Dr. James Hopkins attended school right here in Virginia at George Mason University before continuing on to dental school at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Hopkins brings 46 years worth of knowledge to SMDC and is well trained in many aspects of dentistry including restorative and cosmetic procedures. He takes great care in aiding patients with their concerns and getting them on the road to a healthy smile. He and his wife, Gale have two sons and three grandchildren. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys all that it has to offer.
Dr. William Ossakow feels blessed to be a dentist and to have a job that he loves. He treats every patient as he would his own family, and sleeps well at night knowing that his philosophy of care has positively affected the lives of so many in his community.
Dr. Ossakow attended Virginia Tech for his undergraduate education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1994. He continued on to the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University where, in 2000, he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Committed to keeping at the forefront of dental technology and treatments, Dr. Ossakow continues his education in all aspects of general, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry, with a new interest in preventing and treating sleep apnea and other snoring disorders.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Potomac Implant Society, and the Northern Virginia Dental Society. Originally from Springfield, Virginia, Dr. Ossakow currently lives in Chantilly with his wife, Jessica, and their pup, Ace. He spends his free time with friends and family and loves cheering on the Washington Redskins.
Lisa is the first smile you see when you step through the door. As the manager and treatment coordinator, it is her job to make you love coming to the dentist! She has been serving patients for over 25 years, and as a key player on the team, it is her goal to treat every patient like family.

I've repeatedly had issues with communication and have concerns about quality of care I've gotten from Sudley Manor Dental. In my time with them, they've rarely taken the time to fully explain the work they do or say needed to be done. In addition, I've had serious problems with them getting back to me when I needed follow up appointments. They never contacted me to let me know when crowns arrived, and always claimed it was a problem on my end, despite never having issues when making initial appointments. The most egregious example of their lack of communication was when I had a credit on my account and requested that money be returned to me. I had to follow up twice to find out that they needed my bank account information to start that return but never made any effort to contact me on their own to get it. Like the other low reviews, I have had some issues with insurance payments and their process with that. I also do think they tend to do more work than needed on teeth. However, my biggest concern is that the quality of work is bad. I had two root canals last year with them. When I came back for my check up 6 months later, both of those teeth hurt and I complained about it. They assured me that root canals can just hurt, but when I insisted, they said they needed to be redone because they were infected and that just happens with root canals. I followed up with a different endodontist and what really happened it they missed canals in both of those teeth, over-extended the root canal filling to cause the infection, and badly fit one of the crowns, which will cause further issues down the road. When I brought this to their attention, I never heard from them again. All in all, though they are nice in person, I'd avoid using them.

I take back every good thing I've ever said about this place. They told me it would cost a certain amount to have cavities filled with my insurance. I agreed and paid upfront. They did the work and then sent me an invoice for another $130. I paid $270 already and I told them I couldn't or wouldn't do it if it costs more then a certain amount. They assured me it wouldn't. Now they are owing for my credit. Screw this place. Don't trust them.

This place charged my mother without checking with her insurance first and ended up charging her more than double what she should have paid. They also cleaned one side of her mouth then made her wait 2 weeks before cleaning the other half. Won't be coming back obviously.

Edit 7/12/22: Came here to review them and realized I already had. I can't recommend this dental clinic enough! The entire staff, including front desk, hygienists, and the dentist, are so kind, helpful, and thorough. Went here for a visit. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. No upselling. They were so good, I brought my young son for his first dentist visit. They were amazing with him. Highly recommend.

The service is outstanding! My husband & I have been coming here since they opened several years ago. They are very friendly, helpful & very thorough on regular cleaning, fixing cracked tooth, replacing enamel & cavities

Let me start by saying, I hate going to the dentist. I needed to have a couple of teeth extracted, I had been putting off. It got to the point I couldn't put it off any longer. I called the office, they got a me in immediately. The staff is AMAZING!!! They answered any and all questions. They explain everything they are doing, step by step. The doctor was great and had a gentle hand. I am so pleased with my experience that this girl, has a new dentist!!! 3/9/22 Back for my 2nd visit. We planned extensive dental work. Got there, not happy about going. Same great staff. Lisa is one in a million!!!

I am new to this dental office. They got me in quickly and were so very nice. The dentist and his assistant took their time to resolve my situation. I had such a good experience I have changed my old dental office to this as my new office. The front office manager is very friendly and helpful with getting my insurance verified. I would highly recommend this place!!

Very thorough exam and cleaning. Very professional. Showed me pictures of why the suggested work needed to me done. Also, the receptionist is very knowledgeable about different insurance programs, and showed me how to save significant money

This is the most comfortable and satisfied I have been in a dentist office for years. I love that they are a small office and make you feel like you matter. I was not pushed to do any extreme work done like I had been at other offices. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a new dentist office. The prices are really reasonable compared to a franchise I had been to in the past and I know up front what work needs to be done and how much it will cost. I've now told my family and they will be switching to this office. As an update, my first review was 11 months ago. I just returned from another appointment for quite a bit of work and Dr Hopkins was excellent. He repaired a broken front tooth and other work. You can't even tell it was broken! No expensive cap or root canal, just an honest repair. I will never go any other place then this office and Dr Hopkins. Now here's another excellent thing about this office, the front staff-I wish I knew their names.. I'll make sure to get it next time. When I was told how much the dental work would cost without insurance they gave me Information for a dental plan that is very reasonable and only requires a six month commitment. So far it has saved me over $1200. Excellent service and so friendly!!

Very nice place and amazing staff! From the greeting to the dental care itself is comforting and great! Definitely found my new dentist in staff there. Stay awesome! Lisa is amazing, the doctors and assistants are all amazing and welcoming. All I can say is they do great things here!
