Dr. Tyler has been climbing the ladder in the field of dentistry for more than 20 years. His journey began right here in Stuart, after graduating from Martin County High School. He started working in a dental lab while attending Indian River State Colleges Dental Laboratory Technology and Management program. Upon graduation, he passed written and practical exams to earn his Certified Dental Technician (C.D.T.) status. By this time, Dr. Tyler had fallen in love with dentistry and dedicated himself to becoming a dentist.

The next part of his journey took him to Gainesville, Florida. He had been accepted to attend the University of Florida to earn a bachelors degree (B.S.) in Microbiology and Cell Science. After graduating with honors, he was accepted to the University of Florida College of Dentistry. Dr. Tyler went on to become a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) and licensed general dentist.

However, even after four years of dental school, he felt like he had more to learn. His dental lab experience destined him to pursue three additional years of advanced education in the dental specialty of prosthodontics. More than 13 years after his journey began in the dental lab, Dr. Tyler earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Dental Sciences and was certified as a prosthodontist.

Dr. Tyler gained a clear and wide-ranging understanding of restorative, cosmetic, and digital dentistry by becoming a Certified Dental Technician prior to becoming a prosthodontist. In his past dental lab experience, he used wax to design full arches of customized teeth and fabricated crowns and bridges in the traditional approach. This developed his expertise in creating artfully crafted, superb dental prosthetics using digital advancements as they have evolved over the years.

Dr. Tyler believes in delivering dentistry that goes above and beyond the accepted standards of care. If complex treatment is needed, he values interdisciplinary dentistry and believes that, in certain circumstances, other highly qualified specialists may be best to perform particular treatments. If he cannot perform a procedure to his high standards, he will readily refer you to another specialist who will be able to help Dr. Tyler accomplish restoration of your oral health to optimum function and esthetics.

Dr. Tyler is a devoted husband to his wife Katie, and a committed father to his two precious boys, Olin III and Cashel. He is grateful to have such supportive parents, Olin and Carol, who reside here locally. He cherishes time spent with his family including their two dogs, Peaches and Mojo. They enjoy spending time out on the water, boating and on their personal water crafts (Waverunners). Being that his family originates from Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Tyler is a loyal Detroit sports fanDetroit Tigers, Detroit Redwings, Detroit Lions, and Detroit Pistons. Obviously, after spending many years at the University of Florida in Gainesville, he is proud to be a GatorGo Gators!

Gum disease is one of the leading causes of tooth loss. Gum disease has two primary stages. If diagnosed and treated in the first stage, the condition can be reversed and tooth loss can usually be prevented. In order to prevent gum disease, practice good oral hygiene and visit your dentist for cleanings and check-ups twice a year.

This stage only affects the soft tissue of the gums, and the patient may not experience any discomfort. Although the symptoms may be very mild, it is important to diagnose gum disease in this early stage before it progresses to periodontitis.

Periodontitis is the name for more advanced periodontal disease and if permitted to progress to this point, not only the gums are affected but the bone structures supporting the teeth will be compromised.

A build-up of bacteria causes Gingivitis. In its early stages, inflammation around the gums is observable, with gum tissues appearing red and swollen. Gums that are easily irritated or that bleed during tooth brushing indicate the presence of Gingivitis. Removal of the plaque buildup is necessary to prevent the development of gum disease.

Stuart Prosthetic Dentistry - General dentist in Stuart, FL

As the gums become more inflamed, they start to pull away from the teeth, forming spaces known as periodontal pockets. Food, bacteria, and plaque begin to collect in the pockets, leading to infection. The surrounding bone becomes damaged both by bacterial toxins and by the immune systemsresponse to infection.

Most dentists use handpiece (drill) motors that are driven by compressed air, leading to that annoying high pitch squealing noise, dentists are so noted for. However, with the exception of being more expensive, there are more advantages for the handpieces we use driven by an electric motor.

Absolutely BEST cleaning I've ever had. Thank you, Sandy. Can't wait to complete other dentistry here. 2/13;22: I'm back.... Well, just had three front chipped crowns replaced on Friday.....I cannot believe how things turned out. The teeth came out beyond my expectations. I've had some of the best dentists during my 68 years, and Dr. Tyler is truly a very gifted specialist. I love my new teeth and look forward to any future work with this practice. Top notch all the way. I also was very impressed with the technology used here. My case was a pretty challenging one, but Dr. Tyler did a wonderful job. Thank you, again, Doc.

This will be the review of all reviews, especially for those who are a bit fearful of dentists. Start to finish, from the friendly greeting at the front door by Jenessa to Bonnie's cleaning, which was noticeably better than anywhere I have previously been, every experience at this hygienically clean practice has been friendly, caring and professional. My crown specialist in Boston suggested I see a Prosthodontist for some cosmetic crown work. I have found that expertise in Dr Olin, who along with his assistant, Sarah, are constantly ensuring my satisfaction and comfort. In fact, I fell asleep during one procedure involving a crown replacement...they were that gentle and caring. It is also reassuring to know that Dr. Olin goes the extra mile in backing up the quality of his work, which has been top notch. If you're looking for a general dentist or specialist who is gentle and can make your smile bright, look no more.

I had such a positive and refreshing experience at Stuart Prosthetic Dentistry. From my first interaction with Lisa I knew I was in good hands. Once I was finished seeing Dr. Tyler and Sarah I felt totally at ease. They were so kind and helpful to me, being sure to explain all my options and everything that was happening in great detail but also easy to understand. I appreciated this so very much. They were able to accommodate me at the very last minute and completely went above and beyond to make sure I understood and was on board with the procedure. Stuart Prosthetic Dentistry was a professional place filled with staff who actually care so much and it truly shows in how they treat their patients. I would 100% recommend this business to anyone looking for an honest, accommodating and friendly comfortable place to have dental work done.
