February has been designated Gum Disease Awareness Month! Initially launched by the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry, its purpose is to raise awareness about gum disease and encourage healthy dental habits to prevent it.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), gum disease, also referred to as periodontitis, is the result of infections and inflammation of the gums and bone that surround and support the teeth. In the early stages, the gums can become swollen and red, and they may bleed. As it progresses, the gums can pull away from the tooth, which can eventually result in bone and tooth loss. Not only does gum disease affect your mouth, it can affect your body as well. Regular check-ups and good oral hygiene are important to ensure everything is healthy.
Periodontal disease is mostly seen in adults, with 47.2% of those aged 30 years and older having some form of it. This risk only increases with age. On top of age, there are many other risk factors that can increase your chance of developing gum disease. One of the primary risk factors is smoking, followed by poor oral hygiene, diabetes, stress, hormonal changes and medications that cause dry mouth.
While gum disease starts in the mouth, when left untreated, it can start affecting many other parts of the body as well. This includes respiratory disease, rheumatoid arthritis, coronary artery disease and diabetes.

Admittedly, dentists office arent my favorite place to be. Dr. Dan is a highly likable guy, though. It made me feel extremely comfortable to be there. He's very humble and down to earth. The office was able to get me same day and Dan was able to work around his schedule and do a root canal. The rest of the staff is also very friendly. Recommend.

Stonehaven Dental provides excellent dental service. The facility is professional, clean, and very welcoming. Barbara was my hygienist, and is an expert at what she does. She takes her time, cares about your well being, and is very honest for what needs to be done. I highly recommend Stonehaven for all your dental needs!

I had a great experience! My last dentist told me I had cavities and tried to pressure me into getting the work done before my coverage ended there. I came here to get the work done and to my happy surprise NO CAVITIES. Don't go to White Pine Dental (they said I had three cavities). In reality, I found out by coming to Stonehaven Dental I just need a mouth guard because I clench my teeth at night. Thank you for being honest and not drilling on my teeth for no reason. I also had the cutest and friendliest hygienist and dentist. I'm excited to come back here for my cleaning in December!

Save yourself some frustration and go elsewhere. Unknowledgeable staff, inexperienced dental assistants and they changed their story on my service several times. Complete waste of time. Ended up going somewhere else for the needed work.

Lost all respect & trust for this franchise & location. Upon learning they work on commission my suspicions were confirmed that they improperly bill their clients for services that aren't needed! Fillings being the most common. I've never had so many apparent fillings until I went here. Interesting how the last filling they stated I needed didn't even exist when I made an appointment with another provider. No integrity! Their products don't last long & want you to pay out of pocket when they fail. Only thing I can imagine on how they stay in business is by pretending like they truly care about you. The only thing they care about is their wallet as you'll notice or soon notice your bill will hardly line up with what your insurance shows you should owe!! Do not trust these people & verify your true responsibility with what they try to bill you.

My first visit they did nothing, I went in for a regular cleaning and got nothing but a piece of paper of cost. I called to make a second appointment for a regular cleaning. They called the morning of my appointment to push for a $400 cleaning. I've never had a dentist not do a regular cleaning, and call the day of to change the procedure scheduled.

just moved into UT from NH. Needed to find a dental provider with my history of broken teeth. Stonehaven had great reviews, availability & locations. They were also accepted by my insurance. Initial visit went great. Cleaning & exam were thorough & painless. Highly recommend Machenzie at the South Jordan location. Tied with the best Hygienist I have had in my 62 years!

Dr.Angela is amazing. I went to another dental office because it was convenient ( closer drive) for me and regret choosing convenience over quality. Dr Angela does top notch quality work and doesn't try to sell you on S**t you don't need Drive the extra mile to see Dr Angela I promise, it's worth it.

I would not recommend this dental office to anyone. So frustrating! They lied to me. They were misleading about the cost of a procedure and promised a much lower price than their competitors, who I had also called for a quote. I chose to go with Stonehaven Dental of South Jordan for this lower cost. They charged this promised amount upon the completion of the surgery, but then notified me of an added $500 a month later!!! This now made them one of the most expensive options among their competitors. They had to lie to "win" my money. So disgusting. They claimed excuses like "the first charge was an estimate" and "there was a human error in the original calculation." When I proposed that they eat the additional cost as it was their mistake, they said "oh but we all mistakes. That is life". I agree, but am an advocate for accountability and bearing the consequences of your own mistakes. Not throwing them on others! I would not have gotten the procedure done here if I had been told the actual cost. I would have chosen the wisdom teeth guys. To make it all the worse, they backed down for a second and said "ok fine. We will reimburse you the $500 and take it out of Dr. Irene's (the dentist who performed the procedure) paycheck. She just left for maternity leave so it will be a hard hit on her, but if it makes you feel better we can do that." Seriously? Making me feel guilty? What kind of customer service is this? Terrible.

All staff EXCELLENT!! I've known some amazing dentists and Dr Angela Kerr is the best i've ever been to! Very communicative and informative.
