After receiving his undergraduate degree from UCLA in 1984, Steve completed his dental school training with high honors in 3 years at the University of the Pacific Dental School in San Francisco. He then practiced general dentistry in Santa Rosa, and concurrently taught at his dental alma mater until he began his Orthodontic residency at OHSU, here in beautiful Portland.
Dr. Black has been enjoying providing Orthodontic treatment to children and adults in Beaverton and Tigard since 1991. He is proud of his reputation in the Dental and Orthodontic community as a person of integrity, high clinical standards, and as someone who has seamlessly combined both the art and the science of creating beautiful smiles. Dr. Black highly values ongoing continuing education for himself, as well as for his staff. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Oregon Dental Association, WA County Dental Association, and frequently attends their educational conferences. As a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics, and the Oregon State Society of Orthodontics, Dr. Black routinely meets with his Orthodontic peers in a cooperative and collegial manner to continuously improve patient care and clinical efficiency. Dr. Black is also a proud member of the World Federation of Orthodontics, and attends international Orthodontic conferences, to gain a broader perspective on the state of the art of Orthodontic treatment world-wide.
When he is not at the office, Dr. Black enjoys time with his family, watching college basketball and football, andplaying(occasionally frustrating) golf! Dr. Black has a passion for travel and learning about different world cultures, art and architecture. When you're in the office, be sure to ask him about his last or next trip!
When Office Manager Christinais not flying around corralling the various Beaverton Ortho personalities, she dreams of her signature drink, Hip Hop on a Tropical Beach.' Inspired by her favorite music and her favorite vacation spot, the ingredients are chocolate, a dash of chocolate, and a shot of chocolate. Garnish with chocolate. Serve hot or cold.

Rumor has it that CIndy is self-taught in several languages as well asa certainmusical instrument...next time you call, be sure to ask about her talents!
Treatment Coordinator Taraloves sharing the joy when patients smiles and personalities are transformed by orthodontics. When shes not guiding patients through their new patient exam, Tara dreams of being able to flap her wings and fly to Thailand, Greece, Hawaii, or to visit family and friends in other far-away lands. Tara has two mottos Always see the good in people, and Ill do anything to avoid answering the door when a solicitor knocks!
Orthodontic Assistant Kelleyhas enjoyed being a member of our wonderful team from the very beginning (were talking last century, folks)! Always willing to go the extra mile, Kelley is known as the office go-to gal. If you catch Kelley daydreaming, shes probably mentally snorkeling, coming up with her newest craft project, or thinking of her two happy, giggly grandbabies!
Malloryis a valued Orthodontic Assistant who enjoys kicking her heals up to the office tunes while trulyconnecting with her patients. We also have reason to believe she has superpowers of teleportation! Next time youre in the office, ask Mallory about her recent trips to Westeros and Hogwarts, or how her travel plans are coming along for that African safari shes dreaming of doing!
As a child she had a great smile, and as an adult, Ortho Assistant Tinas smile continues to light up a room! Youll catch her smiling when her favorite music comes on the office radio, and shell beam if you ask her about Chloe (dont know who Chloe is? Ask Tina!). But the main thing that gives Tina that ear-to-ear grin is her most-recently binge-watched show, G.O.T. You know the one: Great Orthodontic Teeth!

If you have a retainer or other appliance, theres a good chance it was crafted by lab tech extraordinaire Mike. Here at Beaverton Ortho, he is trulyappreciated for his ability to reach things on high shelves as well as chair-sitting for extended periods of time without numbness or fatigue! If you catch Mike daydreaming, it may be because hes either pondering the NCAA rules governing college football recruiting or the latest Supreme Court rulings.
This snappy dresser was destined to become an orthodontist! In addition to lining up your teeth, he also spends his spare time straightening office pictures, evening-out the distance between each reception area chair, and making sure the blinds are all opened/closed just right! Dr. Black is also the office know it all when it comes to music, so be sure to ask him what song is playing in his head the next time youre in the office.
