February has been designated Gum Disease Awareness Month! Initially launched by the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry, its purpose is to raise awareness about gum disease and encourage healthy dental habits to prevent it.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), gum disease, also referred to as periodontitis, is the result of infections and inflammation of the gums and bone that surround and support the teeth. In the early stages, the gums can become swollen and red, and they may bleed. As it progresses, the gums can pull away from the tooth, which can eventually result in bone and tooth loss. Not only does gum disease affect your mouth, it can affect your body as well. Regular check-ups and good oral hygiene are important to ensure everything is healthy.
Periodontal disease is mostly seen in adults, with 47.2% of those aged 30 years and older having some form of it. This risk only increases with age. On top of age, there are many other risk factors that can increase your chance of developing gum disease. One of the primary risk factors is smoking, followed by poor oral hygiene, diabetes, stress, hormonal changes and medications that cause dry mouth.
While gum disease starts in the mouth, when left untreated, it can start affecting many other parts of the body as well. This includes respiratory disease, rheumatoid arthritis, coronary artery disease and diabetes.

I was a new patient and had to come in urgently when my regular dentist was unavailable on. Saturday. First of all, so appreciative that they have an after hours clinic. My mind is blown by the level of service I received! They helped resolve my issue to the best of their ability and were knowledgeable as they explained treatment options. They were also compassionate for my situation. They handled the billing with integrity and fairness. Will likely be switching to this practice.

They will cheat you out of your money. And they will give you attitude while they do it. It's a dental enterprise made up of doctors and staff that are after the money, not providing quality dental care. They will not do you the favor of checking to make sure you have insurance before a procedure, then slap you with a bill without your knowledge. Just the kind of thing they teach dentists NOT to do in dental school. And don't bother telling me how you "sincerely regret that my experience was not as you had hoped." I want you to right the wrong, not passively apologize and keep stealing money from others as you did me.

New to the area and picked them for ease of scheduling new patients. Love the warm colors of the lobby and modern office and dental equipment overall, despite a tech glitch on my first visit that forgot I checked in and thought I missed my appointment while sitting in the lobby for 20 mins. The hygienist and dentist were great. Good communication there!

It is IMPOSSIBLE to talk to anyone at the actual location. The number listed is a generalized service for Stonehaven and if you need to ask any questions they tell you to wait at least a day until someone from the actual location can call you back which they usually don't.
