Advancements in orthodontic appliances technology are ever-changing. Thats why its important to find a Gainesville orthodontist who offers the latest types of braces for the best results. Reviewing the types of braces currently on the market can help you when its time to discuss options with your orthodontist.

  • Traditional Braces are much lighter these days and use metal brackets that attach to each tooth and are connected by a thin archwire. This puts pressure on the teeth to move gradually into their desired places.
  • Removable Aligners are an alternative to traditional braces in that they apply pressure to move the teeth but arent affixed to each individual tooth. Instead, they work more like mouthguards, sliding over the teeth and removable for meals or brushing. Invisalign are invisible braces and is one of the most popular choices.
  • Aside from the condition of your teeth, other factors to consider when choosing the right type of braces can include your budget, your comfort level, and your aesthetic preferences. Different types of braces have trade-offs. Traditional braces with metal brackets will be an affordable option for straightening your teeth, but they are quite visible. Removable aligners are mostly invisible to the naked eye, so the fact youre wearing braces will be concealed. However, this type is also more expensive than traditional braces. Since different orthodontists in Gainesville may focus on certain types of braces, its good to find an orthodontist office like Studio32 Orthodontics with a broad knowledge of orthodontic services and appliances.

Before getting braces, you should think of any questions or concerns that you may want to address with your orthodontist. By going through the different questions you have, such as what type of braces your insurance will cover, or whether one set of braces will move your teeth faster than another, your local orthodontist can help you make an informed decision for the best orthodontic treatment.

One question orthodontists are asked is why they recommend orthodontic services for people at a young age. Since the face and jaw of younger patients are still growing, orthodontic appliances can more easily align their teeth and get results that arent possible in a fully developed adult. However, braces are still effective at correcting adult teeth, and Invisalign for adults is an effective option.

As a side note to proper braces care, some metal braces can lead to spotting on the patients teeth if proper cleaning is missed or ignored. In addition to brushing under the archwires of your metal braces with a fine brush and around the brackets with a regular toothbrush, you should floss daily and use a fluoride mouthwash rinse to help strengthen your teeth and avoid spotting. You should also clean your teeth after each time you eat, whether its a snack or meal, to prevent teeth from spotting down the road.

Just as eating healthy foods can improve your physical health, keeping the right type of diet ensures your braces will stay intact and produce the results you desire. As a general rule, hard and sticky foods put braces at risk of damage. Popcorn, nuts, pretzels, and even ice are hard enough to break an orthodontic appliance, while the stickiness of gum or taffy could easily pull an archwire out of place. Other sugary foods that are not beneficial to regular oral health can be worse when you have braces, as food can get trapped in the appliance and cause spotting or cavities.

Different types of braces can come with unique expectations so its best to speak with your orthodontist. The rate at which youll see results from wearing braces is always gradual and takes patience. All braces need to be cared for responsibly, including keeping them clean after every meal, but different braces have different requirements. Removable aligners are easier to clean than ceramic braces, for example, but there is an additional responsibility to keep track of a removable appliance when youre not wearing it. Most orthodontists will tell you that you should expect braces to become part of your person while you wear them, and this means caring for them as you would the rest of your health.

Be sure to ask your orthodontist for insights on how to care for your braces and your oral health. The first step to proper care of your orthodontic appliance is to take off any removable parts before you start cleaning your braces. If the orthodontist provides you with a special brush, you should use this as directed. The remaining steps pertain to oral health, including brushing your teeth in the morning, after every meal, and before bed; flossing twice daily using any special apparatus provided; rinsing with a mouthwash; and attending all follow-up visits with your orthodontist and dentist.

The clear alternative to braces, Invisalign uses a series of comfortable and removable clear aligners that no one can tell you're wearing. So, you can smile more during treatment as well as after. Invisalign is custom made with 3D computer-imaging technology and is proven to be an effective orthodontic treatment for common orthodontic conditions and alignment issues, such as overcrowding, gapped teeth, open bites, underbites, crossbites, and overbites.

Invisalign treatment involves wearing a series of clear aligners or trays in order to gradually straighten teeth and create a beautiful smile that lasts a lifetime. A series of aligners are to be worn in a specific order, with each one featuring a different shape that gradually changes as teeth move into alignment. The virtually invisible aligners are made of strong, medical-grade thermoplastic material, uniquely developed for the Invisalign system.

Our Gainesville orthodontist, Dr. Mullally has extensive training in the field of orthodontics following dental school, she spent an additional 2 years of residency learning how to diagnose and create treatment plans for even the most challenging orthodontic conditions. In addition, Dr. Mullally has completed comprehensive training in designing and programming Invisalign and regularly attends advanced courses for continued learning of the most efficient techniques for treating almost any case with Invisalign aligners.

