health. Peggy interests include cooking, baking, and visiting the East Coast. She and her husband Dan enjoy spending time with their two grown sons.
The culture of Dr. Liethens practice has always been to provide the most comfortable and caring experience for our patients. Her depth of dental knowledge and commitment to patients continues to impress me.
Marcie is also a dental hygienist in Dr. Liethens office. She graduated from USC with a degree in dental hygiene in 1983. She and Dr. Liethen have worked together for 30 years. Marcies earlier career in a periodontal office shaped how she treats patients with periodontal disease. Marcie utilizes all treatment modalities to efficiently eradicate periodontal problems. Marcie, her husband Steve, and their three children travel to Yosemite often to enjoy their beautiful home in the Park. Marcie other interests include beach walks, gardening, entertaining friends, and making beautiful craft works.
I have worked for Dr. Liethen for 24 years and have thoroughly enjoyed not only working for a great boss but someone I can truly call a friend. She genuinely cares and is concerned about her patients. I feel blessed to have gotten the chance to work in such a wonderful office with such an exceptional dentist and staff.
We are delighted to welcome Cindy to our team. Cindy was attracted to dentistry for the opportunity to truly help people create and maintain healthy, beautiful smiles. A San Diego native, Cindy graduated from Grossmont College as a Registered Dental Assistant. She brings over thirty years experience working side-by-side with patients. In her spare time Cindy enjoys going to plays, sight seeing, and spending time with family and friends.

I love this office. I'm a hygienist that does NOT work for Dr. Liethen but I do get my teeth done at her office. I love the way Marci cleans my teeth. She uses instruments and not just the ultrasonic and is very thorough and gentle. I highly recommend her for a great cleaning. Now, to talk about De. Liethen. She is amazing and doesn't cut corners at all. She gives amazing anesthetic which is what scares so many people. At my first appointment awhile back, I was scheduled with her first and they took the full series of X-rays (which I needed for sure), then Dr. Liethen came in and looked at everything and took some intra oral photos. We went over the pictures and she also performed my tissue measurements. So many offices now have tried to pack too much into a hygienist's schedule and they just can't do it all. So, for myself I needed a couple of things done to my teeth and everything went amazingly well. I then had a onlay done at her office,which is sort of like a crown, and she even took an x-ray of the new onlay in my mouth BEFORE it was cemented permanently. Not many dentists do this anymore and I was so impressed!! This helps her see if the crown or restoration fits well, otherwise if you don't take the x-ray, you just are hoping for the best. So, from someone, (me) who's worked in the field for 23 years, this is an amazing office. I'm so impressed with Dr. Liethen and her staff. If you want really quality work done, this is the place.

I have been going to Dr Liethen for years. The whole office is great; true professionals. Both Dr Liethen and her staff do a wonderful job of taking care of me. I wouldn't trust my care to anyone else.

Dr. Liethen is the BEST dentist. She does fabulous work, is respectful and kind to all of us who are terrified of the dentist, has a bright and spotless office, and truly has the friendliest and most competent staff I have ever met. I was able to meet her and the staff before I made my first appointment and knew then I was in good hands. Since then, Dr. Liethen has repaired a lot of old dental work and made my teeth look good again! I actually look forward to seeing everyone at the office when I need routine dental work done. I give Dr. Liethen my highest recommendation. I can't imagine calling anyone else my dentist.
