I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, where I was one of ten children.My dad is a children's dentist, and my older brother is a general dentist, both in Omaha. Of course, I'm a huge Nebraska Cornhusker fan!My hobbies include golf, running and most of all, spending time with my wonderful wife and college graduate daughter.
I always wanted to serve my country, so after graduating from Creighton University School of Dentistry, I joined the United States Navy as a dental officer.Serving in the Navy was a great experience, especially my two years at sea on board the USS Germantown.While I was stationed at Camp Pendleton, completing my General Practice Residency, I knew San Diego was the place I wanted to call home.
I returned to the University of Nebraska and completed my orthodontic training in 1998.With my wife and baby daughter in tow, I was able to find a great practice in La Mesa with Dr. Dennis McKee in 1998.
I am Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and a VIP Diamond+ Provider for Invisalign and Invisalign Teen, with more than 3250 in treatment and completed Invisalign cases, as of 2021. I've been recognized by Invisalign with an Outstanding Leadership Award. My peers have also recognized Stormberg Orthodontics/Dr. Stormberg as one of the Top Orthodontist in San Diego County.
My other passion is organized dentistry where I have served in many leadership positions including past president of the Pacific Society of Orthodontists, past President of the San Diego County Dental Society and the Board of Director for a variety of orthodontic organizations. I have always felt it is very important to give back to my profession which has given me such a wonderful career.
I chose to specialize in orthodontics because I enjoy the challenges orthodontic treatment presents, and I feel that by bringing smiles to my patients, I can influence their lives in a positive way. I enjoy talking with my patients and their families, learning what is happening in their lives. I have three generations of families in treatment, and a number of patients turned employees, that have continued to enrich my life.
I grew up in Basking Ridge, New Jersey as the youngest of three children. As part of a family with both a military and medical background, I learned at an early age about selfless service, sacrifice, and humility. I benefitted from an early exposure to a variety of medical fields thanks to my family members. Despite that, I chose to follow in my fathers footsteps and pursued a career in Dentistry.
After graduating from the University of Michigan and Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, I commissioned in the United States Navy. The Navy provided me a unique way to begin my dental career. I was able to fulfill my dream of serving my country, while also honing my skills as a dentist. During my six years of active-duty service, I had the opportunity to practice dentistry in South Carolina, Japan, Korea, and California. While working at the Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan, I developed an interest in orthodontics, particularly the problem-solving aspect of the specialty. I was attracted to the creative challenge of addressing the patients need by working backwards, with the end goal in mind.
After leaving active duty, I followed those interests to San Francisco, where I completed my orthodontic training at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Now, as a part of the orthodontic community, I feel fortunate to be able to positively impact peoples lives and smiles, either by laying a solid foundation for a childs development and health or by providing comprehensive treatment later in teens and adults.
Outside of orthodontics I enjoy spending time with friends and family as well as traveling. I also love both watching and playing sports. I grew up playing football, basketball, baseball, and golf as well as skiing. I am an avid Michigan fan and never shy away from an opportunity to say, Go Blue!
Our experienced, dedicated, friendly team of professionals is especially interested in making all our patients feel right at home! We put your needs first to achieve efficient and comprehensive treatment. Our staff is trained and skilled, and we strive to provide energetic and fun-loving service to each patient. Each member of our treatment team is a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) and/or Orthodontic Permitted Assistant (OAP). We strive to stay current with the latest advancements in technology by attending several continuing education programs each year, including OSHA and CPR re-certification.
Daina is the Office Manager / Treatment Coordinator and a Registered Dental Assistant as well. Daina takes pride in introducing and educating our patients to their new orthodontic home and helping them decide on the best treatment plan for their lifestyle and needs. She is dedicated to helping our patients sort out the best and easiest payment options for their treatment. Daina absolutely loves building relationships with our patients and watching as their smile and confidence develop. Debbie has two grown sons, (Cody and Kyle), two beautiful daughter-in-laws (Amy & Ashley) and the cutest/smartest grandsons ever(just like Oma)! Outside orthodontics, she plays softball, is a two-time world OTL champion, and enjoys walking her dogs, gardening, learning golf, working out and family time. She walked her first marathon in 1999 and her second one in 2000! Debbie loves her career because of the opportunity to meet and educate so many interesting patients and families in the field of orthodontics. Her biggest reward in orthodontics is showing how simple and interesting orthodontics can be. Our gift to our patients is helping to build lifelong confidence and self-esteem.

