My orthodontic treatment is not just about straightening your teeth; it is about changing your life! My team and I love to create beautiful smiles that our patients are proud of. One of our goals is to develop a friendship with our patients while they are in treatment that is lasting and memorable! It gives us great satisfaction and joy to see our patients reach the end of their treatment with the self-assurance and confidence that a beautiful smile adds to a life.
When I was a teenager, I had a wonderful experience with the orthodontist my family chose for me. My personal experience wearing braces and the influence of that offices staff helped me understand that orthodontics and the way people are treated can make a life-changing difference! I have always found a special joy in helping people. Orthodontics blends the two perfectly!
The field of orthodontics has changed significantly in the 30 years Ive been practicing. To stay at the forefront of developing technology, I attend local, state, and national continuing education courses. Continued learning enables me to implement the most current orthodontic technologies and procedures for my patients in order to give them beautiful smiles in the shortest amount of time.
One such technology has been Invisalign. Many of my younger patients, as well as adults, are interested in aligning their teeth without braces. I have been using Invisalign treatment since 2001 to provide this service and continue to keep up with advances in Invisalign treatment.
I was born in Nashvilleand moved to Louisvillewhen I was in in fifth grade. In high school, I participated in swimming, track, and band. I have always enjoyed golfing, tennis, and waterskiing, as well as snow skiing.
I moved to Marietta in 1981 when I graduated from my orthodontic residency. My wife Kathy and I eventually settled inthe Alpharetta area where we now reside. Kathy and I have two wonderful children, Jon and Nikki, and three terrific grandsons: Jacob, William, and Sam. When I am not in the office, you will find me enjoying my family and at my grandsons sporting events.
I have always been actively involved in church:teaching and going on retreats with the youth. I currently work with recovery programs that help men who are recovering from alcohol and substance addictions. I have served as a board member and past chairman of the board of Georgia Agape, an adoption and foster placement agency located here in Atlanta through which my wife and I have enjoyed fostering infants and young children.

Stroop Orthodontics has been a staple of the Marietta, Kennesaw, and Acworth, GA communities for more than 30 years. Our warm and friendly family-oriented practice, coupled with excellent cosmetic and functional results, helps us maintain our outstanding reputation.
As we continue to create beautiful smiles, we enjoy many of our former patients bringing their children to our office for their orthodontic treatment. We count it a privilege that several of the general dentists and dental employees in our area have brought their children to be treated by Dr. Stroop.
For most people, achieving a healthy, beautiful smile is the reason for receiving orthodontic care. If youre self-conscious about your smile, correcting your concerns with braces will greatly improve the way you look and feel.
When your treatment is complete, you will have the smile youve always dreamed of and the confidence to show it off! We also want you to feel comfortable and confident throughout your entire orthodontic experience, and our practice is dedicated to making sure you receive the quality care you deserve.
Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.
Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great time to wear braces!
Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years, depending on several factors, including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is. Many times, Invisalign treatment time is faster than traditional braces.
A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help ensure a quicker treatment time.