As experienced providers of Invisalign, the Studio32 Orthodontics team will guide you through each step of the treatment process to help you achieve the bright, beautiful smile youve always wanted. Contact us today to get started!

When patients first start wearing Invisalign, they will wear each set of custom-made aligners in 2-week increments for up to 22 hours per day, depending on the difficulty of movements and whether or not the patient uses Propel. Patients remove their aligners only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As patients replace each aligner with the next in the series, their teeth will move little by little, week by week until they have straightened to their final position. In order to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned, patients will visit our practice about once every 8-12 weeks. Total treatment time averages 9-12 months with some cases finishing much faster and other more complex cases taking close to 18 months.

The importance of orthodontic treatment cannot be understated orthodontics help to improve both oral health and self-confidence. But, when it comes to choosing among the available types of braces, its important to consider all benefits and drawbacks of each kind. Invisalign helps patients undergo orthodontic treatment without requiring that patients alter their habits as they would with traditional braces. The discreet appearance of clear aligners offers patients the ability to keep their treatment private, while still effectively improving the alignment of their smile.

Studio32 Orthodontics utilizes the iTero Element Intraoral Scanner, which is specifically engineered to work with Invisalign braces. The iTero allows our orthodontists to easily scan and view oral images in 3D, all while alongside the patient for both ease of access and comfort.

iTero scanning is different from X-Ray scanning, as scans can be taken while the patient is in motion, which means patients don't have to sit still while waiting for each click! Images are automatically stitched together for easy viewing and no waiting times.

iTero Element Intraoral scanning is an alternative to traditional impressions, which can be uncomfortable and messy. iTero offers superior chairside service and it can also improve the overall Invisalign experience.

Invisalign patients who start treatment with iTero scans have seven times fewer fit-related issues than those who opted for traditional impressions. A better fit means your Invisalign system will be more comfortable and produce maximum results.

They could get 5 stars for customer service alone. Whether you contact them by phone (I've left a message on the weekend ) an email, by Facebook messenger, or even by the Google chat feature they have always returned my message in a short period of time. I had COVID and had to push my appointment ment back significantly and they made the process very easy. Two weeks after my first appointment tho Ortho herself called me to assure I was comfortable. To me that's going above and beyond. Even now after my tightening they're asking me about my comfort and keeping me updated where we are in my treatment plan and things I can do to make the process easiest for me. On top of that they make it easy to afford with or without insurance, with the various specials they run. This is not the only Ortho I've seen, but it is the only Ortho I'll recommend.

Great staff and studio! I was very pleased with how the studio handled treatment during the pandemic. My daughter received excellent treatment, and we were always able to be promptly accommodated for all of the orthodontic "emergencies," like popped bands, etc.

I cannot say enough good things about the entire Studio 32 staff. This is our second time as a patient. Every single aspect of my son's experience with them both times has been positive. He suffered a traumatic dental injury two weeks ago. Dr. Mullally answered my call at 7:45 on a Sunday morning. Both her and Dr. Olson met us at their office after we were released from the ER that night. They have been absolutely amazing in helping us through this. I would recommend them to anyone needing orthodontic care.

Recently I went for a consultation and I was bit caught off guard about what the ortho told me. She insisted that I go to a dentist instead to fix the cavities and plaque etc. and therefore could not give me a consultation until I do. I get that she was trying to help, but she was incredibly condescending and didn't answer any of my questions about the braces routine. I'm saying this because now I have severe mouth plain, which I just recently found out is a wisdom tooth, and feel that I could've better prepare to handle it if the ortho had informed me properly, considering that they did an X-ray.

They were very nice with a bright friendly office. The consultation was thorough and they recommended exactly what my son's dentist had already predicted. Did not try to scare us into additional unneeded treatment? I highly recommend them.

In the year of 2016 which was my first year at UF, I wanted to fix my teeth so my cousin suggested I get braces and the orthodontist that he recommended was studio 32 since that was his previous orthodontist. I'm so glad he did because this was by far the best experience that I had with dentistry in general. Everyone's nice, the team is professional and the environment is welcoming despite age and etc. I highly recommend this place, you won't regret it. -Dem

I can't speak enough about how awesome the staff and Dr Nicole are! From the beginning to the end of my daughters dental treatment they have been available, attentive and extremely caring. Any questions I had Ashley was literally right there to either answer or find the answer. My daughter literally looked forward to her appointments and oddly enough was sad about getting them taken off lol Even with the pandemic they handled everything with grace and a smile. I am forever grateful to the magic they did with my daughters smile. She's more confident than ever!