Stephanie was kicked out of Texas for not being a football fan and found herself in love with Sandy Eggo sunshine. After a career performing for many dance companies here, she transitioned into orthodontics. Stephanie holds an Orthodontic Assistant Permit and has been practicing since 2014. She still performs occasionaly and can often be found visiting the San Diego Zoo. She has a passion for dog obedience and agility training and is most likely wearing socks with rainbows or unicorns on them.
Stephanie graduated from PIMA Medical School in 2011. Began working in the Orthodontic field since 2016. She loves working and interacting with patients. We chose Stormberg Orthodontics for our son and daughter, which were in middle school, a few years back after checking out a few different orthodontics. We decided with out a doubt to choose Stormberg Orthodontics because of their honesty, and genuine sincerity of caring for the patient. When we met with them for the free consultation, you sensed and saw the sincere, excellent, and honest care they put into all their patients. Both our son and daughter had two completely different oral situations. Our son had an oral emergency that needed to be tended to immediately , and our daughter simply had the usual case of an overbite, and some crooked teeth. Other orthodontics were very eager to throw braces on our daughter right away, and said she would have them on for the next 4-6 years. Those orthodontics were simply interested in our money, and we sensed it was not the right fit. We kept looking. A friend referred us to Stormberg orthodontics after sharing with us her families great experience with them. During the consultation Dr. Stormberg told us our daughter was not ready for braces yet, and to come back the following year too see if she was ready. He also said when she was ready, that it would only be 2 years of her having braces on at the max. For our son with the medical emergency they handled our son with precision, and excellent care and treatment. Our son was done with his treatment in 20 months. The following year we took back my daughter to see if she was ready to have her treatment started. Dr. Stormberg said she still wasn't ready to come back in 6 months. We went back in 6 months and Dr. Stormberg said she was finally ready. Our daughter received excellent care, and her treatment was done in a year and a half. We are so thankful and grateful ! The Stormberg Orthodontics team is the best of the best!

The absolute BEST dental experience of my life ! Finance personnel were very transparent and thoroughly explained all the details. ALL the staff greeted me and made me feel like I was a member of Team "Invisalign Fixes Crowded Teeth" ! Each time there was a new procedure to experience, I received a verbal explanation of what to expect and how it would be accomplished. There were NO surprises. I heartily recommend this office to others needing braces. An added bonus to this office location was the GREAT window views of the pickle ball players.

My wife has recently received Invisalign treatment from Dr. Stormberg's team, and it was nothing short of great customer service. If anyone needs Invisalign treatment for a great smile, Stormberg Orthodontics is where you should go for top-notch service. Kudos to the team!!!!

Dr. Stormberg is very good at what he does. I came in primarily to correct a bite misalignment, and consulted with another orthodontist who recommended jaw surgery. Dr. Stormberg corrected it with Invisalign and rubber bands. This isn't to say he'll be able to do that for you, but I'd definitely at least go to him for a consultation. The staff is all kind, patient, and professional. He gives back to the community as well with a scholarship program, and when COVID wasn't a thing he would host a very fun yearly event with all his patients invited! Hopefully when we get the vaccine that can start back up again :) Overall, he's a great orthodontist, and it shows that he prides himself on going above and beyond to provide a quality experience to his patients.

I've had three teens go through braces at Stormberg Orthodontics. I have two more children, and assuming they need braces, we will gladly be back. I wouldn't want to go to anyone else. Amazing, friendly, professional staff. The office is impeccably clean and the transformation of my kid's mouths are incredible.

My son busted my top retainer with a giant head butt one night and they repaired my retainer at a low cost. I couldn't be more grateful. This retainer has survived a softball to the face, but not my newborn son! This thing feels like it did when I first had it made 16 years ago. It's like an old friend saying "hello." I truly cannot express my gratitude!

(I visited four other orthodontic offices before making my decision.)The superior service after my decision did not disappoint. Dr. Stormberg is friendly and very professional with an office full of orthodontic experts. I would highly recommend Stormberg Orthodontics for anyone considering Invisalign.

Overall A+ experience! I'm so glad I reached out to Dr. Stormberg and team for a second opinion and ultimately ended up deciding to agree to treatment with them. After visiting a different Orthodontist I didn't feel comfortable with the quote I received nor the work they were telling me my son needed because his issue was more moderate in that he only needed to shift his bite. No issue with crowding or anything major otherwise. The pricing was fair, and the work was top quality, cutting edge technology (since the days of me wearing braces myself). Every time we visited the office for appointments we'd walk out saying how nice the staff was. Then the next time we'd go we'd say that again, like they just got better with each and every appointment. Everyone was very friendly and personable and made the whole experience such a pleasure. Being a military family I made every effort to keep them posted on updates on when we'd be moving out of state. They in turn made a tailored treatment plan for my son and he completed his braces within two days of leaving the area.

I absolutely love Dr. Stormberg and his office. He is an incredibly experienced orthodontist and I am very happy that I chose to complete my orthodontic work with him. His office is very well run and easy to schedule appointments with. Dr. Stormberg is extremely good at what he does, and I appreciate that he is a perfectionist and always wants what's best for his patients and their teeth. His price for Invisalign was extremely reasonable, especially considering his expertise, and included everything no matter what happened over the course of treatment. I'm exceptionally happy with my end-result as well as the entire process of completing Invisalign. I am so impressed by Dr. Stormberg and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone considering getting orthodontic work done!

I'm writing this review, because I want people to know that Dr. Stormberg Orthodontic is not a professional company. I was referred to them by my doctors office. I wanted to get braces for my son and looked into doing business with them. Here's the situation. They told me, because I rescheduled with them after 2 times they didn't want to do business with me. And that came from Dr. Stormberg himself. I was totally unaware of the fact that if you rescheduled that was an issue. Normally if you reschedule with in a 48 hour time fame it is ok. I have never been treated in such a rude way from a business. If they had an issue with rescheduling appointments they should have CLEAR COMMUNICATION with their customers instead of treating them as if their less than them. You would think with the climate of everything happening in todays economy that this company would be willing to work with there customers and be happy that they are bringing them business. But I guess that's not the case here. But no worries on my part another business will be happy to receive my Money, because it is clear Dr. Stormberg is doing just fine with out mines.
