Dr. Cathy Wiltshire is lead orthodontist at Straighten Up Orthodontics. Dr. Wiltshire completed her post-doctoral residency in orthodontics at Howard University in Washington, D.C. During her residency, Dr. Wiltshire received advanced education in orthodontics, training for patients undergoing orthognathic surgery, and certification in Invisalign treatments.
Through memberships with the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, and Maryland Dental Society, as well as regular attendance at conferences and seminars, Dr. Wiltshire stays up-to-date on the latest orthodontic treatments and techniques. Invisalign treatments involve wearing a series of aligner that that are used to gently nudge the teeth into their correct positions. Your treatment length and the number of trays you are prescribed are dependent on your personalized course of treatment.
The difference is clear. Invisalign aligner trays are constructed of a clear thermoformed plastic they are also BPA- and bisphenol S-free. These trays perfectly encapsulate the teeth and can be removed whenever you eat or brush your teeth. Since they are totally transparent, most people wont be able to tell youre wearing any type of orthodontic device.
Invisalign clear aligners are designed for comfort. The surfaces of these aligners are ultra-smooth to reduce the possibility of irritation. In fact, after a few days, youll most likely forget youre wearing them at all.
Invisalign treatments are designed to correct minor to moderately severe cases of crooked and misaligned teeth (malocclusions), as well as conditions such as overbites, underbites, and teeth crowding. In more extreme cases, this may not be the preferred treatment method.
