What I Enjoy about the Practice of Dentistry: 'The people are what I find the most enjoyable; The staff and the patients. I also enjoy achieving aesthetic goals through technique and artistry of dentistry'

Specialties: Dr. Fong has been invited to be a faculty member at the Spear Institute (formally known as Seattle Institute). Since there are only a select number of these teaching positions across the country. She is looking forward to making the most out of this opportunity. Dr. Fong will be supporting the attendees of workshops at the Scottsdale Center for Dentistry as well as continuing to further her own education at the Progressive Orthodontic seminars.

Dr. Fong is currently working with Lee Blanton, an excellent removable prosthetics technician in Fairfield, Ca to provide same-day dentures for her patients. She also works with Sang Jun, a master ceramist from Monterey Bay's Dental Lab

Dr. Hyland received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. Following dental school, she pursued a hospital based General Practice Residency at the Veteran Medical Center in West Los Angeles, California for 2 years. I've heard great things about this dental office but I never got to experience the service. Whomever is the main receptionist doesn't answer the phone nor does she reply to emails to set up appointments. Customer service goes a long way and maybe they need to find somebody else who can do the bare minimum requirement of their job.

I avoided going to the dentist for more than FIVE YEARS because I hated my last dentist so much. I finally gave in and looked for a new dentist and found Stone Valley Dental and I have not regretted it for a second! Dr Hyland and her team are amazing!! Highly skilled and always willing to go above and beyond to ensure her patients feel comfortable and safe. The dental assistants know their stuff and Dr Hyland does excellent work. In the few years I've been going to Stone Valley Dental, I've been back loads of times and every time was easier than the last (they give excellent advice for improving tooth care!!). I recently had my wisdom tooth taken out and not only was it an EXTREMELY fast procedure (once I was all numbed up, it took maybe 10 minutes from start to finish to remove the tooth) and afterward, she gave me advice on how to manage my pain, and I followed it to the tee. And guess what? I had ZERO PAIN. LITERALLY. ZERO PAIN. Imagine getting your wisdom tooth pulled and experiencing zero pain in the first 24-48 hours, which is supposed to be the most painful time! And anytime I had questions, I could text Dr Hyland and she responded immediately! I made my mom switch to Stone Valley Dental and I'm forcing my dad to switch too -- it's THAT good. Plus, they got TVs on the ceiling, so I'm never bored while getting my cleanings!

I've found a lifelong dentist in Dr. Hyland! Clean office, great staff, and she and her partners are GREAT! I would have already rated Stone Valley five stars, but when my son had a recent dental emergency Dr. Hyland dropped everything to help him out, gave us her personal cell in case any problems flared up, and called later to see how things were going! Give Stone Valley a try--you won't be sorry!

Dr. Hyland is AWESOME! I have 2 teeth in such bad shape that other dentists, for years, didn't want to touch and they advised me to let them fall apart, then pull them. Dr. Hyland successfully put crowns on each of them, saving my teeth!! She's knowledgeable and friendly, and I'm so glad I found her!!

Dr Hyland and Dr Park are thorough, professional and considerate. I see Dr Hyland and she has always had a smile and a kind word. I'm from the "dentist-fearing" era and she has never hurt me or caused me pain and I've had my share of procedures with her. My children see Dr Pang (pediatric dentist) and he is understanding and patient but works quickly when it's needed. He extracted my sons teeth in about 2 seconds. If you blink, you would miss it. Great office. Clean and bright. Great experience!

I have been a patient of Dr.Hyland and Dr. Fong for over ten years. I initially became a patient at their office in Hercules and have been recently seen at their new office in Alamo. My experience has been nothing but fantastic. After moving to the Bay Area away from my family dentist of over 25 years I was skeptical about finding a new dentist. After meeting Drs Hyland and Fong my fears were gone. They are professional, extremely qualified, and especially understanding of the needs of their patients. The office is clean and up to date with technology. The staff is equally impressive. The office manager Francis at the Stone Valley Dental location in Alamo is a really nice person and very efficient at handling insurance issues and explaining benefits. I have referred many friends to both offices and will continue to do so. Go see for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

Love, Love, Love this place. Finally a great dental office that offers all services under one roof to include a pediatric specialist which Alamo has been lacking for soooo long! They have an orthodontist as well. Dr. Hyland is phenomenal. She is experienced, caring and over qualified in my humble opinion. She is a specialist and meticulous in her work. This place is local owned and operated by the treating doctor, not a corporate/turnstyle environment with inexperienced doctors and staff, been there done that. Dr. Hyland takes whatever time is necessary, really cares and it shows. A friend referred me to this office after Dr. Hyland sent flowers to her after a complicated procedure. In the days of declining customer service this place is a GEM. Francis at the front desk is such a pleasue to talk to and make appointments with. She is very experienced in dealing with insurance issues and makes the experience painless. If you live anywhere near Alamo, Danville or WC this place has it all. So glad I was recommended to visit this office.

If I could give Stone Valley Dental zero stars, I would. I have never had such a horrible, painful and awful dental experience in my entire life! While extracting a tooth that had broken into fragments, it seemed to me Dr. Yvonne Chu-Hyland was hostile to any questions. I only asked a few questions during the first hour of the procedure, but Dr. Hyland's responses seemed impatient, hostile, and more concerned about her time than my care. It was already a painful procedure, but what I perceived as her bullying attitude made the painful experience even worse. What's more, I felt she used an unreasonable amount of force on me when injecting anesthetic. Isn't the point of using pain relievers to ease a patient's pain, not cause more of it? Every time she injected pain killer, I felt it was forceful and caused stabbing pain; not at all like my experiences with other dentists. Furthermore, the dental assistant working with Dr. Hyland didn't seem to care or even be paying attention to my treatment. Although I'm told she has dental training, her behavior made me feel as if she had no formal education, and I found out later that she hadn't even taken her RDA exam until months after my treatment. While using interns may be typical, in this case it was troublesome to me. Prior to this procedure, I had an Invisalign consultation with an orthodontist at Stone Valley Dental. I had a hard time understanding her until an assistant started translating for us. But even then, when we tried to explain one of our concerns, the orthodontist either didn't understand, or wouldn't respond in a way that showed us she understood. She just kept repeating the same non-responsive thing that didn't answer our questions, which made us feel like she was just dismissing our concern without really understanding it. This made us feel like we couldn't communicate with her well enough to get quality or even accurate medical care. Also prior to this procedure, Dr. Hyland told me I have multiple cavities, which would need to be filled prior to Invisalign treatment. However, after all of the above, I went to a different dentist. My new dentist said that though I have some areas that may develop into cavities in the future, I have no cavities suitable for treatment now. Somebody is wrong. I'm going to believe the dentist who did not bully me. Finally, I noticed Stone Valley Dental practices pediatric dentistry. Based on the above, I would personally be terrified to leave a child in the care of this dental practice. If they will treat an adult this way, how will they treat a child?
