Our commitment to Syracuse and our community extends throughout the manygenerations of patients that we have had the pleasure of serving. Our current family practice was established in downtown Syracuse nearly 100 years ago by Dr. Joseph Watson, who practiced with his son, Dr. Jeffrey A. Watson. Until his own retirement, Dr. Jeff Watson worked with Dr. Steven F. Zdep at Lincoln Center for thirty-two years, with Dr. Steven R. Zdep joining in 2003. After relocating the practice from downtown to the Dewitt area in 2011, Dr. Steven F. Zdep and his son, Dr. Steven R. Zdep, partnered with Dr. Scott W. Shallish.
Together, we are committed long-term to offering our patients unparalleled care, comfort and expertise, continuing a long tradition of excellence and family care. We consider it a privilege to care for many generations of families and appreciate their trustin us.
Like his father, Dr. Steve graduated from Christian Brothers Academy. He then attended LeMoyne College to earn his Bachelor of Science in Biology and was awarded Academic All-American while playing lacrosse. He went on to attend State University at Buffalo Dental School where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree.
Dr. Steve and his wife, Stacy, live in Fayetteville with their four daughters. As an alumnus of LeMoyne College and the lacrosse team, Steve and Stacy (LeMoyne 00) maintain a strong and fond affiliation for the college.
In an effort to offer his patients the most current, comprehensive and comfortable dental care, Dr. Steve has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education. He attended the Dawson Academya leading provider of dental continuing education for training in functional occlusion (bite) in treatment of TMJ to smile design.

Born and raised in Syracuse, Dr. Scott is excited to be back in town to provide dental care to patients of all ages. He understands the challenges that many patients may have with anxiety when seeking dental treatment and he strives to create a comfortable and relaxing experience. Dr. Scott welcomes patients with any concerns and he looks forward to caring for each patients unique dental needs.
After graduating from Westhill, he attended nearby Colgate University (Class of 2001). As a student, Dr. Scott studied Mandarin Chinese among other disciplines, which led to post-graduate education at National Taiwan University in Taipei. Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Scott studied dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania where he met his wife, Dr. Lily Shallish. They completed an externship together at the University of Glasgow Dental Hospital where they studied advanced techniques in endodontic therapy. The two then lived in Brooklyn, NY, where Dr. Scott was a general practice resident at Long Island College Hospital, a program that integrates complex issues of comprehensive restorative treatment.

Dr Shallish is very nice and very understanding.Dr Zdep Jr gave me a care plan I didn't agree with.i had gone to his wonderful father but when the office moved I didn't know where. When I left the office that day I promised payment when I got paid the following Friday.I HAVE NEVER NOT PAID. I left the office with Tress screaming at me for payment. Glad they care so much NOT

I first sought out Dr. Steven R. in '04 for an emergency abscessed molar at age 50. His care has always been first-rate - skillful, wise and kind. I particularly appreciate his custom of presenting all alternatives and options. Consequently, his services are in high demand - routine appts. currently being set for March '23! Of the many practices that I have experienced in the Syracuse area, their staff and environment set the standard to which all should aspire.

I got in contact with this practice to try and become a new client about a year ago. I gave my insurance information and was told I would be called back. When I was not called back for several business days I called again and left a voicemail. I was still never contacted. Because the location is convenient I decided to try one more time to become a client. I got through but was immediately put on hold. After almost 20 minutes of being on hold without anyone checking in to reassure me I wasn't forgotten about I hung up. The other reviews here are great so it's a shame it is so difficult to get a response in order to become a client. I hope any one who tries to become a client here has better luck than I did.

Dr. Scott Shallish is a very caring, compassionate dentist. I have been afraid of dentists all my life. He explains everything and truly understands my fears. I had a tooth extracted today and never felt any pain at all. I highly recommend Dr. Shallish if you are looking for an amazing dentist. If I can be relaxed in the chair anyone can. Dr Steven is the best dentist I have ever went to! My family and I saw him and his dad for many years. he fixed my smile after I could no longer wear braces due to short roots and gave me the confidence to smile all the time now! He and his staff are wonderful caring professionals

Great dentist. I was recommended by a friend and I'm glad I decided to go with them. I hadn't been to the dentist in quite some time so I was a bit nervous. Entire staff is great. Nice waiting room and so accommodating. Never made me feel uncomfortable.
